“his eyes were oceans deep, and i was thrown into its embrace without learning how to swim; caught in the moment, though harmless, i remained still for it felt more like the shades of blue found in the sky than the dark, dwelling hues down below. his eyes were tundra which i ran across, frozen air and flakes of ice that pinned me down and held me in place. staring through to my soul my eyes were windows, open fully for his to adventure into; glued to the frozen ground i stand, those frozen gems piercing into mine and as paralyzed i should have been i stood still on my own; winter never did me any harm, nor would he. his eyes were forget-me-not’s and i was struck with amnesia as fragments of the person i was prior to his numbing gaze; parts of me died within those lovely shades of blue, a canvas splattered in hues only he knew how to paint; from winter to spring, summer swept by and created butterflies along the petals decorated in his smile, and i swore i saw heaven and earth at once caught in a moment of awe. his eyes were rain, falling further and further, closing in on the world he knew it as and yet no one seemed to look back up; no one ever asks why his head hangs so low, or why he traces the rain as if it is the only touch he has ever known; maybe his eyes were rain because summer came and passed, only to leave behind a dreary autumn colored in the humble shade of regret.”

The fox's long nose wiggled, taking a quick whiff of the cone the girl sat in front of it. And then he puffed.

" It SMELLS like my UNCLE'S FARM ! Which.. didn't REALLY smell NICE. " A furry hand scratched his chin, eyes narrowing. Thinking about the farm and what conspired then wasn't that good of a memory, he shrugged.

" I GUESS you have a POINT. But I meant ice cream that was NORMAL, not... QUESTIONABLE, "

aside from the answer being completely incorrect ( seeing as strawberry was the best flavor ) … it also assumed dot was incapable of knowing that there was no such thing as all favorites. parents had their pick of the litter, and farmers had their cream of the crop.

“ all of them? ”

on cue, she whips out a fresh scoop of horse flesh icecream. suffice to say, it’s gross, and dot’s wearing latex gloves over her regular white ones.

“ even this one? ” she asked stickily, widening her eyes into the best mock-up of innocence she could muster — which, knowing her, was considerably. dot waved the cone in front of the fox’s eyes, daring him to taste it.
