Happy Birthday to our precious & adorkable setter, Kageyama Tobio [12/22]
I want him... so badly
Teru being a (cute) fashion disaster (◡‿◡✿)
You meet him in the most unconventional way when you and your friends decided to try out the new ride in the theme park nearby. Based in South Korea, Disco Pang Pang is a circular ride where people sit at the edge of a circular seating with their arms gripping (in many cases, not for long) the railings - imagine sitting on the inside ring of a doughnut and being spun around at a high speed. There is no seat belt and music is played loudly, while the circular platform spins around and violently bounces the passengers up and down and then side-to-side.
The reader is gender-neutral.
Part of the Fluffvember event hosted by @starglitterz. I’m not the best when it comes to modern au fluff so… I tried to make this as refreshing as possible.
Featuring: Aether, Tartaglia/Childe, Thoma
The DJ seemed to be hell-bent on flinging you off your seat today. Since the start of the Disco Pang Pang ride, you had been thrown across the lap of a tanned man wearing an eyepatch, clung to the leg of a woman with purple twin tails to stop yourself from tumbling around, and had a man wearing a pair of bright red horns on his head wrap an arm around your legs to stop you from flying everywhere.
What kind of predicament will you find yourself in next?

10) Kamisama Kiss
Kamisama Kiss is an interesting shoujo. I found it to be fairly unique compared to other shoujos and yet also found it to be a shoujo that held many of the tropes the genre normally has. I know charm is something that is typically subjective, but I found Kamisama Kiss to be a very charming show. From what I’ve seen, a lot of people have a similar opinion, so watch it if you like shoujos.
9) Asagao to Kase-san
I love how normal and teenage Asagao to Kase-san is. It’s really sweet to see the beginning of a relationship along with the awkward fumbling that comes from it, especially in a wlw romance. It’s cute and the movie is only an hour long. The manga is a little longer.
8) End of the Fucking World
End of the Fucking World is a good example of doing edgy, shitty teenagers right. I found myself rooting for them to get out of their…situation successfully and happily, even though it’s obvious that’s not going to happen. Watching the two of them slowly soften and care about the other was extremely satisfying. The series is pretty short. I watched it in about a day. So next time you get some free time this show might be a good idea.
7) (500) Days of Summer
It was really good. The story was told in a unique way and the characters were likable and their relationship was endearing. You could understand why they ended up together and why they liked each other while also seeing how they were ultimately not good for each other without making the characters look stupid. It’s a really good romantic comedy. I would recommend it.
6) Wotaku ni Koi Wa Muzukashii
Writing good. Pacing bad. That’s the base of the show. It’s an office romance! Those are normally pretty fun, and this one is! The opening and ending sequence are incredibly fun. I don’t have much to say about this one in all honesty. It’s a romantic comedy with dry humor and romance viewed through a mature lens. It’s good. Check it out.
5) Bloom into You
Yeahhhh Bloom into You is probably the most somber romance on this list. I gotta say, I was surprised by how psychological Bloom into You was considering how popular it seemed to be as well as the art design appearing very flowery at first sight (though once I started to watch the show the designs seemed more solemn). This show deals with trying to understand what being in love even is, the reasons people fall in love with others, and if those specific reasons will affect how the person reciprocates their feelings. It’s extremely good, just don’t watch it if you’re in the mood for a light romance.
4) Our Relationship is…
I’ve already written most of my thoughts on this manhwa in a different blog post of mine. It’s a really good romance with strong main and side characters. If you like the friends to lovers trope then this manhwa is the one for you. I could really sense their care for one another. The manhwa was also good at differentiating between what made them like each other as friends and what made them like each other romantically. Their relationship evolved nicely. I’d recommend it, for sure.
3) Doukyuusei
Definitely the healthiest yaoi I’ve seen. Though I haven’t seen many. I’m kind of sucker for romances that put an emphasis on the seasons so Doukyuusei kind of easily became a beloved romance of mine. The direction and water-color design was beautiful. Sadly, I don’t think the movie is purchasable in the west as well as being very hard to stream. Seriously. I’m surprised my computer didn’t get a virus after watching this.
2) Fruits Basket
I’m mad it took me until 2018 to watch this. If you’re into the found family trope (like me) then Fruits Basket is a must watch. The themes of finding a place to belong are done so beautifully and the characters are so likable that when they find that place it just…you really feel that shit. The romance is also really sweet, though not as developed compared to the manga- but hey! Fruits Basket is getting a reboot in April that is supposed to follow the manga a lot better than the original anime adaptation so PLEASE look forward to that.
1) His and Her Circumstances
I really like this one. The two main characters are likable and the comedy is done really well and this show serves a lot of good advice and insight on growing up and relationships and it’s just really good okay. It’s one of the few romances I’ve seen that shows that people make mistakes in relationships that are often unintentional- sometimes those mistakes are even things we think we’re doing right. His and Her Circumstances just really knows how to portray common and realistic relationship problems and blunders in an interesting, endearing way. Watch it if you can find it.

Masterlist of series
Merfolk is one of the things that the people of Teyvat had long forgotten as time passed by. But for those who have lived for quite some time, their beliefs are far different from a normal modern mortal.
Venti was one of those—even if he had never quite fully lived as someone like the once Geo Archon did, he believed in these stories. He had even written songs about them, singing in tunes to the people in the tavern as they all think these were merely myths and metaphors for the people of the present.
They were not.
His light feet drags him to the bottom of Stormbearer Point, the sands beneath his shoes, Under the night sky, the water illuminated the glow of the stars and emitted a shimmer of its own.
There was a crisp in the air that he himself knew was due to the peace and serenity of the place; with no monsters around, no people, no wolves–just him and the sea. Until–
He hears the wind whisper to him first, coming to him like an echo of an intake of breath from beneath the water. Then came the sight of a shadow, one that was rarely seen in the human eye. But to a god like him, it seemed likely to encounter such a glorious sight.
The shadow soon emerged from the water and there came you, and almost as instant, Venti’s face brightened and a huge smile curved on his lips.
“It’s been a while, mademoiselle.” he greets and a giggle erupted out of you, looking up at the boy with the same kind of emotion in your eyes.
“Should I call you monsieur then, monsieur Barbatos?” you bite back and he laughs as he crouches in front of you, your forms separated by land and water–which is an ironic thing, Venti thinks.
“Must you tease me that much, Y/n, you know I’m just kidding. Besides, you know how it doesn’t sound that good when paired with either of my names.”
Under the sky and above the water, there’s a pair that were synced in the beating of their hearts. With the stars as the only witness with both of your love for the other, you two felt free. In the land of Mondstadt, of freedom, it felt like only the two of you remained in the world.
It was you who reached out first, your hand above the water as you offered it to him. Without another second, Venti takes it and holds it gently, just like how the wind does when it passes by a tree.
He makes his way to the water until he floated in front of you. Just then, you let go of his hand to holds each side of his face. And even through the slight pain and irritation on his cheeks, all Venti had to do was look into your eyes and he didn’t feel them anymore. After completing what needs to be done, you held his hand again and dove slowly down the water, pulling him along with you.
“Your power never ceases to amaze me.” he says as he grinned at you beneath the waters, the gills that you had given him more visible under the atmosphere of the sea. It shouldn’t fit a human, let alone a god, but in both of your eyes, neither mattered as long as you two could speed more time together.
Times like these are rare, but you treasure each of them. As a creature of the sea and the land, you two had different worlds, different cultures, different identities. And yet you two found similarities to each other and soon developed emotions that others would often find questionable A god of the wind falling in love with a citizen of the sea? Surely there must be a mistake, right? Your love couldn’t be that tragic, right? That’s what you thought too. However, every time you gaze into Venti’s eyes and see the beauty of him and him alone, then the difference doesn’t matter anymore, and you have a feeling that’s what he thinks too.
You swam through corals and fishes, passed by mosses, and reached the seafloor, giggling to each other as time went on. For Venti, time under the sea is slow. He doesn’t have any care about what was happening above, not when he has the love of his life here beside him.
But unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.
Merfolk can grant humans the power to breathe under the water, but it depletes their energy at the same time, which was why you two had to rise up and revert the spell before anything bad happens,
Venti thought it was just a usual meeting, a usual date, just like any other before. However, what he didn’t know, as you were to give news that would break his heart slowly.
“I have to go back.” you breathed as you still held his face just like awhile ago. And the moment he heard the words, time continued again, bringing him back to the harsh reality in the world of Teyvat.
“But why?” he let out and he didn’t mean for his voice to sound so breathless even if he was able to breathe earlier and now.
You avoided his eyes as you answered, the same joy that he was used to seeing in your face nowhere to be found. However, he knew the answer right away. He knew about this from the start so why was he asking?
“You gave me a home, Barbatos, but knowing that there are those who were being robbed of their own, you know this is all inevitable.” Ah, how you loved to refer to him by his name, insisting that no one else could hear anyway and that you two held too many secrets altogether–secrets that hindered the freedom that this land promotes alongside his own identity.
With an aching chest, he holds up his own hand and hovers it above one of your own that still held his cheek, his warmth transferring to your own as if a silent connection of how different you two were–how different were the places of where you two belong to.
“Do you promise to go back to me?” he holds back his tears, but despite his efforts, they were futile.
When you met his eyes once again, he wanted to take back what he said–stop you from going back to save your own people from the waters of Fontaine and probably suffer the same fate as-
“I promise,” you interrupted his thoughts as if you knew what he was thinking about.
Under the sky and above the water, there’s a pair that were synced in the beating of their hearts. With the stars as the only witness with both of your love for the other, you two felt free. But sometimes, even freedom has its own limits.
