You weren't the one who wanted a cat. In fact, you were against the idea when Atsumu originally suggested it to you one Friday night while he laid on your lap, watching you use your phone with heavy-lidded eyes as you played with his hair when suddenly, he blurted out:

"I'm getting a cat."

You moved your phone aside to give your boyfriend an incredulous stare. "And have you make me take care of it all by myself after you realize that pets require high maintenance? No thanks."

Atsumu jutted his bottom lip out, displeased. "Please?" His eyes sparkle, lips downturned into a pout as he attempted to coax you into give in to his suggestion with his infamous puppy-dog eyes.

You boop his nose. "Nice try babe, but my answer's still no."

Three days after that, he shows up in your shared apartment with a kitten in his arms without warning, smiling unabashedly at you and leaving you no other choice but to welcome the pet to your home otherwise, and you quote Atsumu, he's never going to talk to you again. Petty bastard.

But one month passes, and Atsumu's beginning to regret adopting that damn cat which you named Tsum-Tsum (he still can't believe you named the cat after him). He feels kind of honored that you did, but he's too busy sulking and brimming in jealousy to celebrate this because, in spite of you being completely against owning a cat a month ago, now you look at Tsum-Tsum with stars in your eyes; the same look that you usually reserve for Atsumu and Atsumu alone.

See, you never wanted a cat. And yet, now he finds himself fighting against that very same cat he brought home, for your attention.

Atsumu arrives from practice later than usual. He's beat. His arms are aching from throwing balls all day and he's starving. As soon as he enters the apartment, he discards his bag somewhere in the hallway, too enraptured in his eagerness to find you that he couldn't be bothered to glance at where it lands; after a long day of practice, all he wants right now is you tucked in his arms and some food.

He finds you in the living room. Your head is resting on the headrest of the couch and you're too busy watching whatever's playing on the flatscreen that you don't notice him until he calls out your name.

Your lips are quick to stretch into a smile as you sit up at the sound, and his heart practically melts at the sight. God, he sighs dreamily, you're so fucking beautiful.

"How was your day?" You ask.

"Bad," Atsumu mumbles as he walks towards you.

Your smile drops, worry taking over your pretty face. "Why? What happened?"

He leans down when he's close enough to you, pressing his lips on your own for a brief moment. "You weren't with me all day," He answers, pouting.

You rolled your eyes, smiling fondly at your boyfriend.

Noticing a small lump on your lap from the corner of his eyes, he looks down and scowls. Atsumu shoots the kitten sitting comfortably on your lap a glare, and he swears Tsum-Tsum shoots him one back.

His scowl deepened.

You see this and chuckle, moving your feet on the ground so Atsumu can sit next to you. "Stop bullying the cat, Tsumu," You mutter, amused.

"He started it," He plops down on your side, glum. Immediately, Atsumu takes the kitten from your lap and puts him down on the floor so he can lay his head on you. Tsum-Tsum hisses at Atsumu.

You gape at him. "Atsumu!"

Atsumu grins at you, feigning innocence. "What?" But his grin quickly fades into a frown when Tsum-Tsum jumps back to your lap not even a second later.

You coo at Tsum-Tsum, running your hands through his fur while he purrs in delight.

Atsumu's blood boils.

He's the one who's supposed to be laying on your lap dammit, and your hands should be playing with his hair because you're his girlfriend.

"Such a cute little kitten," You continue to coo. Facing Atsumu, you flash him a grin. "Right, Tsumu?"

Atsumu huffs, stubbornly turning his head the other way with his arms crossed over his chest. He really shouldn't have adopted that cat.

An hour later and your attention is still fixed on the kitten on your lap, barely even sparing your own boyfriend who's pouting beside you like a child and is desperate for the comfort your hugs bring to him, a glance.

"Y/N," He starts, patience wearing thin.

"Hm?" You don't take your eyes away from Tsum-Tsum.

Atsumu sighed in annoyance. "Y/N," He repeats again, trying to get your eyes to look at him.

This time, you don't even respond to him, too caught up in watching your show and petting your purring cat.

"That's it," Atsumu snaps. He plucks the kitten from your lap again and puts it down on the ground. Before Tsum-Tsum can even think about returning to your lap, Atsumu has swept you into his arms.

You blink in surprise. "What are you doing?" You look at him with accusatory eyes. "Put me down."

"No," Atsumu says firmly. He stands up without warning and strolls to your shared bedroom, carrying you in his arms: bridal style.

The both of you enter the room, and Atsumu kicks the door behind him shut so the cat can't come in and steal you from him again. Atsumu gently places you on the bed after, ignoring the perplexed look you're giving him as he dives into the bed and snuggles up to your side, one arm wrapped around your waist possessively.

Despite yourself, your cheeks flush. "What's this about?" You mumble, moving slightly to your side so you can lay more comfortably. You reach up to draw random shapes on his back, humming.

"Mhm," He sighed in content. Finally. "Missed you."

Your laugh echoes around the room and his chest warms at the lovely sound. He never gets tired of hearing your laugh. Even just hearing it puts him in a good mood. If Atsumu had his way, he'd have you by his side everytime of the day. He loves you that much.

"Kiss me?" He tilts his head up, eyes closed and lips puckered up expectantly in your direction.

Smiling so wide that your cheeks start to hurt, you oblige, because who are you to say no to your adorable boyfriend?
