A ficlet mountain x reader (female)

Plot: Reader is a new ghoul but because of her AuDHD struggles with interacting with others. She feels comfortable with Mountain but unable to express herself with words she is more physical (like hugs, nibbling and playing with his hands)

i don't approve of the self-name-calling but okay, i got you. still waiting on test results for kitty so there isn't much going on rn.

All the ghouls could pick up on the behavioral differences they each had: the soft yet firm predictability of Aether, Aurora's cotton-candy cheerfulness, Swiss' roman candle-explosive yet enthralling personality. With you, they felt an expansive screen of blinking lights, flickering so quickly that it was hard to keep up with all the different directions your mind pull you towards.

Mountain, steady as the earth under everyone's feet, could counter your mental energy pretty well. In his mellowness, he could go along with the long-winded monologues you could have and mostly understand what you were talking about. He also understood what all of your, more commonly used, gestures meant.

Any position with your head tucked into his frame was you seeking safety in him. Hiding yourself within him and letting Mountain take you under his protection. He would handle things for you as long as you needed, whether it was tidying something up for you or reminding you to drink water or telling your immediate supervision to back off for a bit.

Nipping at his fingers, ears, or neck usually were admiration. You had been looking at him and got a form of cute aggression, lovingly looking over his features or thinking of him in that same light. Unable to help yourself, you express yourself and your desire to take him all for yourself through little bites.

When you played with his hands, it signalled that you were trying to calm down or steady yourself. His hands helped heal you and keep you balanced in your mind, so they were associated with that. There wasn't too much affection placed in the action, it was just comforting.

Hugs were always different yet always meant "...and/but I love you". You might've had the roughest day possible but when you wrap your arms around him, Mountain knows you're sinking into that scrubbed-raw feeling and, yet, you want him to know you love him. Maybe you got excited about something and threw your arms around him, sharing the moment with him because you loved him.

His hand smoothed over your head as you lay with closed eyes atop his lap, one of your hands holding his knee loosely. This was trust with you being asleep. It was also reassurance - Mountain was right there for you still. But gentleness too in the way that you held him with a softer grip. The earth ghoul could read you like a book, even if you preferred not to use your words.
