Words of wisdom senpai. đ
I used to have a lot of trouble still do with procrastination and I realized that, in my new studyblr days, I didnât know how to utilize my studyblr to help me and it was just another way for me to procrastinate and feel productive. If you can relate to this, you could probably benefit from this little dose of studyblr realness.
Donât use your studyblr just for aesthetics: studyspo is great for inspiration and motivation, and itâs probably what drew you to the studyblr community, but it shouldnât be what makes you stay. You wonât be able to take anything worthwhile from your blog if all you reblog is photos of beautiful notes. Mix it up with masterposts and printables and photos of ânon-aestheticâ notes.
Donât use methods that donât work for you: if you absolutely cannot understand mindmaps but absolutely love the way they look, resist the urge to make them. Youâll only end up confusing yourself and wasting time. Only use note taking and studying methods that make sense to you. 90 percent of the time theyâll be things that you used before you made a studyblr. This isnât to say that you shouldnât experiment with different styles and methods, but only stick to what works for you.
Discipline over motivation: imho, the study community  overstates the importance and effectiveness of motivation. Donât get me wrong, motivation makes studying more enjoyable when you have it, but more often than not you donât. In the end, motivation isnât what makes you study every night, or stick with self studying a language. You have to discipline yourself to study when you donât want to, or work when youâre tired. My old French teacher used to say âDonât fall into the trap of waiting motiviation, and just do itâ and I feel like thatâs super important with this. (1, 2, 3)
Talking about studying isnât studying: sort of related to number 3, donât let your studyblr be another way to put off work. Itâs all to easy to think âIâm blogging about studying; in being productive,â but itâs a dangerous thing to do. Studyspo is great, but donât let scrolling through your feed become another method of procrastination.
Take photos after you study: or during, but not before. I used to spend so long taking pictures of my notes, that I wouldnât have time to study them. I still take too long photographing my notes to take picture, so Iâve started using a pomorodo timer. After 25 minutes, Iâll use my five minute break to take photos. Itâs increases my productivity so much, and Iâm not sure how I ever functioned without that system.
Just get it done (and prioritize): honestly, sometime you just have to forget about trying to make your notes look pretty and just go for functionality over looks. Just let go of any studyblr ideals and do what you need to do. If you donât have time to bullet journal and get your work finished, use an electronic calendar or donât spend so long on your journal. Most importantly, be real with yourself. At the end of the day, you know yourself best, and you know what you need to do.
Good luck on your studyblr journeys lovelies, hope this helped!

mini florals, adapted from client designs. would love to do more stuff like this!
love this list!
aka: shit to bring when school starts up.
Backpack get one you like, that carries all your stuff. pockets are a bonus.
Pencil Case it is honestly easier than carrying lots of little things that are good to have on hand, many of which are listed below.
Pens get ones you like writing with, be it ballpoint, gel, or fine tip. as a general rule, bring black and blue for writing, and red for revising. feel free to bring a few other colors, but be warned that some teachers donât want you to use the.
Pencils good for writing anything you think you could easily make a mistake on. use them for math. if you have regular ones, bring a small sharpener. if you use mechanical, bring lead.
highlighters good for annotating or taking notes. jut one or two will work.
usb even if you use google drive, bring one. you might have a weird project that you canât use drive, or someone might need to borrow it because they forgot theirs.
paper clips sometimes you have papers that need to stay together and thereâs no stapler in sight. these guys are nifty.
sticky notes good for annotating and for reminders.
granola bar or a similar small, packaged snack. sometimes you get hungry in class.
hard candy smarties, jolly ranchers, something like that. good for mid-algebra sweet cravings or rewarding yourself for finishing tat bio test.
band-aids people get hurt. keep cool band-aids for yourself or a friend.
pads and tampons i do not care if you have a vagina or not. thereâs always that day when you arenât prepared and it starts, and you have the horrifying realization that you donât have one. keep well stocked to help yourself or a friend in need. no one will think youâre weird for having a tampon. you might help some poor kid. bring them.
$1 in quarters you never know when someone is going to need extra money, or when the band is going to have a sudden fundraiser selling chocolate
perfume people get smelly. bring a little bottle. pass it around.
hand sanitizer sometimes you touch something gross, simple as that.
hair ties and bobby pins even if you donât use them, someone else will probably need one.
pain pills keep a dose of tylenol. sudden cramps or headaches can come on at the worst of times, and itâs nice to be able to treat it.
chapstick sometimes your lips get dry and icky, especially in the winter. buy yourself one specifically for school.
cough drops for those times when your throat wonât stop bugging you for no apparent reason. very good for choir members, especially when youâre getting ready for a performance and working your butt off.
ipod itâs good to have something to do on the bus, or in extra time, or art class.
phone/ipod charger even if you donât use it, chances are, someone else would love to borrow it from you.
earbuds/headphones same as above. but if youâre using your ipod, for godâs sake use headphones. you may love iggy azalea in the middle of history, but those around you might not
water bottle you will get dehydrated during the day. drink lots of water.
notebooks bring one for each class. you may not end up using every single one because some classes donât require them, but bring extra
folders you can bring one for each class, or have one for homework, or both. find an organization style that works for you.
3 ring binder some teachers require them, and sometimes it helps sort through things.
a book some english teachers want you to have a book for independent reading, and itâs nice to have one if you get bored after finishing work. i like to have one i havenât started when i go in on the first day.
thatâs all iâve got for you right now! there will be classes that require other things, or they might not. it always depends.
good luck! if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
- buy yourself new stationery: i get so excited about using new pens that i donât mind writing that essay iâve been putting off for days
- use a playlist as a study timer: have a selection of instrumentals and songs with lyrics. take a break everytime a song with lyrics comes on and work during the instrumentals
- make your study space smell fresh: mint and lemon tend to be good options
- write down how much time you spend studying for a test and then the grade you got: then you can figure out how time you really need to spend to get a good grade. this will help you use your time more effectively
- spend your study breaks showering or exercising for about 30 mins: then come back fresh and quickly review what you have learned. this will help the information sink in
- donât always study in comfy clothes or pyjamas: do your hair or makeup if you want too. this will put you in âget shit doneâ mode
- record yourself explaining topics youâve just studied: explaining/teaching topics helps you learn so much better, and you also have a little video to review before tests

Study set up for today! Studied for an exam I have tomorrow. I am enjoying having my notes on Pages, far quicker, convenient, and efficient. I can go back to add or change things, I have all of my module assignments and study material in the same document.
Thrifting is dope af. Itâs great clothes for a great price. You can find unique pieces that no one else will have or you can get some popular high end clothing for a low price. Here are my tips for anyone interested in becoming a thrifterâŠ
The dirtier the store the better: I know this sounds gross but if you want to find unique pieces look for the grungy independent thrift stores. People usually avoid these so theyâre less picked over. Also these stores are usually cheaper. And if youâre worried about catching some strange disease from your new dress just wash it! This is what washing machines are for. Also donât worry about hats. Lice can only live on an object for three days so buying a hat from a thrift store is the same as buying one from retail.Â
Ask about sales: Usually thrift stores (especially chains) have pretty frequent sales. My favorite thrift store in my town is half off every Saturday. Ask the employees if they have a list of their annuals sales or you could follow the store on Facebook. Youâll get even more a a bang for your buck.Â
Look in all the sections: Look. Everywhere. From the childrenâs to the plus size mens section you can find something that you dig. Just because it says itâs a certain size doesnât mean itâs actually that size. Someone could have donated it because it was to big or it shrunk in the wash. Plus you can always rock the oversized look. The mens section is my favorite place to find flannels  and the kids section has some great t-shirts. You never know what youâll find.Â
Figure out how long you want to shop: Your time limit depends on how you should shop. If you have all the time in the world search through one section at a time. Pro tip: start at the beginning of a rack and push on it until all the clothes shift to one side. Then you can easily look at the pieces one by one. If you only have a few minutes look in specific sections. Most thrift stores are organized by color. If you want a yellow shirt look on the yellow shirt rack. If you want a denim skirt those will have their own section too. If you donât want a specific item I would suggest looking on the return rack. You can see what other people were interested in. Just because it didnât work for them doesnât mean it wonât work for you. Â
Try everything on: Like I said before, a lot of the items arenât the size the label says. Try things on to see their true fit. This can also prevent you from impulse buying. Donât buy something just because itâs cheap, if you donât like it on you in the store you wonât like it on you in your closet.Â
Wear simple and tight clothing: Most thrift stores only have one or two dressing room if they even have one at all. Wear some simple and tight clothing like yoga pants, a tank top, and a cardigan. Layers are your friend. Find a mirror (Thereâs almost always a mirror) and just put on the clothes over what youâre wearing. This way you can avoid the line to try your shit on and theres no limit of clothing you can try on like there is in most dressing room.Â
Hope this helps! Thrift on motherfuckers.Â
