Waaaaay back in the Horse Days I made a series of MLP themed posters where the main idea was to not actually show the horses at all -try to keep it a little vague, but still use all their colours and symbols.

I think it came from the idea that some people would like to show their fandom of MLP without the obvious and implicit ponys in it for one reason or another, ergo the posters.

This one is Pinkie Pie; Best pony and literally Weird Al's Waifu.

Magical Girl in Training

Fighting evil by moonlight. Winning love by daylight. Never running from a real fight. She is the one named Sailor Moon!

I never really watched Sailor Moon or any of the other magical girl shows, but much like other anime tropes like big mecha and kaiju and super sentai it kind of just trickled culturally into my brain over time.

Temple of the Golden Tuber

Turnip 28! I love the setting and the amazing amount of world building and model kitbashing you can do with it.

This is my first landscape piece in a long time, and whilst I'm not super happy with the paint/texture on the temple I'm pretty chuffed with the work I did on the ground and sky.

The idea behind this is that in the far east and even farther north of the world of Turnip 28, lies a country in the thrall of a devious & dominating vegetable intelligence. It claims cultish dominion over the lands that used to be eastern europe in the world of T28, and is ever seeking to spread its sinister (and delicious) tubery tendrils into the rest of the world. One day all shall join in its starchy communion!

I’ll have to steal this idea for my Blades in the Dark games!

Also, you could reverse the process to inject poison, acid, or pressured air to really fuck people up

Syringe + Rapier concept. Two in one.

Hematomancers use this sword to collect fresh blood, as well as release blood in attacks.

Fresh natural blood is used for many things, including healing. Void blood is taken from demons, and is commonly used as ammunition thanks to it's destructive, toxic properties.

Hematomancers can keep the vials of blood in their arsenal, or they can sell it in markets.

The endlessly endearing Mr. Mub Mub, as voiced by the irrepressibly energetic @baronharkonnen (SpeakerD)

I love how genuinely alien the Xenians and other aliens are in half-life, from their biology to their mannerisms to their speech quirks. SpeakerD does a fantastic job of conveying the true alien grasp of social interactions in a way that is both funny and very empathetic.

The species in HL also have some interesting means of making art too, which is what I tried to get at here. I like to think if Mubby wanted to make a self portrait, it would look a little like this.

Observers Guide to Kobolds #3

Kobold burrow, Illustrated!

A kobolds bedding will often be a shared space, albeit a quiet one. There is little privacy in the burrow even so, with their few personal belongings kept in small bags, pots and shelves close to their sleeping shelf. Kobolds will make their bedding with dried stalks & stems, and if cloth is available will readily make use of it. Scaled hides do not require soft furnishing, but cushioning is always valued.

Gently glowing fungi and gems are often kept in the communal dens, illuminating the area just enough to be a comfort and help guide those awake. Scavenging insects will sometimes find their way in to feast upon the discarded scraps of previous meals, and then find themselves part of the next meal the kobolds around inbibe.

Art & graffiti are commonplace in the shared dens, usually depicting the inhabitants in addition to their thoughts and feelings on recent events. Dissenting imagery will appear closer to latrines, approving imagery closer to sleeping areas.

The folk over at Ogre Poppenang have the remarkable ability to make a character hilarious one moment, and heartbreaking the next. I think Kevin here is one of my favourites. I hope he survives the series.

Lemme tell ya, making a guy with a nose like a mosquito look forward wasn't easy, but I think I got it in the end.
