Slightly Canon Headcanon: Kai is very respected among the airbenders, but he doesn’t realize this for a long time.

He starts of as:

Tenzin: Do you really want our first member of the Air Nation to be a thief and a liar?

He ends up as:

He earns respect, a place in the Air Nation with his own actions and who he is.

How? Well, buckle in.

His actions under Dai Li’s training

The Dai Li kidnaps the new airbenders in the Earth Kingdom to train and make them the Earth Queen’s elite fighting force. Kai is captured too, along with many other airbenders. They are kept in an unknown place.

In “In Harm’s Way”, we see that they are pressured to go under a training to become soldiers Dai Li wants them to be. In the first training, they are expected to fight against each other.

Two airbenders attack their opponents, cut to the other side, where they redirect the attacks and counter, knocking them off. Kai redirects his opponents blast and prepares to attack fiercely.

Kai’s opponent, Yung, cowers, says that he is not that good.

Hearing this, Kai goes easy on his opponent by sending an easily dodgeable, soft attack.

A little airbabies doodle dump with some of my fav headcanons.

For example, Meelo is a stinky 10 year old boy he is not getting the girls, he's having a burping contest with Rohan and planning world domination with his lemurs.

Ikki on the other hand is SO FRUITY!! Everything about her screams lesbian cheerleader and she would be getting the girls!! Which is why I propose the most goated ship tuyen x ikki! Sorry Meelo you'll find someone else. And Tuyen is most definitely the friendly oblivious bisexual!

Rohan is the most food motivated person ever and would do almost anything for a sugary treat. He's also a big tuyikki shipper (because tuyen always gives him the best candies when she comes to visit ikki).

Of course Kai is being his typical gremlin self and Jinora is all for it. Kainora 4eva!!
