I have learned that watching Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure all over again when you already know the exact flow of the story yields some interesting tidbits—particularly, bits of dialogue and animation are really beautiful examples of foreshadowing, and I’m just like “Ah! That’s so cool!”
Unfortunately, me and my spoiler hound attitude has screwed up one of my roommates. The other one is new to Jojo, and I have to reign in the first roommate so that the second one isn’t spoiled when he doesn’t want to be, and it’s weird to be vaguely told “well, I got used to you being ok with spoilers!”, and it’s like...
...ay, even spoiler hounds gotta have manners around others who aren’t.
I decided to design business cards and a logo for my roommate’s corgi, because she’s absolutely precious, and I keep taking so many photos of that adorable corg that my roommate and I agreed to make her an Instagram and help run it in my spare time...because my design work doesn’t need to be clogged up by Truffles 24/7. (You can actually follow that corgi dog over here!)
While we haven’t bothered to print the cards yet (because Truffles the corgi isn’t popular enough to warrant printing business cards in the near future), I do have a print ready Adobe Illustrator file on hand for the event that her business cards ever get printed.
For now, I’m just going to keep the mockup version of her cards on hand. (BTW, I used a modified version of this mockup. After all, edge painted cards are a real thing, and that was something I modified myself.)
Here, have an animation for Star Trek’s 50th anniversary!
Even if it was technically an assignment for my advanced illustration course, I had fun with my sorry excuse for fan art (Yes, I grew up with Star Trek in the 90s. My parents and I would watch both TNG and Voyager together, and TOS on occasion.)
I also had fun revisiting nebulas and space as subject matter for digital painting, and this was a lovely excuse to do that, too. Also, this was actually the first time I’ve ever used overlays in something, to be brutally honest. You’d think I would have touched them at some point if I’ve known Photoshop for years...but nope. Not once.
I may have to make a Zelda 30th anniversary illustration and a Pokemon 20th anniversary illustration to accompany this as well, as I grew up with those, too...(and without parental influence.)
I’m dead serious about this seamless dolphin vector pattern I made a while ago.
I ended up scrapping this a while ago, simply because pastel dolphins really aren’t something that fits in with the rest of my main portfolio, but...yeah...I did make this a while ago.
Dolphins. Yeah.
I’ve been on a roll for the past day or so.
Anyway, have some gothic angel amputation as done by a demon.
I’ve officially completed my own logo. Again. For the umpteenth time now. It’s going to have other applications other than this, but I figured that showcasing it on black lace would be nice.
Current lessons in DuoLingo land; being specific about translating 写真 as “photo” as opposed to “picture” because it’s already a pet peeve of yours to call photographs “pictures” in ENGLISH, and that’s technically what’s going on here already…is apparently a penalty in Japanese.
Also, taking a more literal translation with 良い is also a penalty.
(I’m concerned about this happening with Mandarin soon, too, even if I’ve yet to encounter that at this time.)
I felt like my headphone cords draped around my head would make a neat aesthetic. I was right. Also, I like my face.
Probably not the best work, but it’s more or less a second draft of a typographic quickdraw I made when I was irritated at another classmate over trying to lecture me about gender roles.
I’ve decided to upload my digital paintings from the advanced illustration class I took over the Spring.
I’ve decided to upload my King Lear illustration for now, because I’m pretty pleased with the fact that I know of a slightly different coloring method in Photoshop that...admittedly, is much quicker than what I was doing before.
I was in a bit of a nihilistic mood for the past few days, and decided to spit this out.
The edge, I know.
Greetings and salutations! I'm a graphic designer/illustrator, and this is my Tumblr. Feel free to check my about page for more info about me. Also, I only post my own things here—almost all reblogs will go to @dandyreblogs. Check that out if you're into aesthetics and other curious things.
