אנחנו חיים כאן. ובסופו של דבר, אנחנו רוצים שלום. אנחנו רוצים לחיות. בתור מי שבאים מחברה של מצביעי סמוטריץ' ואוהבי בן גביר, הרוב המוחלט אפילו שלהם לא שונאים ערבים כי הם ערבים וחושבים שיהודים הם העם הנבחר הנעלה אתנית- הם שונאים לחיות בפחד מפיגועים וחושבים שגזענות תפתור את זה. מעטים כאן האנשים שלא בסך הכל רוצים לחיות בשקט. אלה החיים שלנו, וגם הפלסטינים שחיים תחת כיבוש וגם הישראלים שחיים דרך מלחמות ופיגועים פשוט רוצים שזה יפסיק. אנחנו פשוט רוצים להיות מסוגלים לצאת מהבית בלי לפחד שירו בנו או ידקרו אותנו, לנסוע באוטובוסים בלי לפחד שהם יתפוצצו, להקשיב למוזיקה בלי לקבל התקפי חרדה מדברים שנשמעים קצת כמו אזעקה. אני לא יכולים לדבר על החוויה של פלסטינים שגרים כאן כי אני לא פלסטינים, אבל בסופו של דבר הם בני אדם ואני מניחים שהם גם רוצים את אותו הדבר.

אבל מבחינת האמריקאים שיושבים בבטחה בבית שלהם? גם אלה שרואים את הקונפליקט בצורה הכי הוגנת ומדויקת, הם לא מפחדים. מבחינתם זה לא עניין של חיים או מוות- זה עניין של עקרונות מוסריים. גם בשביל אלה שמבחינתם זה לא סיפור שהם רוצים שהבלורבוז שלהם ינצחו בו, זה מבחן. זאת טרגדיה במרחק אלפי קילומטרים, והם רוצים להשתמש בתפיסות המוסריות שלהם כדי לנצח בה. אתם תומכים בזכויות של ילידים לארץ להיות עצמאיים? אתם תומכים בשחרור האזרח? אתם תומכים במערב? בקולוניאליזם? בשוויון זכויות? היררכיה? לא משנה מה היא תפיסת העולם שלכם, הנה אופציה מצויינת ליישם אותה!!!!!!! הם ניגשים לקונפליקט בנקודת מבט של עקרונות, במקום בנקודת מבט של חוויית חיים. זאת הסיבה שיש קווירז פור חמאס- הם חיים את הקונפליקט בתור משהו עקרוני שבו החלשים צריכים לנצח על החזקים כי קווירים היו חלשים לאורך ההיסטוריה, וזאת התפיסה העקרונית שלהם. לא משנה איך זה משפיע על קווירים שבאמת חיים כאן. הם לא פונים לקונפליקט בבדל של אנוכיות או מחשבה של איך זה משפיע עלי, כי יש לזה 0 השפעה עליהם. זאת תנועה עקרונית מבחינתם, לא חיים של אנשים.

רובם המוחלט האנשים שגרים כאן מוכנים לוותר על העקרונות שלהם. הציונים הכי ציונים שאני מכירים היו מוכנים לתת לפלסטינים חצי מהמדינה שהם תופסים בתור שייכת להם אם זה היה מגביר את הבטחון שלהם. השמלאנים הכי שמלאנים יפי נפש מצדיקים כרגע הפצצות בעזה שגובות מחיר של חיי אדם אזרחיים כי הם חושבים שזה הדבר היחיד שיגן עליהם מפיגועים. זה לא עניין של עקרונות מבחינתנו, או של מה שאנחנו רוצים אידיאולוגית או העולם שאנחנו חושבים שהכי צודק- אלה החיים שלנו ואנחנו רוצים לחיות, ואנחנו רוצים שכולנו נחייה. רובם המוחלט של האנשים כאן לא רוצים במוות של אנשים מהצד השני של הגדר בשביל הכיף, הם רוצים את זה כי זה מה שיביא להם בטחון. חשוב לי להבהיר שאני לא אומרים את זה בתור הצדקה לרצון במוות הזה וכי אני חושבים שיש לנו זכות פשוט לזנוח את העקרונות המוסריים שלנו ולהשאיר את האמפתיה בפח. אבל בסופו של דבר גם האנשים הכי טובים שפועלים בשביל שלום ופתרון מדיני ושוקלים גם את החיים של אנשים מהצד השני של הגדר, עושים את זה כי הם חושבים שזאת הצורה שתהיה יותר יעילה בהגנה על החיים שלהם. מבחינת אף אחד כאן זה לא עניין מופשט של עקרונות, גם אם יש לעקרונות שלנו חלק בזה. זה עניין של פחד. ואנחנו מוכנים לוותר על הארץ המובטחת או על זכות השיבה או מה שזה לא יהיה אם זה אומר שאנחנו לא צריכים לפחד שיזרקו אותנו מהבית שלנו, שירצחו אותנו או שיחטפו אותנו או שיאנסו אותנו או את המשפחה שלנו או שלא תהיה לנו יותר מדינה שתגן עלינו מהאנשים שרוצים לעשות את זה או שלא יהיה לנו מספיק אוכל ולא נוכל לבקר במקומות שקדושים לדת שלנו או במקומות שיש לנו היסטוריה בהם. זה לא עניין של תמיכה בהתנגדות אזרחית לאויב רע וגדול, זה עניין של החיים שלנו ומה יקרה לנו ואיזה זכויות יהיו לנו ואולי אם יש לנו מספיק זין לשים היום ועדיין אכפת לנו מלהיות אנשים טובים יש לנו גם אמפתיה כדי לחשוב גם על מי שבצד השני של הגדר ועל העוולות המוסריים שנעשים כאן. זה לא אומר שלא אכפת לנו ושיש הצדקה לפעול רק בשביל עצמנו ולא מתוך מוסר כלשהו, אני חושבים שהאמפתיה והמוסר האלה הם הדרך האפשרית היחידה לפתור את הקונפליקט ושיש לנו מחוייבות להיות תמיד הכי אמפתיים שאנחנו יכולים. אבל בסופו של דבר החיים של כל אחד כאן יכולים להגמר בשניה אם הוא מנסה לפתור את העוולות המוסריים האלה בצורה הלא נכונה, וזה משהו שאנחנו תמיד זוכרים ופועלים על פיו כשאנחנו הכי אמפתיים שאנחנו יכולים להיות. וזה באמת ההבדל בין פעילי שלום ישראלים לבין קווירז פור חמאס: הפחד. התפיסה של הקונפליקט לא בתור משהו עקרוני, אלא בתור מציאות. אנחנו לא רוצים שהטובים ינצחו, גם אם אלה חלק מהשיקולים שלנו- אנחנו רוצים שלום. אנחנו רוצים לחיות.

Saying a people don't have a right to have their own country is racist. Comparing the biggest trauma in Jewish history to something else/using it against jews is antisemitic.

Claiming Israel is an "ethnostate on stolen land' is just wrong. Jews are an ethnicity, but non Jews also live in Israel. About 20% of Israeli people are Arabs. Also, Jew is an ethnicity. Where does this ethnicity come from? The land of Israel, so it isn't stolen.

Me'orot is actually a sci-fi convention! It is also an Aguda con. They Also have Dorot which is in Heifa and is at the same time as Harucon so it's less popular. I never been to one of their conventions, but Bein Hashurot are trying to follow Noar Kore's footsteps, so they might be worth checking out. Also, about the animusicals, you can find many of them on Youtube. And the Sushi's free and Janken musical both have English subtitles, but there are many others avalible in Hebrew. I really recommend volunteering in the convention - I volunteered in about 6 cons and it's very fun to help the fandom community, meet new people, and help make the conventions

BOY DO WE

There are 4 big conventions in Israel, run by two organisations- the Israeli Society For Science Fiction and Fantasy(known shortly as "Ha'Aguda), and AMAI, the Israeli Manga and Anime Organization.

The Aguda's conventions are the biggest and most well-known. There's Icon during Sukkot and Olamot("worlds") during Passover, and both are always in Tel Aviv. Those are the comic-con of Israel- they have everything geeky and fanish, from every type of media. They last 2-3 days, and are free to enter but you have to pay to go into specific events. Those are my favorites!

AMAI's conventions are centered around Japanese media and culture. There are also two- Harucon at Purim(the closest con), and Animatsuri at the summer. Those cons costs money to enter, but once you're inside you can go anywhere as long as there are free seats. Those cons are in Jerusalem, and are very big. They also sometimes include a run of an Animusical(anime-inspired original musical production done by members of the community)

Other then those 4, we have lots of smaller cons done by different organizations and for different specific topics- there's Meorot which is a Harry Potter and LOTR con set during Hannukah, the Aguda also has Mitopia in the summer, that's centered specifically around books, and there's Draconicon for DND and RPG players! And a lot more! Last year I also had the chance to go to the first Sha'atnez, a con surrounding specifically Jewish Fantasy and Fantastic Judaism. It was fantastic and I REALLY hope it'll be an annual thing.

Interesting thing about fan culture here- the main two groups involved in it are queers, and religious orthodox jews. Both are in the fannish scene in much larger percantages then they make of the general population! I suspect the religious thing is because Shabbat-keepers have a lot of time when all they can do is read, and queers are already very dominant in such communities, but it's still very cool I think:)

Anyway fun fact, I've been in the artist alley for... 6-7 cons up untill now? My favorite to sell in was Noar Kore which sadly does not exist anymore but I REALLY like doing those booths.

I remember meeting my best online friend in the fucking woods. The stupidest thing I ever did. Luckily she was (and is) my age, not creepy, and a great person overall. But what the FUCK were we thinking? We met in a public bus station and them immediately went to the woods. Like wtf??? It was not an actual wood so people were there every like 30 minutes but what??? I just thought my parents would kill me if they knew so we secretly met IN THE WOODS. What the fuck 12 years old me. What the fuck.

ok but legitimately i think the reason why kids aren’t taking internet safety seriously is because the people who are telling us not to put our personal information out seem so out of touch. no one acknowledges the possibility of meeting very real teenaged friends online, they always say that everyone you meet is a 40 year old white man in disguise. because they aren’t acknowledging things we know are true, it becomes a lot easier to dismiss the rest of what they’re saying as well. internet safety lessons absolutely must keep up with the times and acknowledge the internet’s capacity for good if you want kids to take to heart warnings about its capacity for bad.
