Bucky wanted nothing more than to kick Y/N off the case and send her back to wherever the hell she came from. Once Stark announced he was pairing the two up on the Midtown Murders case, hell had very nearly broken loose. Y/N stormed into Stark’s office with a coffee in one hand and her other pulled into a fist, smoke near enough flowing out of her ears and eyes nearly glazing over red.
A few days had passed and the pair couldn’t think of anything worse than being paired together but here they were, ten minutes into a thirty minute drive to Brooklyn, the static of the car radio mixing with their deafening silence, choking them both slowly.
Bucky was accustomed to the silence, taking on cases alone meant he could work in peace, catch the bad guys, file his paperwork and move on to the next one. Silence surrounded his person. Detective Barnes kept silent about his personal life, his emotions and most of all, he kept silent about her.
Y/N tapped her fingers on her thighs, eyes flickering from building to building as the car passed them. For someone who lived in the city, she never saw much of it in her own time - the downside of being a cop.
