There’s a reason a sewing kit includes scissors, a wood shop has a saw, and a kitchen is full of knives. In order to build something, to create something on purpose, you have to be prepared to cut away what’s extra. A bolt of cloth does not a blanket make, a piece of wood a shelf, nor a loaf of bread a sandwich. When you snip off frayed bits of string, cut the wood into shape, or slice the end off a loaf of bread you are creating, with the act of removal, something closer to what you desire.
Now let’s say you’re not sewing a blanket, you’re not building a shelf, not making a sandwich. Let’s say you’re crafting a life in which you are happy. You will end up removing things. You’ll leave partners, stop talking to family members, let go of friends. You’ll move apartments, lose jobs, change wardrobes. And you will feel their absence. You’ll look at the scraps of cloth, the odd angles of wood, the stale end of the loaf. But that cloth couldn’t keep you warm and that tiny corner of wood can’t store books. You wouldn’t be full from that little bit of bread or happy with that person. In the art of creating there is the act of removal and it is essential.

17-year-old Rowan Thompson, a private school pupil who changed his name from Ben when he began identifying as genderless, visited his mother, 50-year-old speech therapist Joanna, for the weekend at her village home. The teen had recently gone to live with his father, Marc, a magician. Mother and son engaged in “stressful” conversations about his living arrangements. The teen decided his mother was “controlling and over-bearing.” The following day, 1 July 2019, the mother and son went for a morning jog. When they returned home, the teen “felt strange,” and began strangling his mother. Joanna Thompson fell to the floor, and Rowan Thompson strangled her until she was rendered unconscious. “10 or 15 minutes later,” the teen returned to find his mother still breathing, and used a knife to stab her 64 times in the neck, 38 times in the forehead and 16 times in the arm. At 12:45 PM, the teen called the emergency number and reported in what Coroner Jason Pegg would later describe as a “calm, unemotional and quite ordinary manner”: “I’ve just killed my mum. I need someone to arrest me as that’s what you do and an ambulance would be nice. I strangled her and I’ve been stabbing her with various knives and whatnot. My younger brother is at school, he’s due back later tonight. … She’s not breathing… bring a body-bag or whatever you do. I’m 99.9 per cent sure she’s not breathing.“
He “made sure” her breathing stopped, the teen told the operator, and “put the knives in the dishwasher just in case.” The arresting officer found the teen “extremely calm and composed” and “more concerned about his cat.” Rowan Thompson was placed in a secure mental health facility. His trial was set for 7 October 2020. Four days before the date, he was found dead. Police said Rowan Thompson’s death is not suspicious. The inquest into the teen’s death is scheduled to take place next year. The youth had a history of suicide attempts and depressive bouts, and spent prior stints in mental health hospitals.
Marc Thompson insisted Rowan Thompson was “troubled,” but never aggressive, loved his mother and planned to become an architect. He said the system had failed Rowan Thompson by always placing the teen in single-sex units, despite the teen’s ‘genderless’ identity. He claims two psychiatrists thought the youth “mentally incapacitated.” Psychiatrist Dr John Sandford told the inquest into Joanna Thompson’s death that Rowan Thompson had minor autism, but he found no indication of “abnormal mental functioning.” Sophie Rugge-Price described her sister Joanna Thompson as “shy, gentle and kind,” “always thinking about others” and “devoted to both her sons.” A girl with minor autism identified as nonbinary. If the father was told the kid was “mentally incapacitated” why didn’t he try to find a better facility?
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO
We have agreed as a society that those under 25 are too reckless and stupid to rent a fucking car. But yeah go ahead and permanently change your entire endocrine system. A single state putting legal protections on that age group is *checks notes* genocide.
Some background:
I was inspired to do this when I went to the grocery store for some ice. Some of my followers may know that I was laid off in July, mere days after emergency gallbladder surgery. I’m deep in debt, living off my pension of 2 weeks pay for every year I worked there. I have to be very careful with how I spend my money. I was in line at the 99 Cent Store, just buying ice. When you buy ice at this store, you ask for it at the register, pay for it, then go get it on your way out the door. I guess too many customers were putting ice in the cart and wandering the store for hours, causing lots of slip hazards.
Anyways, I was in line and because I had no items for the belt, I just put down two separators to indicate that I was a person between the guy ahead of me and the guy behind me.
The guy behind me started to load up his groceries, but placed them between my separators by mistake. I just put a new separator down in front, to recreate the opening. No big deal. He immediately apologized when I explained I just have ice. We had a pretty short laugh about it, and when I went up to pay, the cashier said it was $1.10. I had $2, but forgot about the tax. I turned to the guy behind me and said “Hey man, you got a dime? It’d be a shame to break a whole dollar.” He immediately said yeah and grabbed a quarter. “I got you.”
Thanks, man.
The next part is the call to action.
On my way out, I told him “May 2020 be the year that everything goes your way. May you benefit in ways that are important to you, whether you know what they are or not.”
I’m hoping the world gets a little bit better for everyone this year, when kindness is rewarded with blessings.

Jenny Nicholson might be the closest I've ever seen. Her content is much more niche, but her content has that jokey carefree vibe. She's probably more low energy than a male in her same genre, but that doesn't get in the way of the comedy usually. She'll also just pick topics that are very silly in nature. (like for instance a chronicles of a road trip to acquire a giant spider plush)
Another component of, a lot for adult women are boring. Women aren't allowed to do silly shit without it being sexualised and you see this play out during puberty where more and more girls self censor, shrink and give up the whimsy of prepubescent girlhood. And I think it's getting a lot worse with how far reaching porn has become.
We know we're being monitored and watched and I think it makes teens girls insane. There are very few socially accepted outlets for female silliness that's not sexualised or physically neutered.
Sometimes you were an autistic middle schooler who said the wrong thing and that's okay you don't need to kill yourself about it in your mid 20s
