Today’s #BeKind21 message is from Find Your Anchor.
My name is Ali, my pronouns are she, her, and hers, and I am the founder of Find Your Anchor. I am a firm believer in the power of little things – that the smallest act of kindness can change somebody’s world.
That is why, for your first #BeKind21 message, I am so proud to share about my organization Find Your Anchor, where we launch kindness in the form of little blue boxes. Each FYA box is packed with various materials designed to inspire, soothe and offer support – such as a deck of 52+ Reasons to Live cards, an infographic on depression, list of resources, a letter, posters, a bracelet, a sticker, some other sweet nothings, and a whole lot of good vibes.
Within each box, we also include the Please Stay Pledge, an interactive and accessible mental health resource, created in partnership with our dear friends at Born This Way Foundation.
We’ve built a community of strangers who offer support and believe selfless acts of kindness nourish our souls and strengthen our communities. Through kindness, we promote empathy and personal connection, lessening feelings of isolation.
We hope to inspire each of you to build acts of kindness into your lives with our gift of the #BeKind21 (printable) cards. Here’s a sneak peek of our cards:
Although no act of kindness is too small, we hope you enjoy these pocket-sized ideas to get you started spreading love.
Your kindness challenge today: Click here to access and print your 21+ Ways to Be Kind cards on 8.5 x 11 paper to carry with you, share with others, and serve as a reminder to show love to yourself and others. You never know who might need an uplifting message reminding them they matter and we need them to please stay.

my unicorn book, Cloven, is in store along with related goodies! it’s been a while since I put out an original artbook and I’m pretty chuffed with how this one came out, so reblogs would be deeply appreciated. these bad boys are going to remain in stock for a good long time, so please don’t feel pressured to grab them if leisure funds are tight right now.
thank you as always for your support! 🦄💛

God, as somebody that grew up in a largely jewish community, holocaust denial is like... so fucking weird.
Because I don’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t terrified of swastika’s, including when I was so young that I didn’t even know what a swastika was.
Because it’s such a strangely specific feeling to be born in the wake of a tragedy so massive that you can still feel it’s reverberations and were born with a weird sense of survivors guilt that will shadow you forever
Because when we were younger and our parents refused to tell us exactly what the holocaust was, we would trade our grandparents horrific experiences like they were scary stories across the camp fire, repeating them over and over to ourselves and eachother so we could figure out what it all meant.
Because I’d see those books with grey photos of Auschtwitz prisoners on the cover and feel like they were looking straight fucking at me.
Because every single Yom HaShoah you’d hear grade school children get up and say “my grandmother was the only one left of her family” or “they barely got out before it started” or “they managed to hide in an attic for months on end” or “my great grandmother managed to jump off one of the trains with her daughter in her arms” or “my grandfather has numbers on his arms but he won’t talk about it” or “my great aunt was shot just before the liberation so she couldn’t get out,” like it was normal.
Because we were always taught to run if we were in a group of non-jews that started making nazi jokes, to laugh along and then take the fuck off to stay safe.
Because the question always lingered over our heads, “what if it happens again? what if it happens to us?”
.... and them some stupid fucking college age white trash dickhead stands up and says “it didn’t happen” or “it wasn’t that bad” and I just can’t... fathom that? Like how the fuck wasn’t this part of your life? How is this not etched into your bones?
And its because it’s not. Like people didn’t grow up with this shit, some people can afford to deny the holocaust and deny antisemitism because it won’t hurt them.
It’s just... fucking wild.
(please reblog)
We don’t know the extent of the damage just yet, but last night, September 1st 2021, as the rainfall worsened, we noticed some leakage in the bedroom, from the ceiling.
…and then in the living room, from where the light fixture was connected to the ceiling there. However the drainage from our flat fucking roof was set up, water started accumulating in the walls and ceiling of the lower level.
And more, and more. The leak in the living room was the fastest and most aggressive, filling up our largest containers fast enough that we had to regularly empty them out, but we started seeing leaks on all three levels—ground floor, upstairs, and basement. The bedroom, upstairs hallway, windows in the two smaller rooms upstairs, from the basement ceiling, the kitchen… pretty much everywhere except the front entryway and laundry room. Who knows, maybe there, too, by now. When we weren’t in the middle of panic attacks, we were rushing around the house trying to find solutions.
We moved into this place last October. It was our dream, the wonder that three disabled queer Jews were able to pool our resources and get not just an apartment but a house.
We had to evacuate. By the time i was ready to go, there were spots where water was pooled deep enough to cover my smaller toes. We were able to secure our most important documents, some prized possessions like stuffed animals and books secured in dry locations or taken with us. We piled into my car with a friend who came over to help, and the cat, and dropped off that friend with our cat while we went to a motel. I’m typing this from that motel, trying to not move too much because of the cold i’ve come down with from being damp for hours.
We are not sure yet what this is going to cost us. Like many people affected by this weather emergency, we were not in any area historically affected by such rainfall; insurance and other services in the area are burdened with an unexpected number of people in immediate need of services. We know for sure that the roof is going to need to be completely redone, and probably nearly all if not all of the walls, ceilings… we don’t know yet the extent of damage to over thirty years of possessions that each of us thought were safe. Of the damage to things that can’t be replaced; old drawings, notebooks, art made by friends, et cetera.
I will post updates as I am able, reblogged on this post. I know that others have been faced with far worse losses, and we have our networks of friends and family who can offer some support, but we’re still going to need help.
Once we’ve got a more definite dollar amount in terms of the extent of damage, we’ll probably put up a GoFundMe or something like that.
For now, if you can help in any way, please feel free to send to http://paypal.me/ayellowbirds or https://ko-fi.com/ayellowbirds
On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, Texas’s new law, S.B. 8, went into effect. This law effectively bans abortion in the state AND asks private citizens to act as bounty hunters to “enforce” the law.
Then, in the dead of the night, the Supreme Court turned its back on 50 years of precedent, rendering Roe v. Wade effectively meaningless in Texas. The Supreme Court allowed Texas’s unconstitutional six week abortion ban to go into effect. Six weeks is before many people know that they’re pregnant.
This is an attack on human rights and Texas law sets a dangerous legal precedent and could clear a path for states to override people’s constitutional rights. If the courts let this bill stand we can expect to see similar bills introduced in states across the country.
Abortion is health care. Yet politicians are consistently attacking access to that care (even during a pandemic).
Tumblr, let's rally our voice and speak out against this ban.

Bobbie has a household of three adults and six cats, in New Orleans. Their power is out and estimated time for it to return is three to sixteen weeks. Their continued survival is going to require either a generator, or enough money to temporarily relocate (and cover the loss of income from Kim's job if she has to take off work for temporary relocation) until power is restored. Everything helps, even if it's just a dollar! Shares help immensely, so please share far and wide!
This is heart wrenching.

Ok so this post is extremely long and I put it all together for my blogs Feeling sad page but as I don’t have a huge amount of followers I realize so many people are not seeing this information so I’m posting it here too!
alternatives without harming yourself:
holding/squeezing ice.
splashing your face with water.
getting a rubber band and snapping it against your skin (this could hurt, though it’s better than other ways that people usually choose to self-harm).
take a hot shower or bath.
eat something sour. it will take your mind of the urge. (lemon, sour lollies)
massage where you want to self-harm.
get a red pen or red paint and draw/paint over where you usually self-harm.
remind yourself as to why you shouldn’t do it. (scars, harms organs, leave memories etc…)
describe what you are feeling. (is the urge/pain in your chest, fists, legs, arms, head).
killing yourself will not help. it is not a solution.
you have your whole life ahead of you. you have so many more years that you can accomplish things in. for example;
having a family.
getting married.
to watch the sun rise.
to watch the sun set.
to save someone else’s life.
finish school.
get your dream job.
to laugh.
to smile.
to go camping.
travel to new places.
to wake up every morning to the person you love.
friends.
family.
to keep that promise you made.
to accomplish a goal.
to meet your idol.
to listen to new music.
theme parks.
video games.
chocolate.
to be able to look back and say “i made it”.
what you’re going through is temporary.
in case you need to hear this:
you are loved.
you are wanted.
you are needed.
you are beautiful.
you are handsome.
you are important.
you are not alone.
you are okay.
you are strong.
you are worth it.
you are smart.
you are not a failure.
you are useful.
you are going to be okay.

it’s ninety-nine degrees outside, four fuck-thousand percent humidity, and my husband was like, “i’m gonna go for a bike ride.” and i was like “why. no. why. don’t put us on the news like that. local fool collapses on unnecessary journey. don’t do it.” so he says he doesn’t want to “hide in the house” because the sun is shining. bruh. honeybruh. “the sun is shining” does not cover it. its hot outside. its motherfucking hot as fuck outside. our outdoor plants have been crying into their hands all week. whole cars are melting into the sewer. our fucking patio umbrella developed sentience to ask me for lemonade this morning
Ok, so I'd never do this but im in some trouble. If you're interested in helping, click the cut.
My daughter (28) and I live together and she lost her job in the beginning of June. She has been waiting on UI since then but keeps getting messages that her claim cannot be paid at this time. She's been looking for a job and driving Door Dash but with gas prices, she isnt making much money, shes made just enough to pay her car insurance and phone bill, she lost her health insurance because she cant afford Cobra.
I work 5 days a week but summer is slow season so im lucky if i make 20 hours. I dont have a car so my employment choices are limited. Needless to say the bills have fallen behind, especially the electric bill. Its been sky high every month since May because its been hot af and i have window airconditioners. Im $813 behind and cant do the payment plan thing again because I was already doing that, but I i couldnt pay the full $372 i owed last month so it put me in default for the ballance. I got a notice today that I must pay the ballance due by the 18th or be shut off.
I have a dog and a cat too that i can't send somewhere else if i can't stay here so if you can help at all by sending me what you can, im $MissJackiL on cash app, if not please reblog.
Ill keep you updated. Any help at all is appreciated. Thank you!! ♥️♥️
I really hate doing this, but my license will be expiring on my birthday (October 28th) and I would love it if I could have my name legally changed by then. However, I don't currently have the money for it largely because there are pretty much no cars to sell so my pay is about half of what it used to be and a third of what it normally is this time of the year. I'm at the point where I'm looking for other jobs.
I need $200.

I saw this on Tiktok and thought it needed to be passed on. Pololū Valley is sacred land currently at risk of being developed into yet another "scenic tourist attraction" for profit. Activists like @/melemaikalanimakalapua on Tiktok are fighting to have this petition seen by as many people as possible in order to prevent the senseless destruction of this land.
Note that the petition says not to donate to change.org--donations to change.org do NOT protect Pololū Valley.
I hope that by spreading this to tumblr, I can help it reach more people. Please sign this and reblog it if you can!

Attn to disabled people + allies: A new bill called the SSI Restoration Act of 2021 has been introduced to the House and Senate that will be life-changing for many of us.
Among other things, the SSI Restoration Act of 2021 will:
• Raise the monthly disability income to the poverty level — a ~30% increase
• Change the amount recipients can have saved from $2,000 to $10,000 — the first update in over 30 years
• Update outside income restrictions to $399/month from work *without benefit reductions*
• REMOVE THE MARRIAGE BAN and promote marriage equality
• Remove penalties and reductions for receiving help from friends and family
Please consider calling your representatives to ask them to support it. You can also text "SIGN PSLOAE" to 50409, which will automatically send letters to your representatives for you.

I'm only guessing but I'm gonna need maybe like $250 at the very least. If you wanna help me out regardless my p4yp4l username is @inero11 although personally I feel more comfortable earning help. Here's some pics of my baby Howl!

tldr: the Internet Archive/WayBack Machine is super important in term of archived content, billions of stuff are on there, and with the current event happening in the world like stated above, without this tool, it will be hard to properly document what took place. It will be easy for certain people to rewrite history. Dont let them.

so can we start hunting down white liberals now or what
So apparently, over the summer, Quibi (the shortest-lasting streaming service ever lmao) did a quarantine project called “Home Movie: The Princess Bride” where a bunch of celebrities recreated The Princess Bride in tiny chunks at home.
And like there was no permanent cast, all these celebrities seem to have gotten a scene or part of a scene to do (i’m not sure exactly, I did not ever watch Quibi and thus haven’t seen this yet), and then they just… recreated it as best they could. At home. Under quarantine.
So like, you had Jennifer Garner in a blanket cape playing Princess Buttercup AND the Booing Old Woman with a crowd comprised entirely of stuffed animals:
Or Taika Waititi paying Westley off a badly-drawn Inigo on a piece of cardboard held in front of someone’s face:
And it’s all just delightful.
But my absolute favorite part of this thing that I’ve sadly never seen but assume is probably absolutely hilarious and a treasure and I want to find it some day and watch the whole thing… is that Carey Elwes is in it.
As Prince Fucking Humperdink.
