Regardless of your interpretation of Langdon's relationship with his wife, that man LOVES being a father. He's got a little friendship bracelet that says dad, whenever their is a child tragedy he is already on the phone to hear his kids and make sure they are ok. He bought them a puppy just because his four year old wanted one, desire to make them happy completely overriding any kind of common sense. Just he clearly loves being Dad, he is like daydreaming about mowing the lawn in white New Balance sneakers, he is mentally grilling outside during their birthday parties or whatever.

And there is so much to be explored with regards to how little time he actually gets with them. Residents get almost no time off for anything so you know he misses them and you know he feels guilty and you know the puppy is BECAUSE he feels guilty.

And we talk a lot (as we should) about the resentment that grows in the primary parent at having to be On and expend all their time and energy on caretaking, but it is also possible for the parent who is not there and is spending less time to be resentful of the other parent for GETTING so much time with the kids. IDK I just think it is an interesting thing to think about in terms of his relationship with his wife because he clearly loves those children.

thinking about whitaker half a year into the roommate arrangement. him gaining weight because he's eating more than stolen hospital food. the dark circles under his eyes lightening up because he's sleeping on a proper bed. not having to think about where he's crashing that night when he clocks out of work.

This might sound weird, but something I really love about The Pitt is the silence.

Medical dramas often get this so wrong, obviously for cinematic effect, but still; during an emergency in the ER, there isn't this overly dramatic yelling or shouting. Medical personnel needs to act fast and communicate a lot between nurses, doctors, technicians, and it cannot be done effectively if everyone is losing their shit crying and shouting. I am not saying there's whispering, but people are so focused they cannot afford to be dramatic about the actual dramatic situations unfolding; they need to stay clear-minded. Also, there is no tense or fast paced background music irl.

And the Pitt gets it: beeping and sounds of the machines aside, there is no unnecessary noise.

The only noises are patients arguing, mostly with each other or with their relatives -accurate- or the resident friendly neighbourhood drunkard yelling in the corridor to whomever passes by he wants to eat -also accurate.

silent communication using the eyes, even better if it's blatantly in front of other people.

santos turning to whitaker, about to ask him to fetch her something, and the camera pans to whitaker with said thing already in his hand.

just one mention of a shared spotify playlist between them. please.
