Julia had been tapping away on her phone sending off an email when she heard the guy in front of her reference ’the person behind me’ and she looked up - that was her? “Sorry, what?” So caught off guard by someone wanting to pay for her drink for no apparent reason, that small act of kindness not common in her life. “Are you sure? I mean you don’t know…” she was going to say ‘you don’t know me’ but then realised that would be stating the obvious so instead just shut her mouth, giving him a smile. “Well, that’s incredibly kind of you. Thank you…?” Waiting for him to fill in his name. “I’ll get a skim cap with an extra shot please.” @sebastianxwinters

Sebastian needed coffee in his system if he was going to ever get through the day. His phone had been blowing up lately with texts and call from his family because Sebastian did not immediately fly back to London. He was in Rise & Grind and he was waiting for his turn to be called on. He felt like he was isolating himself lately and he didn't want to completely feel like that so in his mind it made sense to pay for the order for the person behind him. "Yeah, I'll get a pumpkin cold brew with sweet cream cold foam and whatever the person behind me wants." he said as he gestured towards the woman standing behind him.
Julia was just catching up on some paperwork at the nurses station - for once things had quietened down a bit (famous last words) so she could take a breather. Her coffee sat next to her forgotten as it so often was because despite being incredibly smart when it came to her own self care she had the memory of a goldfish. Tucking some hair behind her left ear she initialed a box when she felt a tap on her shoulder, looking up with the expectation of seeing an intern or nurse who needed something, but instead she was faced with a woman she’d never seen before.
About to ask if she was looking for a patient it soon became clear that wasn’t there reason for being here, listening to the request with a small smile. “Oh, how sweet. No, of course I’d be happy to help. I actually think it would lift quite a few kids spirits to have someone come in and help distract them for a bit. Not that I’m diminishing your tutoring to just a distraction, but you know what I mean. Often the older ones end up actually missing being at school.” She looked back down at the pamphlets again. “Tell me more, do you do all ages?” @callmecharliejones

The hospital wasn't Charlie's favorite place. Well, she supposed it wasn't anyone's favorite place but Danny had sad it would be a good idea to put up pamphlets in the pediatric ward of the hospital he worked at and Danny was full of brilliant ideas, so with shaky hands and a deep breath, she headed inside and as she saw a woman in a white coat, she came over to tap her shoulder.
"Hi, I'm so sorry to bother you. I promise I won't take long." She started. "My friend Daniel works here, he said I could put some pamphlets up. I'm a teacher. I'm looking for some kids to tutor." She handed her one of the handmade and photocopied pamphlets she made herself, with silly drawings, flowers, stars, hearts, a few bunnies here and there and her contact number. "Could you help me? If you are not too busy of course. I'm sure you have a million kiddos to see. I don't want to be an imposition. I can wait for your break as well, or come some other time."
Julia was a carb fiend, something she didn’t share with many people because she was a doctor so if people knew the amount she actually ate they might not trust her advice anymore. Not because it was just bread, but because it was just…a bad diet. Born of convenience rather than nutrition, she’d stopped off at Toastery because it meant not having to cook when she got home. “Hmm? Oh, um only the Pumpernickel - I was trying to be healthy…it was a mistake. Obviously, when there are bagels on offer.” Giving the other a polite smile. @infragilehearts

——- Looking around at the different bread options before picking a couple and getting them paid for. if the bread here was good — valerie definitely wouldn't be against coming back. ❝ have you tried any of the bread in here ? ❞ she asked curiously to someone else inside. either way she was going to try it herself, but she was just a curious soul at heart. wanting to know all she could. she always loved to learn.
Julia adored babies, of course she did otherwise she wouldn’t be doing the job she did, but spending time with a healthy one felt like a luxury she was rarely afforded. After all when they came into the ICU it wasn’t because they just fancied some extra tummy time. At the invitation from Elliot to hang out with him she’d jumped at the chance on her day off, glad the sun had decided to come out as well for them all. Not wanting to creep up on him in a way that might scare him or the baby she waited until Elliot looked her way before waving, heading in there direction. “Hey! Look how cute you guys look. Hey sweetheart, aren’t you getting big!” She beamed at the baby while trying to do the best sign language she could, unsure if it had actually made sense or not but hoping for the best. @elliot-appsley
@doctorjuliasato Central Park
As excited as he was to enter a new season of life with Sawyer, to watch her experience her first Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, Elliot wasn't prepared for the cold weather that came with it. It was the one thing he hated about New York, the blistering cold. So he was trying to make use of the warm days on his days off, to get outside with his daughter as much as he could. Which is how he found himself sprawled on a picnic blanket in the middle of Central Park. Laying flat on his back, raising the baby up into the air above him, laughing as he watched the pure happiness on her little face. Still unable to believe that she was his, that he was a dad. As he brought her back down, supporting her on his chest he turned his head to the side, catching Julia not too far away from the two of them. Giving her a wide and warm grin in greeting.
“Are you a chef?” Well she certainly did know a lot about spices and things. Then again Julia would think someone adding anything other than salt and pepper was impressive since she rarely ate anything home cooked these days. Due to lack of time mostly, but skill as well. Picking up something on her way home from work she could shove in her mouth before passing out or doing more work was far easier in the doctor’s opinion. As they arrived at the counter she ordered her bagel, tapping her phone to pay, and gesturing to the other to place her order straight after. Taking a step back to allow her the space to do so. “Are you a big…uhh...bruncher?” @infragilehearts
——- Stepping forward with the line, adjusting the shopping back she had due to her store stop before coming here. ❝ i use oregano, a bit of red pepper flakes for a kick and i have this spice combination i use in a lot of my dishes for a special taste that makes it all me. ❞ valerie did work at a local restaurant part time, and in her time she learned ways to make dishes good and special from any other. so of course — she couldn't share all her secrets. however — one she could was red pepper flakes as in her family, they loved a nice spicy kick to some dishes. ❝ not a bad idea. i could do that or use them for work tomorrow as brunch time is probably the best time. ❞ last time she did brunch herself was before moving to new york with friends before her departure as a nice final hooray.
Julia wasn’t due to go into the hospital until later today because she was on the night shift - arguably the most stressful just because there was something about the whole world being asleep that made the weight of caring for tiny humans even heavier on her shoulders. Maybe that was why she’d agreed to go out to the beach with Ana, to provide a bit of headspace before she headed to work. “Oh sorry, no…no I’m not going to do that all day.” Quickly stepping to the side before she dropped down onto the ground next to her, careful to pick a relatively ‘soft’ spot. “I was just trying to see if that was a lighthouse or a wind turbine out there on the horizon…” @tctteredwings

"You going to stand there blocking my sun all day or are you actually going to sit down?" The question came as Ana pulled her sunglasses down the bridge of her nose to observe the person standing right in front of her. There was a playful, cheeky smile on her features, head tilting to the side and brows lifting a moment. Giving herself the day off had been top of her agenda today, which meant she'd been heading straight for the beach, intent on spending every free second she had enjoying the sun, the atmosphere, and the people around her.
Looking up from the chart she was reading as she headed into her next patient’s room she noted that they were there for a consultation regarding a set of twins that weren’t yet born, not that this was unusual. Sure the OBGYN team would be closely monitoring this too but she was no doubt brought in to discuss something to do with the actual baby care after they were born. Most likely in the event they came early so that everyone was on the same page. “Miss Bjork, it’s lovely to meet you. I'm Doctor Rebeiro.” She gave her a warm smile, offering her hand in greeting, beside manner very much switched on. “Well, I wouldn’t worry. Let’s just see what we have going on here. So you’re coming up to seven months - is that right? How have you been feeling?” @bjorkn
𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌 her trust commented about Doctor Ribeiro's excellent job, and she wanted the best for her unborn children. Normally to all doctor appointments, Neva goes with her fiance. Today, this is not the case because this is one of her 'impulses attack'. ⎯ The blonde came to ask some doubts. Once her name was announced she entered the room, introducing herself. ❛ Hi doctor, I'm Neva Björk. I heard a lot about your work, and I'm not really sure why I'm here. They aren't born yet. ❜ Fucking hell… This is starting badly.
@drjuliarebeiro
Heading out of a patients room the doctor heard the familiar voice of Gavin’s dulcet tones drifting past the noise of machines beeping mixed with the overhead intercom calling various medical staff to different parts of the hospital. Waving back albite it a little more subdued, she slipped her pen into the front pocket of her white coat. “Fancy seeing you here. No, no I’m not allergic to blueberries, at least not last time I ate one, so I’m pretty certain I’ll live to tell the tale this time too.” Smiling at him warmly because truthfully the sweet treat was coming at exactly the right time, the man had no way of knowing that of course but her morning had been pretty fucking brutal in ways she’d like to forget even just for ten minutes.
“You didn’t have to do this - thank you.” His sunny disposition might be a stark contrast to how somber hers so often was but that didn’t mean he always managed to lift her mood. His mom was one of her favourite nurses in the whole place, maybe that was why she’d taken so much to him as well. “The blueberry muffin is perfect. I don’t want to drag you away from your muffin man mission any longer than needed by forcing you across the street - are you looking for your mom? I think I saw her heading towards Radiology about twenty minutes ago.” @mrmcrch

it was after a shift at the station that gavin had decided to pop up to the hospital to see his mom, having picked up her favorite soup from santiago's and entering the building with a skip in his step, happily greeting the receptionist and dropping off a cookie to them on his way to the elevator and meets with one of the ladies on the third floor to ask if his mom is available at the moment, nodding and bouncing in place as the woman calls his mother's room to let her know of his arrival, and playing a game of continuously sliding the packaged brownie back to the blond as he keeps trying to slide it back towards her as she speaks to clara.
it's here when he spots the familiar, newer face he was getting more acquainted with since she had started and gavin perks up, smile widening as he calls out to her with a wave. "julia! i've got a muffin here for ya with your name on it...." he drawls out, looking through his bag in search of said snack. "...wait, you're not allergic to blueberries, are ya? that would really suck...but! i could pick out somethin' else for you at the cafe?...or maybe we can go across the street if you're sick of the stuff here...i know my mom can be sometimes." he snorts softly at the thought.
It was incredibly rare for someone to be this sweet out of nowhere, plus she had just come off a long shift, so sentences weren’t coming easily to her either way. It was an embarrassment really and Julia internally chastised herself for that. At least her name was something she could get a solid grasp on. “Julia, nice to meet you Sebastian.” Thank you, for this, it’s really very kind of you. What inspired this?” @sebastianxwinters
Sebastian looked over at her and she was failing to complete a simple sentence. That just proved how rare it was for someone to do something nice around here. Maybe that's how Sebastian was going to receive forgiveness for the horrible things he had been doing lately. As she ordered her drink, Sebastian then spoke to the barista, "Sebastian." He said and then handed over his card and then stepped to the side before looking back at the other woman slightly, "The name is Sebastian. What about yourself?" He asked her. @doctorjuliasato
If anyone else had told her that everything was okay, the child was in a good place, the parents were happy, she probably would have double checked herself but hearing that from Rhys allowed Julia to believe it. To let out the tension she’d been holding in her chest even during sleep to give him a smile, nodding her head. “Okay, alright great, thank you. I guess that means we need to have a drink to celebrate your handiwork and I can set it to one side until I check on her in the morning.” Knowing full well she’d be in at least an hour before her shift started in order to check in on patients before she was pulled to all directions by emergencies. “That works, give me five.” Holding up five fingers before heading off towards the locker room to collect her stuff.
Throwing on her civvies in record time Julia looked at her hairbrush in the locker considering pulling through her hair really quickly, but then deciding against it. Instead just making her way to the front of the hospital where Rhys was waiting for her, feeling a little more relaxed than before. Which for her was saying something since Julia was never truly relaxed at all. “Where do you fancy tonight? My drinking future is in your hands.” @tctteredwings
Shit indeed, Rhys thought, but he didn't voice it, instead he merely nodded his head and offered her an encouraging smile. They'd all done it every once in a while, it came with the territory, especially so if you adored your job, if it meant absolutely everything to you. It did to him, it did to Julia, he'd known that the moment he met her. "Well her parents are bouncing off the walls with happiness right now, so you're off the hook," he answered her kindly. "You can relax. For tonight, at least." At her words, he shook his head, shrugging it off —- all in a day's work. He'd never really accepted compliments all that well. As she gathered herself once again, agreeing to join him for a drink, he nodded his head. "Okay, you go change, grab your stuff and I'll meet you outside in ten? That work?" he queried with a smile.
