Julia Was Well Versed In Talking To Parents About The Patterns Their Babies Might Fall Into Depending

Julia was well versed in talking to parents about the patterns their babies might fall into depending on outside influences, but right now she was just imparting the most generic for Elliot meaning there was every chance the timeframe could be wrong. “Well, that’s a generalisation, every baby is different.” She attempted to reassure him with a soft, encouraging smile. At his return comment she couldn’t help but chuckle, knowing full well the thing she didn’t often do was lie to preserve a parents feelings because that was a recipe for disaster in the field. If she lied then that would cause chaos with their preparation with what was to come. “I hate to break it to you, but I’d be breaking my oath as a doctor if I told you otherwise, I don’t want to give you a reason to come back to me in a week threatening a lawsuit from misinformation.” She nodded, a half shrug thrown into the mix as well. “Well if there is one thing you can count your blessings for it’s that once she falls asleep a sudden accidental loud noise isn’t going to wake her up. The amount of parents I have bickering in front of me about how one dropped something and woke the baby up…it’s a long list.” @elliot-appsley

Julia Was Well Versed In Talking To Parents About The Patterns Their Babies Might Fall Into Depending

A soft smile graced his lips as he watched Julia's hands, not even minding when she got some of the words mixed up with other signs. Pretty sure that he was still getting the gist of what she was trying to ell him. So he gave a nod of his head in encouragement before his eyes switched over to reading what she had typed down afterwards. As he did so, Elliot made a slight face over at Julia. "Months?" He signed with a raise of his eyebrows, pausing for a moment as he grabbed for his food and took a small bite of it. This time reaching for his own phone as well. See, this is where you were one hundred percent supposed to lie and say only a few days or something. Not months. Letting out a laugh as he turned the phone back towards her before he added more. That's what I sort of figured though, that it was just one of the joys of having a baby. She's just done so well with sleeping that I guess it threw me off when she started having some rough nights. @doctorjuliasato

It was incredibly rare for someone to be this sweet out of nowhere, plus she had just come off a long shift, so sentences weren’t coming easily to her either way. It was an embarrassment really and Julia internally chastised herself for that. At least her name was something she could get a solid grasp on. “Julia, nice to meet you Sebastian.” Thank you, for this, it’s really very kind of you. What inspired this?”  @sebastianxwinters

It Was Incredibly Rare For Someone To Be This Sweet Out Of Nowhere, Plus She Had Just Come Off A Long

Sebastian looked over at her and she was failing to complete a simple sentence. That just proved how rare it was for someone to do something nice around here. Maybe that's how Sebastian was going to receive forgiveness for the horrible things he had been doing lately. As she ordered her drink, Sebastian then spoke to the barista, "Sebastian." He said and then handed over his card and then stepped to the side before looking back at the other woman slightly, "The name is Sebastian. What about yourself?" He asked her. @doctorjuliasato

“Chef and a bartender, impressive.” Julia responded with raised eyebrows, she always was when people managed to hold down two jobs because one could keep someone busy enough without adding a second to the mix. She hovered back a little as they ordered, not wanting to get in the way, but the polite smile returned to her face as they continued to chat while they were waiting. She didn’t get much free time in all honesty, always more focused on work than she probably should be even in her off time, but still she found herself interested to know where the other worked. “So do you work at a restaurant? I’ll have to come and pay it a visit sometime.” @infragilehearts

“Hi princess, how are you doing.” Julia grinned as she reached out a hand to pretend to shake little Sawyers one. She knew neither of them could hear her - but that didn’t mean she was going to ignore the baby, she could still see when interaction with her was happening which was just as important. “She’s growing up so fast, but staying just as adorable.” Julia signed with a grin, a little stilted in her hand movements but since meeting Elliot she’d certainly gotten better at sign language. Her knowledge being basic but enough to communicate with patients if needed. Still she felt relief when he pulled out his phone because as much as she wanted to sign to make him feel comfortable, she was often worried what she thought she was saying was…not right, aka she was saying something else entirely. Pulling out her own phone she read his text, moving to type up her own. “Of course! It’s so nice to see you both away from the hospital. Sometimes it starts to feel like that place is an extended part of my own body. Which can’t be healthy.” A small laugh as she blew the baby a little kiss while waiting for Elliot to read her message. @doctorjuliasato

“Hi Princess, How Are You Doing.” Julia Grinned As She Reached Out A Hand To Pretend To Shake Little

Elliot grinned as he sat up, placing Sawyer into his lap so that he could have his hands free for a moment. If anything, that was by far one of the frequent struggles he didn't expect to have. Having his hands free for signing. Whether it be to his daughter or the people around them. "She really is getting so big!" Hardly able to believe that she had just turned six months. Pretty sure it was just yesterday that he was meeting his baby daughter at the hospital and being signed over full custody of her. Taking a moment to grab for his phone that was laying in the grass not too far off from him. Hoping to make the conversation easier on Julia, deciding to type to her for a bit. Or well, for at least as he could get Sawyer to not wiggle in his lap. Thanks for meeting up with us today- Can't remember the last time I saw you outside of the hospital. He teased with a warm grin his eyes locked on hers, pretty sure that was where there spent most of their time. Or well, at least it felt like that some days. @doctorjuliasato

Julia nodded at the mention of not thinking about actually working here, but the sad reality was a lot of their patients were here for a while - and there would be something to be said for them being able to have help with their schoolwork from a friendly face. “You can of course leave them around for parents who are just bringing their children in for outpatient treatment or shorter stays, but if you were up for doing some work with out more long term patients that would also be an attractive prospect for us.” It was true their parents were dealing with big hospital bills (something Julia took great issue with but had no control over) but at the same time she didn’t feel right in this woman not getting paid either. “Well perhaps there is some way we could work out a reduced rate for patients, after all it’s not fair that you don’t get paid for your work.”

“Charlie, lovely to meet you, I’m Doctor Julia Sato.” Glancing down at the pamphlet where sure enough it stated Charlie’s name where she pointed. As for the anxiety it was understandable, a lot of people found hospitals anxiety inducing, which is why she gave her what she hoped was a reassuring smile. “It’s understandable, but there is really no need to be anxious. I know hospitals can be stressful but I promise we don’t bite.” @callmecharliejones

Julia Nodded At The Mention Of Not Thinking About Actually Working Here, But The Sad Reality Was A Lot

"I do up to ages about, um ten? eleven? and I... actually haven't thought about working here." Charlie said nodding at the doctor curiously but of course kids that had long stays at the hospital might need some help keeping up with school. Even though they shouldn't, they probably had enough to deal with if they were ill. "Oh but I can't possibly charge for that, honestly. That'd be heartless, right? They're ill, their parents probably have too much on their mind already." She pouted to herself, already feeling sad about the whole situation but wanting to do it anyway.

She looked up at the other and gave her a small smile. "Sorry, I'm Charlie." She pointed at the pamphlet in the doctor's hand. "And I'm way too sensitive and terrible with hospitals. And when I'm anxious, I can't stop talking. Nice to meet you."

“Are you a chef?” Well she certainly did know a lot about spices and things. Then again Julia would think someone adding anything other than salt and pepper was impressive since she rarely ate anything home cooked these days. Due to lack of time mostly, but skill as well. Picking up something on her way home from work she could shove in her mouth before passing out or doing more work was far easier in the doctor’s opinion. As they arrived at the counter she ordered her bagel, tapping her phone to pay, and gesturing to the other to place her order straight after. Taking a step back to allow her the space to do so. “Are you a big…uhh...bruncher?” @infragilehearts

Heading out of a patients room the doctor heard the familiar voice of Gavin’s dulcet tones drifting past the noise of machines beeping mixed with the overhead intercom calling various medical staff to different parts of the hospital. Waving back albite it a little more subdued, she slipped her pen into the front pocket of her white coat. “Fancy seeing you here. No, no I’m not allergic to blueberries, at least not last time I ate one, so I’m pretty certain I’ll live to tell the tale this time too.” Smiling at him warmly because truthfully the sweet treat was coming at exactly the right time, the man had no way of knowing that of course but her morning had been pretty fucking brutal in ways she’d like to forget even just for ten minutes.

“You didn’t have to do this - thank you.” His sunny disposition might be a stark contrast to how somber hers so often was but that didn’t mean he always managed to lift her mood. His mom was one of her favourite nurses in the whole place, maybe that was why she’d taken so much to him as well. “The blueberry muffin is perfect. I don’t want to drag you away from your muffin man mission any longer than needed by forcing you across the street - are you looking for your mom? I think I saw her heading towards Radiology about twenty minutes ago.” @mrmcrch

Heading Out Of A Patients Room The Doctor Heard The Familiar Voice Of Gavin’s Dulcet Tones Drifting

it was after a shift at the station that gavin had decided to pop up to the hospital to see his mom, having picked up her favorite soup from santiago's and entering the building with a skip in his step, happily greeting the receptionist and dropping off a cookie to them on his way to the elevator and meets with one of the ladies on the third floor to ask if his mom is available at the moment, nodding and bouncing in place as the woman calls his mother's room to let her know of his arrival, and playing a game of continuously sliding the packaged brownie back to the blond as he keeps trying to slide it back towards her as she speaks to clara.

it's here when he spots the familiar, newer face he was getting more acquainted with since she had started and gavin perks up, smile widening as he calls out to her with a wave. "julia! i've got a muffin here for ya with your name on it...." he drawls out, looking through his bag in search of said snack. "...wait, you're not allergic to blueberries, are ya? that would really suck...but! i could pick out somethin' else for you at the cafe?...or maybe we can go across the street if you're sick of the stuff here...i know my mom can be sometimes." he snorts softly at the thought.

“I guess so, but with the amazing technology these days that can help a ship navigate the chances of them going all Titanic are minimal. So I’d argue in favour of the wind farms but … well I’m not an expert on either thing.” She could hear how she herself was starting to get dry, she could bore people if she wasn’t careful which was why she quickly shut her mouth, happy for the reason to pivot the conversation.

“Maybe.” She smiled softly, picking up her bag before starting back towards the stands that were selling various food and drink. Feet sinking into the sand with each step. “I like it out here…it feels calming, detached from the city.” Julia mused. @tctteredwings

Ana shrugged it off, she really was the last person to care about someone rambling —- in fact, most of the time she'd be the first one to encourage it. Still, as far as she was concerned, it really didn't matter in the slightest. "Depends on the day," she responded with a laugh. "But, I mean, lighthouses are practical, they do have a purpose, even if it's not quite so helpful these days in comparison." A shrug followed and her gaze drifted out to sea for a moment.

As Julia got to her feet, she was quick to gather her things back up, and then followed suit. "Probably should have thought of this before we got settled," she laughed.

It was fairly rare that Julia had time to(or allowed herself) to talk about things that weren’t in some way relating to medicine or her patients which meant whichever poor sod was saddled with her when the inclination struck was forced to listen to her musings. “Yeah, I know what you mean. Mostly I just have to lock myself in an on call room if I want some quiet, even then people end up knocking on the door to get me to do something. It’s not quite as calm as out here.” She half smiled, knowing it was her own fault since she was the one who remained at the hospital even when she didn’t have to be, it helped occupy her brain. “Sometimes the quiet isn’t really…that good of an idea so maybe it’s for the best I don’t get out here that often.” @tctteredwings

It Was Fairly Rare That Julia Had Time To(or Allowed Herself) To Talk About Things That Weren’t In

"Let's hope so," Anna answered with a smile cast in Julia's direction, her shoulders lifting in a shrug a moment later. She wasn't all that bothered if her friend continued to ramble about things, it didn't make any difference to her, she'd listen all the same to whatever she had to say —- it couldn't be any worse than when she started talking about her gaming. At Julia's words, as they walked, she nodded her head. "Exactly why I come out here," she admitted simply. "In the mornings it's my thinking place. Quieter then, y'know?" There was a reason she loved to sit out there and watch the sun come up, enjoy the silence as a bunch of crazies jogged past.

Pressure wasn’t something Julia nor Rhys were unfamiliar with but that was part of the reason why they needed these moments to kind of let go. Not in any kind of wild way, just step away from the hospital and responsibilities that came with their roles to be…well…people. Not doctors for a couple of hours. Not with the weight of the world on their shoulders. Letting out a weighted sigh she shrugged, a half smile on her face. “Living the dream, right?” Was Julia’s response as she zipped her hoodie up, not that it was cold but she’d only just woken up from a nap which meant there was a slight chill running through her.

“Rhys, I’ve spent all day having to be confidant in my decisions, you think I’m going to stop now with something this crucial?” She joked, shoving her hands in her pocket as they headed down the sidewalk, pursing her lips as the new question was posed, considering. “Just drinking I think. If there is too much music involved I might end up with a headache, and not an alcohol related one. I don’t mean like no music playing, I just don’t really fancy live music.” She answered candidly, used to being required to make decisions quickly so at least this wasn’t alien to her.  @tctteredwings

Pressure Wasn’t Something Julia Nor Rhys Were Unfamiliar With But That Was Part Of The Reason Why They

Once Julia had agreed and headed off to get changed, Rhys slowly made his way outside the front of the hospital, finding an empty bench and taking a moment to check his phone. It had been a long day, one with very little time to sit down and relax, several intense surgeries had taken up the majority of his time, along with talking to families and organising his team. There were days when he wondered how he actually dealt with it, but thankfully on those where all things went right, it made it easier to keep on going. He did love his job, after all. Hearing his colleague's voice as she made her way outside to join him, he flashed a smile and got back to his feet again. "All good?" he queried, face brightening at seeing her. He had to laugh a little at her words, though, shaking his head in response at first but already beginning to walk. "You sure you're confident in that decision?" More laughter although he was already working through the options in his head. "In the mood for some music as well or are we just drinking?" An important decision that needed to be addressed before he settled on somewhere.
