Do you think Kaneko's Seraph was partially inspired by Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody? I know some of Kaneko's designs had some subtle, tasteful pop culture influence but I'm not sure if I'm grasping at straws here or not.
Man, this would totally be a Kaneko thing to do. It is unusual that Seraph has four heads in the first place. And the position of the hands compared to Freddie's... this is convincing.
Ever since I learnt bout angel tiers as a kid I always wanted to draw em all but only now did i get around to it-
Wanted to have it where they progressively get more abstract and inhuman the higher the tier goes cause who doesnt love a lil cosmic horror? I also took some liberties with the descriptions of all the angels cause lotta them kind of overlap and sound similar.
there's definitely a megaten influence in digimon, but there also a straight up reference of persona. this artwork of lucemon (a digimon obviously referencing lucifer, that it also has similar to that 12 winged louis image) it is doing a pose that is extremely similar to the one of persona 1 Lucifer's artwork
Well damn, Persona 1 Lucifer and Devilman Satan had a baby, it seems. How uncomfortable is that thought?
This looks like Meta knight’s about to jump Dedede for 1st.
is probably one those details that are just here to look cool and nothing else, it doesn't make that vishnu "non-vishnu" and they can stay there
Asking you because I can't find anything about it myself. What are those two long objects strapped onto Vishnu's back, near his shoulders? Are they non-specific items that represent snakes or do they have an established identity?
I have no idea!
Have seriously been wondering about these for the longest time. If you know what these could be, drop me a line!
KIRBY + SONIC
What are your thoughts on what a kirby rpg would look like?
First of all. It should be directed by Kumazaki and written by Mie Takase. Then it will be 11/10 by default.
But that aside, in terms of gameplay I think there's lots of possibilities of adapting Kirby's copy ability into jrpg mechanics. I think I would make it so Kirby would be basically this game's Eevee but ADVANCED. He can change his "typing" from "normal" after defeating certain enemies and he can keep it, but he won't be able to level up after certain point if he keeps it on to balance things out. Which would force the player to change up his copy abilities and try different ones, levelling up various skills.
To balance things out, I think party members that are not Kirby also should have the ability to use copy ability typings, but not the same way Kirby does. It would work like elements in Star Allies where they are applied on their base ability (for example, Dedede's Hammer) which allows for wider variety of coverage and potential new skills. Here it doesn't have the same limitation as Kirby, but since party members are stuck with the same base typing all the way, it's encouraged to mix things up to allow for better strategy.
Of course this idea still needs some fleshing out, but I think I explained the gist of it.
Also, while I think it will be turned based, I want it to be turn based in the same way Mario RPGs are, you have action elements in the gameplay. Blocking, dodging, pressing button at the right time to make your hit more meaningful. Said action elements would change up depending on what kind of typing you currently have.
Warning: Long Post, Bragging about
For me, it’s tied with Valigarmanda (not Tritoch) and Ultima Weapon (not Atma Weapon, as much as it hurts me since i love DDS but i digress) both from FFVI
Valigarmanda is such a underappreciated Summon, Esper, Eidolon, whatever. i love this Quetzalcoalt-looking thing (i don’t know if would be a better feathered serpent design for quetzalcoalt than smt 1 quetz but that’s beside the point) despite how much important it is for FF6′s plots (being the first Esper you encounter not counting the half-esper herself, terra, which speaking of which, it also help her to unlock her esper form) it’s kinda of a shame that outside of it’s debut game, it barely appears, and most of it’s other “appearances” are just reference to it (which an antagonist from world of final fantasy being probably it’s most important non-ffvi “appearances”) i think it’s gimmick being a “tri-elemental” summon would atleast make it stand out for most other summons in the franchise.
Ultima Weapon is also very badass design and (thankfully) it does appear in more FF games (thought sometimes other i can be a pain trying to refer specifically to this thing since i usually refers to the weapon (both the FFVII and the literal definition of the word) of the same name. (also Battle to the Death slams)
honorable mentions, in not particular order:
The Weapons from FFVII
Odin
Behemoth
Typhon
Sprite Gilgamesh (yeah, i’m kinda weird)
Diabolos
The Four Fiends from FFI
The Four Archfiends from FFIV
Shinryu
Sefer Sephiroth
Alexander
Leviathan
Deathgazer
The Warring Triad
so what's your favorite Final Fantasy Monster? (whatever if is "myth accurate" or just looks cool)
Accuracy to myth is definitely not something that figures into my appraisal of FF designs. Anyway:
this was the most freak shit that a preadolescent soren ever saw. still unfuckwithable to this very day. god this shit is sick. fuck!!!
