one of the big concepts I learned in therapy that has been fucking revolutionary for me is the concept that sometimes u can just feel feelings and they don’t have to mean anything.
like, I can just be sad about something for a little while because it feels cathartic and helpful to let myself be sad, and it doesnt have to mean anything or change how I act or treat people.
like sometimes u just need to feel an emotion in order to process and work through things, and sometimes it just feels good to let urself be sad about a silly or little thing. and then once its out its over, uve experienced it and now it is done so u can move on.
and I dont have to derive greater meaning from it or do anything about it. i was just sad for a few hours and now i feel better and that’s all that matters.
(An Encanto We don't talk about Bruno cherik parody)
Green- Charles
Blue- Hank
Orange- Logan
Pink- Pietro
Basically the Brotherhood of Mutants are coming to the mansion for a talk and Pietro starts asking questions.
We don't talk to Magneto, no, no, no!
We don't talk to Magneto... but
It was a rainy day
After his graduation day
We were in Florida, and there wasn't a doubt in my mind
A drought of doubt in his mind
Magneto walks in with a shark's sharpiest grin-
Love!!
You telling this story, or am I?
I'm sorry, Professor, go on
Magneto says, "the mutants plight"
Why did he tell us?
I argue that we must unite
Mutants, chose a side
Love gone in an awful fight
What a terrible day... but anyway
We don't talk to Magneto, no, no, no!
We don't talk to Magneto!
Hey! Grew to live in fear of Magneto glowering and grumbling
I could always see him hovering and rumbling
I see him as metal that cannot bend, ch-ch-ch
It's a heavy lift, with a gift so humbling
Always left Professor and the family fumbling
Grappling with politics and perspectives they could not make amends
Do you comprehend?
A six-foot frame
Numbers on his wrist
When he calls your name
It ends with a fist
Yeah, he sees your fears
And brings you to tears (hey!)
We don't talk to Magneto, no, no, no! (We don't talk to Magneto, no, no, no!)
We don't talk to Magneto (we don't talk to Magneto!)
He promised the Senator would die
The next day: dead! (No, No!)
He told me I was soft!
And just like he said... (no, no!)
He stressed all my hair to disappear, now look at my head (no, no! Hey!)
My fate was sealed, when I let him in my bed!
He told me that the life of my dreams was not to be, and would never be mine
He told me that my power would grow, thanks to to the bullet lodged in my spine
Eh, Brotherhood's on the way
He told me that the girl of my dreams would be just out of reach
Betrothed to another
It's like I hear him now
Hey Beast, I want not a sound out of you (it's like I can hear him now)
I can hear him now
Um, Magneto...
Yeah, about that Magneto...
I really need to know about Magneto...
Gimmie the truth and the whole truth, Magneto
(Professor, your boyfriend's here)
Time for dinner!
A six-foot frame (it was a rainy day, after his graduation day)
Numbers upon his wrist (we were in Florida)
When he calls your name (and there wasn't doubt in my mind)
It ends with a fist ( A drought of doubt in his mind!)
Yeah, he sees your fears (Magneto walks in with a shark's sharpiest grin-)
And feasts on your fears (love!)
You telling this story, or am I?
I'm sorry, Professor, go on (Eh, Brotherhoods on the way)
Magneto says, "the mutants plight" (a six-foot frame, numbers on his wrist)
I argue that we must unite
Love gone in an awful fight
They're here!
Don't talk about Magneto, no! (Why did I talk about Magneto?)
Not a word about Magneto
I never should've brought up Magneto!
I stand by Apocalypse/Dark Phoenix Erik having white hair. U can pry it from my cold dead hands
sometimes i feel like i have to step away for a moment and appreciate the seismic impact that arthureames has had because it’s absolutely mind-boggling and i don’t think i’ve seen another pairing quite like them.
they only appeared in the movie for about five to ten minutes together but managed to build and sustain an entire fanbase (which is currently still active) for ten years. just that fact alone is perplexing, because there has never been another instance of something quite similar to them. the movie was able to beautifully characterize arthur and eames, as well as their relationship, in those five to ten minutes. complexities and details, a bond built on trust, deep-seated admiration. just think about how nearly every single other fanbase with a long-running pairing has been sustained by more than five to ten minutes of content. inception really took an inch and gave us the whole nine yards.
not only that, but their influence trickled down into other fanbases from separate movie franchises. correct me if i’m wrong, but i’m certain that blake/bane (joseph gordon-levitt and tom hardy’s characters in the dark knight rises) is a pairing that would not have existed had it not been for inception. besides tdkr, theres content in the arthureames ao3 tag from mad max, mysterious skin, rocknrolla (and probably others), content which is solely there because of jgl and tom hardy’s roles in those films. films that should be completely detached from the characters of arthur and eames, but still manage to feel the second-hand shock waves of inception’s impact.
it’s utterly fascinating yet baffling because it goes against nearly every other convention i’ve seen in fan culture regarding pairings. arthureames is such a special relationship, a ridiculous phenomenon breaking the limits of the status quo. in many ways like it’s source material, it’s mind-breaking and causes you to question everything you previously knew.
I made [a post] a while back with links to read the manga and watch the movies online. Unfortunately KissManga and KissAnime have gone down for good.
However! @thirdleagueheroes has been translating [TIGER&BUNNY THE COMIC], the Canon manga series, and has their translations posted for download! They currently have up to chapter 31 (out of 41 total) listed [HERE]!
There are also several comic anthologies. There is a full list [here].
There are two companion shorts called [“Side Bunny”] and [“Side Tiger”] in which all the other heroes visit the respective main character’s apartment. “Side Bunny” takes place sometime during the ten months between [episode 13] and [episode 14]. “Side Tiger” takes place one month after the epilogue. You can watch them on YouTube here: [Side Bunny] and here: [Side Tiger]. Unfortunately the OP has made both of the videos private.
EDIT 3/6/21: @coolboxofcandy has uploaded both Side Bunny and Side Tiger, as well as the Sound of TIGER&BUNNY short “Too Many Cooks Spoil the Broth” and the audio dramas to GoogleDrive! You can find their post [HERE]!
There are two movies -
The first half of [Tiger&Bunny: The Beginning] is basically a recap of the first two episodes, but it also includes a lot of extra scenes that were cut from the aired episodes and an extra episode that takes place between episode 2 and episode 3. It’s definitely worth the watch. In fact I would recommend watching The Beginning then starting the series at episode 3.
[Tiger&Bunny: The Rising] takes place sometime 1 to 3 years after the anime ends about 2 years after the epilogue.
Unfortunately I don’t know where you can watch the movies for free online, but you can buy them on DVD [HERE] and [HERE], as well as the whole first series [HERE] and [HERE].
EDIT: Thanks to @tiptapricot for letting me know that [wcostream.com] has the English Dub of the series and both movies available in full and in good quality for free! An ad blocker would be recommended but not necessary. If you have Hulu, they also have the series in both sub and dub, but not either of the movies.
EDIT 3/6/21: TIGER&BUNNY is back on US NETFLIX as well as many European countries’ NETFLIX, however they have still removed the sponsors and have also removed after credit scenes.
There is a third manga serialization, by Sakakibara Mizuki, that deviates from Canon. It sort of follows the first couple episodes, but goes full AU by episode 8. I don’t know of anywhere you can read it online, but it did get an official English translation through VIZ, and you can buy it [HERE].
You can find a list of artbooks and guidebooks [here].
You can find a list of Drama CDs [here].
You can find a list of Radio Shows [here].
You can find a list of music [here]. The [Best of Hero] character songs can all be found on YouTube.
EDIT 3/6/21: All TIGER&BUNNY music albums, including both soundtracks and character songs, are available to stream on multiple platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and YouTube Music. @tigerandbunnyftw made a post with links [HERE].

Genuinely 90% of historical fiction would be so much better if more writers could get more comfortable with the fact that to create a good story set in a different time period you do actually have to give the characters beliefs & values which reflect that time period

hi! you probably get this a lot, but I got into the series just about a week or two ago and watched everything they had on netflix, i loved it a lot! i want to look at more but I'm like... 11 years late to the party and it's kind of overwhelming and confusing. where should I start? what sort of stuff is there beyond what's on netflix? (sorry if this is a silly question, but i figured you would know a lot!)
thank you, have a nice day!
Hi! No worries, it's not a silly question at all, there's a lot of content out there! I think it depends on how invested you want to get, because there's things like the shorts, the mangas, audio dramas, and even more supplementary stuff like the novels and interviews from characters/cast/staff. I'd recommend starting out with the shorts and mangas first and see how you feel from there!
Shorts: The Side Bunny short takes place between episode 13 and 14, Side Tiger short takes place after episode 25, and the Too Many Cooks Spoil the Broth short takes place after the Rising. You can download all three of them from here, provided by coolboxofcandy!
Manga: There are two main ones. Tiger & Bunny: The Comic by Ueda and Yoshida (read here) which follows canon and depicts new stories that take place early in the anime and up to the Rising. If you only read one then I'd say go for that one! Tiger & Bunny by Mizuki Sakakibara (read here) on the other hand is a little bit of an AU story, as it largely follows Barnaby's perspective and diverges a few chapters in. Both of these mangas are completed, but the Ueda manga is still in the process of being fan translated. And while the Sakakibara manga is available online up to chapter 25, it has been localized so you may have to end up purchasing volumes 7, 8, and 9 if you'd like to read the rest. Also, starting this month we'll be getting sequel mangas to both of these with season 2!
Then there are the two oneshots by Katsura (character designer) and Nishida (head writer): read here and here, and they take place sometime between episodes in the anime.
As for the rest of these, they aren't really necessary materials, but they are canon and very fun.
Drama CDs: You can download the audio thanks to coolboxofcandy here and read the translations on the Wiki here. Expect lots of shenanigans and different pairs of characters getting their share of the spotlight!
Novels: Excerpts from the novelization of The Beginning part 1 (generously reuploaded by T&Bftw), part 2, and part 3; and The Rising excerpts here. These follow the movies through the characters' POVs and gives insight to their thoughts, which the audience isn't privy to hearing in the series itself.
And interviews/etc! There have been a lot of these. ThisIsSternbild has a good collection of translations to get started with, and the Directory on this blog has a variety of other bits of translations and other miscellaneous events. Monthly Hero in my opinion is another fun one to read, as that information is from the booklets that came with the Limited Edition Blurays so they tend to relate to the episodes they came with.
Beyond all of those, I'd say it's just a matter of reading or clicking through to whatever else sounds interesting to you! Sorry this was so long, but I hope it helps! And feel free to ask if you have any more questions :)
So, someone on my dash wondered why the arsehole!Arthur characterisation is so prevalent in Inception fanfic, when they thought Arthur seemed quite even-tempered throughout the movie (he was patient with Ariadne, he said Mal was “lovely” etc.).
And I nodded thoughtfully, wrote up a reply, hit re-blog, then walked off to make some tea. But when I came back, tumblr had frozen. But the post was still open. ‘Goddamn it,’ I thought. ‘I spent quite a bit of time thinking on this trope and writing about it, so I will bloody well see that it’s posted.’ So here it is.
–
Arthur is definitely even-tempered. He’s the point man - the details man, the reliable one.
As the point man, he’s probably the one who has to deal with the most people. He may not necessarily deal with the client the most - that seems to be the extractor - or deal with people for the longest periods of time, but, as point man, he needs to know everything that’s going on. To do that, he needs to stay in constant communication with people. He needs to have good people skills.
And we see that - he’s patient when teaching Ariadne; he’s professional and courteous with Saito; he compliments people when they do well (and I do believe he was being genuine with his “Eames, I’m impressed,” even though Eames slapped it back down with a smirk); he tries to calm Cobb down, and he doesn’t get defensive at all when Cobb tears him a new one for not discovering Fischer’s militarisation.
However, as point man, Arthur also has to be exacting. He has high standards because it’s his job to make sure things go smoothly for his team. And, as such, he’ll brook no excuses if people fuck up. He calls Nash an arsehole (all right, asshole) for fucking up the carpet. He pokes holes in everyone’s ideas because this inception job needs to be watertight to be successful. And he gets the shits with Eames because Eames plays around during the planning stages.
In my opinion (stressing that it’s only my opinion, doesn’t have to be everyone else’s), that’s all it is. Eames is being playful, teasing (tipping Arthur’s chair, laughing at him when he’s getting the kick whilst Somnacin testing) and Arthur wants people to be serious at this stage in planning. It doesn’t mean he never has sense of humour. I think it’s quite in-character if he jokes back with Eames (“And I will lead them on a merry chase,” and “Go to sleep, Mr. Eames”, anyone?).
He just won’t do it at that point in the job. Maybe even just that point in that particular job (there were, after all, quite high stakes).
I also think it’d still be in-character for Arthur to have a dickish sense of humour (and maybe that’s just because that’s how I like to write him, because I like writing characters with dickish senses of humour ;D).
But Arthur’s got good people skills, like we established before. So he’ll only express that dickish sort of humour if the person he’s joking with is comfortable with it. If Eames was upset by Arthur snapping at him, or acting like a sarcastic motherfucker, I think Arthur would tone it down, or simply not do it.
Except Eames isn’t upset by it. He pushes back. He pushes Arthur’s buttons just as hard.
So Arthur smirks, or laughs outright, and devotes thirty minutes each day to coming up with new ways to insult Eames’ attire, secure in the knowledge that Eames is spending thirty minutes thinking up new ways to call him an anal-retentive bastard.
(Okay, that last bit is just my head canon)
he was a dog… she was an iguana… can i make it anymore obvious
