Every time I look at art it feels like I’m eating it with my eyes. The line art and shading, proportions and color palette, All of it shifts around in my eye as if I was holding it in my mouth…

Howdy it’s me, been dealing with a slight illness…
Nothing too bad, but I hate sleeping with a fever. I always end up getting nightmares. Although today the nightmare I got was just plain
Weird
I basically dreamed up a clip compilation of a Saw movie, only instead of being the regular formula it was a road trip, comedy-esque, slapstick fest…
Like Jack*as on wheels… The scenes would always play out with a victim and then the “Saw” guy (played by Ryan Renolds with Deadpool makeup, idk why) And each clip would be a random “torture” moment filmed like a funny bit…
The clips themselves are kind of a blur for me… all except one.
The victim and Ryan “SAW” Renolds are stranded at the side of the road, I guess their car broke down, And their in the middle of a conversation, the contents of which are not important, all of a sudden Ryan just shoots the victim with a staple gun, The victim obviously yells out in pain, and starts to back away. Ryan just gets closer and keeps stapling him, he says “Don’t be such a baby!” And to his credit he’s not just stapling Willy Nilly, the victim has a small gash around their lower stomach which is where he’s stapling… (Im not a doctor but… I don’t think the gash was quite that large to warrant staples but oh well). Anyway the Victim starts running away with Ryan hot on his heels. Ryan catches up, and the two end up in a skirmish, which results in the victim wrenching the staple gun away. Now the boot is on the other foot. Ryan is bent over catching his breath, as the victim slowly approaches him for some payback. Ryan then starts
SPRINTING LIKE A GAZELLE ON THE SAVANNAH
Trying to get away from the victim with the staple gun, at which point I said NAH, and opened a settings menu and just pulled down the slider on Ryan’s speed so the victim could catch up. It’s really funny seeing how he ran cause he was doing a simple “Running” animation but for no reason his character model was bouncing around 6ft up in the air like he was on a pogo stick or something, although he wasn’t ACTUALLY on a pogo stick. Do not miss interpret that, there were no pogo sticks in this dream…
Anyway, the victim catches up and shoots Ryan with staples… Then I woke up…
To be honest, I’ve never actually seen a “SAW” movie, truth be told I kinda hate horror movies… especially overly graphic ones… But for some reason that entire dream was just labeled “SAW” in my brain and the whole time I knew that this was the intended source…

“At first I thought it was a design flaw… the builders adding a 0 by mistake and extending the floor 10 times its intended length… but as I walked towards the toilet I found that it seemed to be getting further and further away… I started walking faster… feet turn to miles but I don’t seem to be getting closer… I’m running now and the end of the bathroom is getting farther and farther out of sight, I’m sprinting at full speed, the dull need to use the restroom is now a burning pain throughout my entire body, it’s so far. How long have I been running? Every step I take sends a wave of fire through my core. It HURTS!!!! The agony continues and builds with each passing step, what was once a simple task has evolved from a bathroom break to begging permission to lay down and die. I’m progressing solely because to stop now would invalidate all the pain I’ve felt since not just entering the hallway but through my entire life…
And suddenly everything peaks and for a fraction of a second the world is still… And then the toilet reappears on the horizon… It’s getting closer again, the pain is starting to numb… my pace is slowing and the deep agony within me is transforming into neutral complacency… Running turns to walking, Miles back to Feet… And then I’m there… the end of the hallway…
I open the toilet lid and unzip my fly…
I don’t feel like peeing…

THE SWAMP IS SUCKING OUT HIS BRAAAAAAAAIN!!! OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!
In 2016, I have made a post about how in Super Mario Galaxy, whenever Mario sinks into a swamp, his head shrinks to allow his arm and hand to reach out of the swamp without his head being in the way. Normally, this cannot be seen in-game as it occurs below the surface, and requires external tools to move the game's camera.
If Mario sinks into the swamp after hitting the edge of a platform in the manner shown in the footage, a desync of the animation will occur whereby it will activate while Mario is still almost completely visible. This allows the shrinking of his head to be seen in-game.

My brain is still not adjusted to the idea that it’s the “2020s” like someone will say something so profound like “Megaman 11 came out in 2018” and I’ll think to myself how long ago was that? I could’ve sworn it came out like one or two years ago… and then it’s 6 whole years ago and I just wanna crawl into a small hole and feed off the planets nutrients to build power and generate an invasive hive mind infection for the sole purpose of erasing the idea of years from the minds of the earth…

Sometimes I think about the age old question when it comes to mind readers.
“If two mind readers read each others minds, who’s minds are they reading?”
And looking back, it doesn’t make sense, wouldn’t they just react to each others thoughts as they’re reading? Y’know like there’s the thoughts that you’re reading and then your reaction to those thoughts…
I guess that’s how telepathic communication works.
Decided to imagine what a kids book from super earth might look like. Having a lot of fun with helldivers 2! For democracy!

Something I try to keep in mind when making art that looks vintage is keeping a limited color pallette. Digital art gives you a very wide, Crisp scope of colors, whereas traditional art-- especially older traditional art-- had a very limited and sometimes dulled use of color.
This is a modern riso ink swatch, but still you find a similar and limited selection of colors to mix with. (Mixing digitally as to emulate the layering of ink riso would be coloring on Multiply, and layering on top of eachother 👉)
If you find some old prints, take a closer look and see if you can tell what colors they used and which ones they layered... a lot of the time you'll find yellow as a base!
Misprints can really reveal what colors were used and where, I love misprints...
Something else I keep in the back of my mind is: how the human eye perceives color on paper vs. a screen. Ink and paint soaks into paper, it bleeds, stains, fades over time, smears, ect... the history of a piece can show in physical wear. What kind of history do you want to emulate? Misprinted? Stained? Kept as clean as possible, but unable to escape the bluing damages of the sun? It's one of my favorite things about making vintage art. Making it imperfect!
You can see the bleed, the wobble of the lines on the rug, the fading, the dirt... beautiful!!
Thinking in terms of traditional-method art while drawing digital can help open avenues to achieving that genuine, vintage look!

Back In Highschool
I had a class in the magical world of
GAME DEVELOPMENT
And our end of year project was a fully complete game. And at the time I was really into games like Donkey Kong, Mario bros, and Annalynn.
Unfortunately,
Due to my lack of know-how the game was never “complete” per say. Rather I got far enough with some stand in characters to make the passing grade. Regardless, here is some of the character art I made while planning… who knows, maybe I’ll resurrect the idea in the future…

Digital doodles today! To be honest, drawing isn’t hard at all, the hard bit is drawing something the EXACT way I want it to look… I could probably study the stuff I wanna draw more but I don’t just wanna end up copying it, I just wanna mesh it with my existing ideas…
