So General Amaya’s group finds a guard station abandoned, and one lone guard who failed to signal them.
The guard apologizes and makes an excuse,
Causing the others to turn away and drop their guard.
But the soldier signs “danger” covertly in front of his body,
Tipping off Amaya,
Who then proceeds to save the soldier’s life and get him out of the line of fire.
This tells us 2 things:
1) General Amaya is a super-perceptive, stone-cold badass,
2) This soldier is at least passingly familiar with Sign Language, and used it to give a warning that tipped off the fighting party to the ambush without getting himself killed. He almost certainly knows ASL because his commanding officer is deaf and uses it to communicate with her army. Having a disabled general just saved this man’s life.
I just love that The Dragon Prince gave us a fantastic example of how accessibility (i.e. incorporating ASL into an army to accommodate deaf soldiers) can improve the overall quality of an organization, in a way that also created a tense and well-paced action scene. This show, man.
Trump is going to get re-elected.
Get comfortable saying it. Get comfortable hearing it and thinking it. Because if we don’t collectively get our fucking shit together, it’s gonna happen.
It’s gonna happen because his supporters still love him. It’s gonna happen because even people who don’t love him are thinking to themselves, “well this hasn’t been so bad, the economy is good, we didn’t actually go to war, that’s way better than taking a chance on some newfangled progressive.”
Nevermind the fact that the stock market takes a plunge almost every time Trump does something crazy and the economy is doing well due to Obama-era policies.
It’s gonna happen because I’m already seeing “I wanna take my toys and go home” rhetoric among Democrats who don’t want to vote for anyone who isn’t their fave.
I’m exasperated and tired and stressed and I should not have read the comments on a WaPo article, I know, I get it, but people — kids at the border. The Supreme Court. The stacking of the lower courts. The complete inaction on climate change. The uninformed “stick first, think later” approach to foreign policy. Even if you’re privileged or ignorant enough to sit there and think that none of this has touched your life, that doesn’t mean it won’t. Reading some of the things people are saying about the state of politics in the US has me feeling like I’ve taken crazy pills over here.
Do I have a favorite in the primary? Sure. Does it matter if she doesn’t win the nomination? No. I’ll go to the fucking bat for Joe Biden if I have to because people’s lives are more important than my ego or my principles. I don’t know how else to put that.
Other people’s lives are more important than your ego or your principles. That’s it. That’s the whole fucking thing and I don’t understand how no one has learned their goddamn lesson about this.
Their reflection fails to reverse when the other soul is talking.
Remember Volume 4? Oscar notices something wrong with himself in the mirror just before Ozpin makes himself known.
Here's Oscar initially looking in the mirror, and not seeing anything wrong:
And here's the exact next shot, directly before Ozpin speaks:
Notice how the pockets on his arm and chest fail to switch sides, to be a reverse image like mirrors project, in the second image, but not the first.
Okay, maybe it was a goof in that second shot. It doesn't prove anything.
Here's some images from The Lost Fable with properly reversed reflections:
And now here's Ozma 2.0, just before and during his host asking him what they're doing:
Notice his lock of hair has failed to reverse in the reflection. It's swept towards his left-hand side in both.
Now, this is not foolproof. Not reversing a reflection is a very simple animation mistake to make, as we can see in Volume 7 Chapter 3:
Though, admittedly, Blake is metaphorically a person with two souls. Beauty and Beast in one person, symbolising the struggle between who she is and the person Adam wanted her to be. So maybe it's not a mistake? After all, she is the person who introduces us to the concept of people with two souls...
So, anyway, why do I bring this up?
Well, a lot of people have been discussing Cinder looking sad in her reflection in this week's episode:
Only, as a post by @witch-of-the-world has pointed out, her reflection has failed to reverse.
Now, this could easily be an animation mistake. Place a transparent model of Cinder behind the glass, fail to reverse-image it, easy mistake to make.
And, I mean, where would Cinder even get a second soul from? It's not like anyone was merging souls with the Fall Maiden powers just as Amber died-
Oh.
Both Salem's forces and even Lionheart have repeatedly said that that Ozpin's reincarnation this time around has been much faster than usual. The process usually takes longer.
So, to answer the question, why does Cinder look sad in her reflection?
And we're what? A year out from the Fall of Beacon, as opposed to Oscar's six months?
And there's just... little things that have left me and others suspicious. Her use of spears at the Attack on Haven, knowing that hurting Weiss would hurt Jaune, bringing up the Destiny line out of nowhere in Volume 6, the sheer amount of parallels between Ozma and Pyrrha (even using the same effect for their final deaths), the fact that Cinder's outfit looks kinda inspired by Pyrrha's...
So, to answer the question, why does Cinder look sad in her reflection?
I think there's a small chance that it wasn't Cinder in that reflection.

As they walk into their room, 3 of them, whip out some vodka, food and cigarettes and begin to make jokes about the government and be very loud indeed. The 4th one is trying to get some meaningful sleep and knowing that it would be fruitless to ask them to stop, hatches an ingenious plan. He goes downstairs to reception and asks for a cup of coffee to be delivered to the room.
“Make sure you deliver it exactly after 10 minutes starting from now”
Returning back to the room he joins his comrades midway a Stalin joke. He sits up shocked and exclaims:
“Comrades! You must not say these things! Don’t you know? They are listening to our conversations right now!”
The comrades jeer and laugh at him and say that that is impossible.
“Really? Then how do you explain this?”
He gets up and speaks into the lampshade by the beds.
“I would like a black coffee to be delivered to my room, please.”
And surely enough, in a short amount of time, a maid walks in with a cup of coffee and some sugar.
The other 3 comrades turn deathly pale and quickly turn in for the night. The last comrade drinks his coffee and peacefully goes to sleep.
Come morning the 4th comrade awakens only to find that his friends and all their belongings are missing.
Throughly confused and anxious, the man walks down the stairs to reception to enquire whether his friends had checked out earlier in the morning.
“I am afraid not sir. You see, the KGB raided your room during the night and placed your friends under arrest for ridiculing the Soviet regime.”
“B-but how come they didn’t take me?!”
“Oh, the Captain very much enjoyed your joke”
When The End comes for real, it’s just as Crowley supposed, with Heaven and Hell united against humanity. There are a lot of people who don’t believe what’s happening, but about half earth’s inhabitants do. And they show up for the fight.
The army humans have guns, there are doctors wielding baseball bats and taxi drivers with tire irons. Masses of youths are forming up with nothing but broken bottles and spite to defend themselves with.
Lucifer scoffs at them, his beauty already luring some people from their posts.
Not too many of them, though. Aziraphale has to believe that…
There may be millions of angels and demons among the ranks, united for a common goal, but there are billions of humans.
Crowley and Aziraphale are in the thick of it, of course. Of course. Aziraphale has come into the possession of his flaming sword again, through a series of events that Crowley really doesn’t want to think too hard about.
They stare down the Morning Star across the open expanse of the soon to be battlefield, humanity behind them, as much of it sheltered beneath their wings as they can manage.
And then the Heavenly forces begin to sing.

When you see an animal with its eyes set to the front, like wolves, or humans, that’s usually a predator animal.
If you see an animal with its eyes set farther back, though—to the side—that animal is prey.
Now look at this dragon.
See those eyes?
They’re to the SIDE.
This raises an interesting—and terrifying—question.
What in the name of Lovecraft led evolution to consider DRAGONS…
As PREY?
