I hope this doesn’t seem biased cuz I like the OG series (hell I wouldn’t rewrite this if I didn’t) I’m just trying to show off how I write these two.

Kaname is born in what will later be England.

1120:

Kaname is bitten and after committing a massacre of people, escapes to a ship and tries to sleep forever.

1637:

Kaname wakes up in Japan, eats the people who find him, walks into the sun to try and die. It does not work.

1643:

Kaname meets the “Hooded Lady”, Tani Kuran, a fellow vampire who wears a Japanese wedding dress half the time. She gives Kaname the name Kaname since Kaname forgot his original name (Cain I.) and he takes her surname, Kuran. They fall in love (very weird codependent love) and have a son named Christopher/“Krist” (he’s dead).

1646

After the Hooded Lady attempts to kill the current vampires in charge to stop infecting Japan and influenced Kaname to join. While Kaname is fighting with the leader, Tani steps in between the two to protect him. This allows Kaname to kill his opponent but, in doing so, he unintentionally impales Tani also. Tani tells him she might’ve done this on purpose.

Kaname burns the rest of the current council down but decides to seize control in their place before leaving Japan, thus leaving Vampires having no power there.

Though this is throughout time nearly all of Kaname’s descendants inbreed and die, except for Juri and Rido.

1761:

The dhampir and future revered vampire hunter Kaien Cross is born in a British colony (he’s Irish).

1779:

Kaien throws a rock at Kaname’s head in anger at the bourgeoise. This causes the two to meet.

2002:

Yuki Cross/Kuran is born.

2003:

Zero Kiryu is born.

2004:

Ichiru Kiryu is born.

2005:

Emi Yagari is born.

2007:

Juri Kuran-Tomita, Kazuya Tomita (Juri’s husband and Yuki’s father), and Rido Kuran are killed. Yuki is turned into an amnesiac pseudo-human and taken in by Kaname before being given to and adopted by Kaien.

2014:

Toga Yagari (33 years old) mercy kills his wife Babette after she’s bitten and turned, she begs him to kill her before she goes berserk.

Emi is nine when her father comes home and frustratedly says her mother isn’t ever coming back because she is dead.

Toga would later lose his left eye a few months later.

2015:

Ichiru is bitten and conceals this using illusions.

Zero and Ichiru’s parents are killed in an orchestrated killing by Ichiru and Shizuka Hio. Zero is bitten. They are taken in by Kaien after Kaien saves them from dying and kills Shizuka.

2021:

Part one begins.

Late 2021:

Ichiru Kiryuu kills Kaien Cross. Vampires are exposed to humanity.

Zero gives up half his humanity to evade execution with the help of Kaname.

2022:

Society collapses. The world goes to shit after vampires are revealed, The Council only does stuff that will get them more power. America and Russia nuke each other, Japan closes itself off, groups of humans live in underground colonies, the sky is permanently grey so vampires aren’t affected by the sun. The Japanese military splits off and joins either the Hunters or the Catholic faction known as the Templars.

Zero fights Kaito Takamiya and leaves Kaito behind with a magazine of silvers. (A Light Novel I planned)

2023:

Part 2 begins.

Zero saves Emi from a club in which she is a sacrifice. Though Emi kills the other half of the club.

Zero, Emi Yagari, Toga Yagari, Kaname Kuran, Hanabusa Aido, Ruka + Akatsuki Souen, and the hunter army kill the council and dismantle the council’s reign.

Zero and Ichiru fight each other while Kaname kills any remaining councilmen. Ichiru dies. Immediately after, Zero is speared by Yuki and Kaname sees Zero’s body before killing Yuki, his final descendant, in vengeance.

Kaname blows up Cross Academy, and he almost dies. Albeit Kaname is given Yuki’s heart so he is comatose.

Emi Yagari resurrects Zero Kiryu with help of Toga Yagari by getting his metabolic processes back on with magic, which takes weeks.

A day or a few hours after Emi Yagari resurrects Zero with help from her father, The Templars nearly kill her for this as this would make her equal to or above God/Jesus. Aido quickly diverts their attention to “other pressing matters”.

Kaname wakes a week later without his memory.

Yuki Cross is dead. Ichiru Kiryu is dead.

2024

Part 3/Post-Series

5 months after, Zero wakes up.

Emi has become Cross Academy’s headmistress, though she’s more of a “Mockingjay” situation.

Cross Academy is rebuilding.

Kaname Kuran’s memories are brought back by Zero Kiryu.

Kaname attempts to starve himself for a week out of just wanting his life over. Zero finds him.

Kaname and Zero get together after a whole deal of Kaname being pissed off zero brought him back but then Zero isn’t taking his shit and then they have say gex in the abandoned apartment and dam now they are boyfriends and the series goes on as weird slices of life.

Also some American soldiers come in lol wonder what’ll happen there (a lot)

Emi has her son Mei. The father is unknown.

2046

Kaname and Zero get married.

Yuki: “But then where is Charmy, and where is the guy who made the robot? And so many other things! High School Drama is just so crazy to be a part of…”

Yuki (Part 2): “Sonic just grinned at her with an evil look and just as she started to open her eyes and see his white eyes above her, he punched her right in the face. Amy was now in a lot of pain but still confused and surprised and maybe thought she was nightmaring. But no, it was real, and new Black Sonic on drugs was about to beat all of her shit out of her.”

Ichiru: “I am going to kill my parents," said Shadow. See this is how Shadow is worse than Knuckles, he did serious bad things. At least at the end of the day Knuckles could sleep. Shadow was too dark for that.”

Kaien: “Rouge grabbed her two babies and had them both eat from her terrific boobs. She smiled and felt like a mother”

Hanabusa Aido: “Tails secretly had a crush on Cream and wanted to feel the body of his sexy friend (…)”

Some part 2 Yukis. Rambling about OG Yuki and Rewrite Yuki under the cut.

I’d planned to make her a tragic antagonist ever since I began writing the rewrite, due to the hatred of her character. However I realized I never really had a problem with the original Yuki, other than any time she had an opportunity to be a badass that’d instantly be negated. Later on I’d realized the OG Yuki Cross was in fact a victim that came into her own, who’d she’d never asked for anything but to be with her family and weird brother grandpa husband ew.

I aimed to make Yuki in the rewrite much more competent a character, and strictly regulated to Zero’s adoptive sister and Kaname’s final descent/granddaughter. With writing her she went to default happy character that turned evil because if brainwashing to a woman relegated to simply being a teacher by her adopted father and caretaker of her two adopted brothers, while also having her actual past kept from her at every moment. I constantly have “YUKI IS DEFINITELY OKAY” jokes when you know that’d very much be the opposite.

I actually have grown to really love writing her as the one much more mature sibling out of the Cross-Kiryu children, and it’s very clear this woman knows a lot more than everyone assumes. Plus the plot actually allows her to shank people with her scythe (renamed Artemisia).

While she loves her family deep down she aims to get an actual job and find her past no matter how much Kaname attempts to keep stuff from her. Which pisses her off. Eventually she’s stuck believes Zero murdered her own adoptive father and half a school when that was in fact Ichiru, and were leave part 1 at that.

I’d say in Part 2 and times between Ichiru brainwashed/groomed (non sexually Ichiru’s awful but even he’s disgusted by the idea of that) her into becoming reliant on him—by doing sets like holding the fact Kaname never told her anything above her head. Not just because of that but the fact he was capable of telling her say any time but didn’t, and cut off, killed or imprisoned anyone that could help Yuki. But there’s also an element of Yuki letting this happen.

Deep down she knows Ichiru is off. But for the first time in her life she gets illusions of control of her life and other things, and she’ll seize it. Even if it is a lie. And then there’s parts where it’s possible she’s even aware of what’s going on, and is spiting everyone by covertly goading on how they could have saved her.

Why’d she kill Zero in the end? She didn’t mean to. Cycle of revenge, tragic reoccurrence, all that. But in the end, because of that, Kaname breaks after witnessing someone he grew to love, Ichiru in some fashion wins because Zero dies knowing his own adoptive sister killed him, when all he wanted was her to confide in.

Even if she isn’t there anymore.

Rambling about Toga and Emi below

Toga and Emi! Originally, Emi wasn’t going to be related to Toga, but then I figured it’d be a great way to tie into the OG series by having Toga be her father. It was hard writing Toga as a shut father but the type where it’s semi-understandable and viably forgivable enough that they can slowly become better.

That being, originally he was just going to be absentee. But then I decided to base Toga off Brad Armstrong and realizing Toga’s perspective of Part 2, is basically: oh dear god my daughter who I’ve forced to stay inside a safe house for years has been “kidnapped” by that albino fugitive who had turned her into a killer! I will finally save her and make my life worth something in the end and get better and take her with me! And then by the time he does that or at least attempts to he gets fuckin tackled by his own daughter and gets all his shit beaten out of him by her.

To be fair though he did basically make Emi experience The Yellow Wallpaper: whole house edition and didn’t even let her go out for food, he does love her, it’s just he is absolutely horrible at saying stuff and doing stuff. There’s honestly so much “to be fair”s in this scenario.

Either way Emi prefers Zero (as her brother-figure) to the point where she’ll pull a Jesus and resurrect him and Toga helps cuz it’ll be the weirdest father-daughter bonding ever. I love them both tbh Toga’s a fuckin mess and Emi’s a mess that evolved into…dirt? Idk

VKR- Vampires

At their core, Vampires are like feral cats or even drug addicts: they’re desperate creatures that will do anything to get the blood they live off of because of the inescapable need to drink blood at any cost. It cannot be cured, as it is a species-changing curse/condition. I also don’t like it when there are cures for it.

Vampires that have regular access to blood are composed creatures, and high-society vampires are usually so. However, if thirst kicks in after a while, they’ll do anything for the blood they need. They cannot eat human food, as they’ll vomit it out after a minute. The only solid thing that makes their stomachs feel full is flesh, and they’ll vomit that up, too, after a minute.

The origin of vampires is like VTM (Vampire: the Masquerade): the first murderer (Cain) was cursed by God to only be able to feed off of his own kin. He would live forever with his ailment, but at the cost of being extremely fragile, the sun would peel his skin, and he’d be stuck with an animal’s features to hunt prey (super speed and strength).

The Vampire’s bite is, effectively, The Mark of Cain. So it makes sense that Hunter’s Mark is called The Mark of Abel.

Vampires' abilities are the usual speed, strength, and enhanced agility, but also the ability to manipulate blood since a weakness of vampires is their own blood (like in the Tokyo ghoul, with ghouls being weak to their own Kagune). Few purebloods (or vampires born as vampires with mostly vampires in their line) have special powers, such as illusory abilities like Shizuka and the Hio bloodline.

The basic classes of vampires are:

Class A: purebloods, or vampires born as vampires. That’s literally it. Half of the night class are purebloods.

Class B: Similar to purebloods but with some humans in their line, though the humans are either turned or the human side is overwritten by pure vampire DNA. So a mildly less respected version of Purebloods

Class B (subsection)/"Class C": There are also vampires that were once humans. These guys are the most common to find in your city and prefer to keep to themselves, while the other third are just hedonistic asshats, and one-third are just trying their best to work with humans.

Class E/feral vampire: Feral vampires are like your usual street junkies or feral cats. Desperate creatures who couldn’t find enough blood to live off of and are grateful for whoever will provide, no matter how sketchy. Unfortunately, their humanity is nearly gone, and they have certain periods of relapse where they can’t hold themselves back and will drink from whatever body is near, whether they want it or not. They can be any vampire; they just need to be devoid of blood for so long that they look pretty skinny.

Untouchables, Daywalkers, and Half-Breeds: Dhampirs or half-humans Their blood is considered the most repulsive to taste. The high class sees them as diluted and gross, while most class B’s just don’t really have much of an opinion about them, though ironically, both are a bit jealous of them since their human side allows them to walk in the sun and have little need of blood; in fact, they get sick if they drink too much.

Feral vampires, or "Class/Level E's," also have some cat and dog-like behaviors, such as food aggression and hissing; sometimes, they’ll even eat a tiny bit of flesh for the hell of it, but most vampires can eat flesh before promptly vomiting it, as well, though they don’t because, yknow, that’d just make them straight-up zombies or ghouls. Plus, flesh is unnecessary in the grand scheme of things, and you know, they’ll just vomit it out. (Based on that one scene in The Lost Boys where the vampires straight up eat a dude.)

The vampire's weaknesses are the traditional silver, stakes, religious symbols, the sun, holy water or weapons, and their own blood. Silver is highly corrosive to vampires, and if a vampire holds something silver, it’ll take about a minute before it fully corrodes through their skin to their muscles. If they are shot, their organs will start melting unless it’s removed. Also, some magic spells work against them, though many vampires also use magic, like the Aido family. Vampires get highly nauseous and dizzy around the religious symbols they worship.

Vampires most recognizable features are their pale, corpse-like skin, pointy elf-like ears, and red eyes. They cannot blush because blood has stopped running in their bodies, though they still bleed. Their hearts do not beat.

Once they are bitten, vampires go into a berserk state where they’ll drink from whatever multiple people are near them since they need enough blood to fill their bodies. Suppressed vampires have the worst of it since they need several years' worth of blood.

Vampirism can be suppressed in two ways: the Hunter’s Mark tattoo, a tattoo that goes over the bite that keeps the subject looking human and their thirst in check, though their thirst will come out in random bouts, and if they’re around blood, it’s most likely they’ll lose their control.

The second way is a spell that completely seals off both their vampire side and their memories, but eventually, the subject will go insane from hallucinations and nightmares if the spell isn’t lifted by biting the subject. The spell requires a blood sacrifice that will kill the caster permanently.

Common slurs for vampires used by humans or hunters include:

Kaname has a shitty…I’d guess this would take place at 2 AM tbh. Either way he’s finally breaking after 923 years of seeing everyone he loves and his family die.

They are in fact pretty minor characters but Yuki’s Parents/One of Kaname’s last descendants (that I drew a while ago) + Rido (The the other one of Kaname’s last descendants and Kaname’s least favorite descendant). Rido’s dead before the series begins, because he’s the vampire that attacks Yuki. So that’s why Shiki sadly doesn’t exist here. Juri was fun to design because I like to draw horrific scarred deformed stuff half the time. Kazuya is literally the most normal man in the series and is kind of reasonably annoyed and afraid of the supernatural interference (Kaname threatening him every minute) but eh what have you.

For Rido I can’t tell whether I yassified or de-yaasified him. One blue eye from the spell that got rid of his deformities. He’s a dude who’s got this very charming, nice and sweet personality (save for hedonistic guy who doesn’t know how satansim works and enjoys blood sacrifices) he’s a fun unhinged kinda guy (“AYYYYYEEEE ITS UNCLE RIDOOOOOOOO”) who’d be Gary Oldman’s Sid Vicious if Sid Vicious was,, actually nice and didn’t abuse women or kill dead animals. “yeah I committed murder multiple times ain’t I cool?” And is crazy because of the inbreeding stuff basically. Dresses like how he thinks Black Sabbath dresses. Bcz he’s a fuckin punk. He’d be great to be around if he wasn’t. Obsessed with getting Alabama ass.

If you can’t tell I have a wholeass light novel outline for these 3 tbh. I have entire light novels planned man. I love being lost in the sauce

Artbreeders i made of Yuki and Emi a long while before i did those edited portraits of the characters. I still like Meisa Kuroki as Yuki but honestly I love the artbreeder a lot more.

Some art of Ichiru from a good while ago cuz I have a lot of art for this series. I think I drew him here cuz I didn’t have enough art for him at the time. Rambling about VKR Ichiru below.

I find it really funny that I turned Ichiru into the main villain of the series since in the OG he was kind of just some ungrateful sick kid with a thing for older women and basically Vergle DMC but less…power (literally)

And then in VKR he’s one of the worst siblings in fiction and probably one of the most evil characters I’ve ever written because the guy is a legit sadistic psychopath not taught right and wrong at the right time which leads to a domino effect of him going “I’m gonna let my parents die so Zero feels sad” to “I’m going to kill my own adoptive father, half a school, help the council nuke the US and Japan, and brainwash my own older adoptive sister just so Zero can be even angrier when he comes back and even before that I’m going to taunt him on BreenCasts, because the only thing that brings me happiness is making my older brother suffer for something that never happened”.

God I love him he’s so awful

Also fun fact the reason I gave Ichiru an eyepatch + diff hair parting in the first place was to differentiate him and Zero’s appearances!

Kaname occasionally calls Zero “coney” because that means “rabbit” in old/middle English. Zero is called a rabbit half the time and a dog the other half but he tolerates rabbit and has no clue what Kaname means so he just lets it happen

There was an attempt at anantomy

Anyway Kaname and Zero’s body types. I didn’t want either to be easily twinkifiable/feminizable/chickifiable, so I tried to set body types that were muscular and different enough to not be considered lithe.

I also got the ✨courage✨ to give them body hair bc realistically they wouldn’t be hairless, they’re men permanently in their 20s in a weird apocalypse and they’re men so.

For Kaname I see him as some kinda stocky fencer-type—though fencers don’t have a specified body type you get it because fencers=weird ominous gracefulness and high society, all that.

Zero in part 1 I’d say is kind of scrawny but then part 2 because he acts feral/like a dog half the time he runs on all fours and thus has very strong arms. But that’s paired with the fact he doesn’t drink much blood not cuz of a sense of honor, but because even when he swears not to wallow in self-pity anymore he’s still self-flagellating.
