I need you, Zoro. You're my captain, Luffy. And I'm your first mate.
Envie de s'évader, de me libérer de cette haine, de cette violence qui nous entoure et nous submerge jusqu'à nous emprisonner. Je veux la paix! Je veux que l'amour triomphe de la haine et que le pardon soit la religion.
I want to take advantage of this post to open a debate (if anyone is interested) about Luffy's dream. You know he told it to his brothers, Shanks and his crew recently but we didn't hear.
So there are my theories:
The first is he wants to make a party with the worldwide. I know it's the most shared theory but I think it fits Luffy as well: he likes party and it brings joy, fun, freedom, and, mainly, this is what brings together. I won't be surprised if, in the end, when everyone find again freedom, they celebrate it.
The second was my first impression (I dropped it for the first one but I want to share it): I think his dream has a link with Joyboy/Nika. Why? Because, in Oden's backstory where he shares a drink with Whitebeard and Roger, after he finished to tell his dream; Whitebeard said : "it's just a childish legend!". In the moment, I thought about Norland's story, and I find it matches the First Joyboy as a legend as well. If this is the case, so, when he would discover he is Joyboy, it will be the biggest surprise.

I've seen some takes about the one piece live action and I'm about to defend some visual choices:
"Roger doesn't look cool enough" he's literally sick and dying at this point. And even then they made him look like a pirate. I 1000% believe the Roger we see would be thought of as the most dangerous/evil man.
"The fishmen look weird" "arlong looks lame" the issue with one piece characters is that a lot of their visuals would have a hard time translating properly to live action. Oda even said things had to change. He has a very cartoonish style that makes his designs unique (with exceptions). They translated them all the best they could, I'm so insanely happy they're doing practical as much as they can.
"Luffys power looks creepy" that is the point. He's a freak. He's a man who shows up and stretches his body in impossible ways. We just now have a good visual of how uncanny and terrifying that is to behold. The devil fruits are called devil fruits for a reason. They clearly put care into making it look as realistic as possible which I'm so thankful for.
I will say my one wish is that the season was a full 10 episodes instead of 8, because one full episode in Logue town leading into the grandline would be fantastic. Especially since we'll get those reaction shots for luffys first bounty. But I'm very happy with what I've seen so I'll let the show runners do what they do and form opinions once I've seen it.
Finally someone has drawn parallels between these two scenes. It's just beautiful and congratulations to the Toei teams for this parallel
if i had a nickel for every time Luffy punched the lights out of a ‘dragon’ until it causes a shift in the animation style, i would have 2 nickels… which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice
We need books that affect us like a disaster, that grieve us deeply, like being banished into forests far from everyone. A book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us. That is my belief.
