Altogether, I really like the way americans say "can I help you?" as a polite general one-size-fits-all stand-in for "who the fuck are you/what the fuck are you doing here/how the fuck did you get in here/what the fuck are you staring at/what is your fucking problem." Such a polite way of going "bitch what the fuck."

NO ONE knows how to use thou/thee/thy/thine and i need to see that change if ur going to keep making “talking like a medieval peasant” jokes. /lh

They play the same roles as I/me/my/mine. In modern english, we use “you” for both the subject and the direct object/object of preposition/etc, so it’s difficult to compare “thou” to “you”.

So the trick is this: if you are trying to turn something Olde, first turn every “you” into first-person and then replace it like so:

“I” →  “thou”

“Me” →  “thee”

“My” →  “thy”

“Mine” →  “thine”

Let’s suppose we had the sentences “You have a cow. He gave it to you. It is your cow. The cow is yours”.

We could first imagine it in the first person-

“I have a cow. He gave it to me. It is my cow. The cow is mine”.

And then replace it-

“Thou hast a cow. He gave it to thee. It is thy cow. The cow is thine.”

I think I met a new role model this morning, in the form of a professor.

When a student appeared tired, he said, oh are you tired? You didn’t have coffee maybe? That’s fair I only had three which is less than half than my normal consumption so forgive me if I’m not well woken up!

(Can’t insist enough on the fact that it was morning.)

Then he put a slide of his presentation and it was a species of animals and he went like ah yeah I’m supposed to talk about them to you but I don’t like them so I won’t! Next slide!

Other citations include:

So, you were all taught than the brain is three parts then 5, and I’m sorry to tell you your professor lied to you.

So, we don’t actually know how octopus brains work, or if they really have a brain, because when we try to study them they try to escape. And when we present them with a simple activity, they do something else instead. (For exemple, a typical activity would be pulling a lever to have a treat. An octopus broke the lever and played with it).

It’s actually harder to study octopus and crows than rats because they get bored.

Okay, you’re supposed to identify this picture, but you won’t be able to and that’s fair, so let me tell you what it is.

I put that info here because it’s cool but you don’t have to learn it. But you could, cause that would be a cool fun fact to tell your friend while drinking beers this evening.

Also important to tell that this man was very badly dressed, seemed to not have slept in like half a million years and not seen a hairbrush in even longer than that.

Im gonna have class with him next week as well and I can’t wait.

“Jesus cooks and does the laundry. This, by far, is the most striking feature of the resurrection stories in John’s gospel. The first thing he does after he’s resurrected is to fold the laundry. And the last thing he does on earth is to cook a meal for a friends.”

— David R. Henson

Losing my mind over the gospel of Luke being like “they wrapped his body in linen cloth and laid him in a tomb” after the beginning of the story being “they wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger” like

I’m absolutely feral

Do you have a theory about why dogs with short legs are so chaotic?

All dogs are chaotic to at least some degree, it's just more shocking from the short ones because they bear an uncanny resemblance to plush toys. They look like teddy bears, but make no mistake, this is a wolf with social graces and the knowledge that you are VERY easily manipulated by Cuteness.

The novel ones are all real situations in my novels by the way, the screenwriting one are complied from friends and my own experiences.

Funnily enough, I actually prefer writing screenplays because of the limits. My novels are fantastical magical other worlds with dragons and sorcerers, but my screenplays are mostly realist family comedy-dramas.

(Except the Baby’s First Steampunk Horror and The Mystery Series Set in an Asylum For Were-People, but they’re exceptions)

"Pope Francis Said During An Interview One Time That He Fell Asleep During Prayer. The Interviewer Asked

"Pope Francis said during an interview one time that he fell asleep during prayer. The interviewer asked him whether that was allowed, and he said that fathers always love it when their children fall asleep in their arms. That always stuck with me. Rest in peace." [x]

If I wasn't doing visual arts, I'd be inventing my own music genre, that would be centered around the divine idea that no matter how dark, horrible, bleak and joyless the world can get, at least I have a trumpet and the power to make it worse.

I will be honest guys, the Red portrait of king Charles is gorgeous asdfghjkl

it's a bad portrait. Like. Objectively. It does the opposite of what's intended. It looks like the painter is insulting him. If it was in a contemporary gallery with no context you would see it immediately as the ambivalent criticism of Charles's reign, how he fades into the overwhelming red background as a tiny little figure, small and insignificant, insufficient for the clothes he's wearing. It reminds my of Goya's portraits, how they were so 'realistic' that they ended up making these great figures look pathetic to the viewer. So these are our rulers?

the sheer novelty. the surprise and shock, the kinda cunt it's serving for no reason. I. I love it. It's an incredible portrait by Jonathan Yeo. By the sheer fact that Charles, the man, is impossible to portray as greater than man because he's just such a nothingburger of a dude. So a portrait made to make him look huge and interesting made him be swallowed in red brushstrokes. The butterfly, that reminded me immediately of " we will all laugh at guilded butterflies", draws more attention than him. It looks like an omen. It looks like a warning in all this red. Something is not right here.

This is the best royal portrait ever 10/10

I am really enjoying the driving polls because my dream vacation is to get into my tiny yaris by myself in los angeles and drive to Maine over the course of like three days then stay at a campsite for a week and drive back.

It is a very bad thing that living in the US basically requires a car to function, but also I just genuinely love driving and find it relaxing and am good at it.

There's scenery! There's stuff to explore! You find weird bugs at rest stops! You turn off the highway for a second to take photos! You see lots of fun people! Truck stops have neat stuff!

That's a huge part of why I do the whole "get myself lost on purpose and find my way home" thing. Huh! Fun restaurant! I never would have found that if I hadn't gotten lost in Long Beach. Huh! nifty roadside art! Glad I took a wrong turn and ended up in ridgecrest! Wow! This is a really pretty drive! I have no idea what road we're on but we're going south so we'll get home eventually, and until then check out the dirt devils chasing the power pylons! Look! Horses!

Microstory

“Sanctuary,” the child cried, running into the library. “Nice try,” the guard following after sneered, “but only holy places can grant sanctuary.” The librarians glanced at each other. A small nod. The head librarian gave the guard a stern look. “Sanctuary granted.”
