Summary: Kazuha decided to end things with the reader when he became a wanted criminal in Inazuma and plan to flee to Liyue, but before he could leave they asked him to stay for the night.

You can almost hear your heart shatter from the words that slip out from KAZUHA'S lips, your body visibly tremble, your eyes wide open, and your mouth agape from disbelief. Years of shared love and trust along with build up memories plays in your mind like a broken film, and as quickly as the memories came, so does it disappears, pulling yourself back to reality.

"Why?" Is the only words that manage to slip out from your lips, it came out like a whisper in the wind, afraid that if you raise your voice any higher it'll crack.

"I do not wish for you to get drag in to my mess any further-"

"Kazuha, I'm your lover-"

"Were" he retorted but paused at the word he uttered, "you were my lover", he continues with a blank expression on his face.

Even when his face lacks emotions, his eyes speaks millions as it stares right to your own and the only word you could describe what it shows is heartache.

"It's the only way I could keep you safe."

You clench at your kimono whilst trying to stop the tears from falling, you drop your head down and gaze at the floor not wanting Kazuha to see your expression right now.

"When are you leaving?"

"Tomorrow at dawn."

"Then, will you stay for the night?"

Kazuha turn to look away, his bangs casting shadows on to his eyes, pressing his lips into a thin line.

"I can't."

"Please..." You plead, feeling desperate for him to stay.

"You can leave in the morning, so please stay for the night."

"Alright..."

And when you woke in the morning he was gone.

Kaeya would have pursued you there and then, but the situation at hand called for his attention. Mondstadt's deaconess healed and here she was doing quite the opposite. Against slimes of course, but it just wasn't in her nature to be offensive. Maybe Barbara was secretly a fighter inside, but having the resolve to do anything and actually being able to it were two different things. The fact remains that she has no prior offensive conditioning.

If amature gets a hit in, you call it beginner's luck no issues but when that hit actually causes you to stagger back and cough up blood, that's when you wonder.

Getting hit? expected. But getting hurt?

With the docks still crowded, it was apparent that everyone was still processing the spectacle at hand. Barbara, who herself seemed dazed, busied herself by checking Arthur for any injuries and entertaining his gushing. It was Kaeya's emergence that caused the Knights to come back to their senses and address him.

"Sir, we were informed of slimes suddenly appearing on the docks, but as soon we arrived..."

"Disposed of by deaconess Barbara, I am aware. I suppose the knights can learn a thing or two from the Church, no?"

Slimes should not have been so close to the city in the first place.

"Since this has been taken care of, you all are to return to your previous positions and this time make sure that there no slimes approaching the city."

The execution didn't take long. Arthur too left soon after, excited to recall the happenings to his parents. This left the cavalry captain alone with the idol now turned fighter.

This this felt like a dream. She doesn't understand what came over her when she drew out her catalyst. This should not have worked, but it did. Aspirations turned into affirmations, and it felt... good. Barbara wasn't dissatisfied with her position as a healer, healing everyone that was her greatest ambition. But the clouds of doubt and dark whenever she looked upon Jean, who excelled either way.

You changed that. A spotless sky revealed itself underneath the taints of doubt. She will be sure to let you know that when she sees you again.

Clearing of a throat broke her chain of thoughts, the cavalry captain was looking at her curiously. The moment finally catches up, how is she to explain all of this?

"Captain Kaeya I-"

"That was most impressive, you plan on joining the Knights of Favonius anytime soon? Hm sister Barbara?"

Questions will be prompted, one way or another your name would be uttered. That is of course if she chooses to answer truthfully. Teyvat had its fair share of blessed, powerful individuals but nothing quite like you. Was she to let your existence be known to everyone? That wasn't her choice to make not after you just...

"I'm not here to pry answers out of you if that is what you were wondering... Mondstadt could always use more helping hands."

Then what does he-?

"But I do want something, a name if you will."

"A name? Whose exactly?"

Kaeya couldn't help but chuckle at her expressions, just what did you do to make her so concerned for yourself.

"I mean them no harm, just some conversation. They would like more friends here in Mondstadt no?"

Were your abilities a secret anyway? did you even want them to be a secret? Except for being a traveler, you didn't reveal much about yourself, well it's not like she asked in the first place. but then she didn't expect you to be...

What even were you?

"really I just wish to talk, they seem like quite an interesting person."

Nothing escapes the cavalry captain it seems. And indeed he leaves the dock with his objective complete. Syllables on his lips and curiosity in his being.

The brothers are more similar than they would like, different approaches but the same end goals.

If anything you were misfortunate. Lost prayers to the scared winds? Skyward atlas? All you got from asking locals were rumors and maybe you heard someone call you a nerd underneath their breath. Like fuck you Nimrod we'll see who the nerd is when you get her to one-shot the Regisvine.

The pursuit of any good catalyst has been futile so far and there weren't many options in the first place. As a last-ditch effort, you make your way towards Marjorie. Treasures obtained from her father's adventures and her father being Cyrus 'Branch master' of the adventure's guild. If you didn't find any clues here, you might as well give up the venture entirely.

Watching you approach she greets you.

"Welcome. Every treasure here is unique, so we don't negotiate on the price, nor do we give refunds."

No refunds? well, that is reassuring.

"I just wanted to inquire about something... a notebook if you will. it's quite old."

Better to start up slow... baby steps yes

"It was called the Widsith, a notebook that was shared between the members of the Wanderers Troupe... have you heard about it? Like anything at all?"

She stops to think for a while, you halfheartedly expect another dead end.

"hmm....maybe. Not many people come up asking for actual historical trinkets, are you a historian or researcher of sorts?"

"well um...yeah I suppose you could call me a history buff of sorts but do you know anything of it?" please say yes.

"I do come across old books of sorts quite often, the one you just described... I did receive new items from some old ruins. i could check and let you know."

Finally some progress

"But it might take a while"

"o-oh yes, yes of course whenever you get it, just let me know."

You left her shop after giving her your name and deciding on a future meeting. Widsith! you almost had it! well, there was a chance that it might not be the thing itself but you were going to be optimistic. Surely the world won't be this cruel, by letting an entire day of wandering around go to waste. Whatever the end result, you were in high spirits now.

A little further was the Adventure's guild headquarters. you could ask Katheryne as well and maybe continue a winning streak.

You wait as she converses with the other adventurers. Remunerating them for completing their commissions, none of which you could recognize.

Maybe Bennet and Fischel were already done for the day.

Seeing her getting free you immediately approach her.

"...Rebooting..."

"you know you really should stop saying that. It's kinda creepy." you start with absolutely no filter.

Blue meets [color] as she turns to address you, expression unchanging but she does smile when she spots you.

"Ad Astra abyssosque [player name]" (ur genshin name FYI)

You don't do that okay, you do not pull shit like this on someone and make them question everything.

"How the fuck do you know that?"

End of the year, brain juice is low and I'm a bit behind my school work. Oof I've been trying to squeeze in as many classes as I can before the year ends, so yeah the struggle is real. I might have to put that Diluc soulmate isekai work on hold for a while [sorry bird anon :(].

ALBEDO wears a simple white shirt paired with a beige vest which compliments his hair and brings out the icy colour of his eyes, which fill with warmth upon seeing you in your stunning outfit. when you arrive at the venue, he's the date who gets you drinks and makes sure you're comfortable at all times. he takes you dancing, mentioning seriously that he's been looking forward to this and practicing ever since you became his lab partner in chemistry. his gaze meets yours, and suddenly confidence rushes through your veins and leads you to press a gentle kiss against his soft lips. the look of pleasant surprise on his expression makes your later embarrassment entirely worth it.

childe.

CHILDE wasn't even meant to be your date, yet here he is twirling you in the center of the room. as he pulls you into a grand dip, his breath caresses your ear when he murmurs, "they don't know what they're missing." rewind to an hour ago, when you saw your prom date kissing some other girl and almost burst into tears. thankfully, CHILDE, your childhood best friend who's stuck with you all the way into high school was there to comfort you, and he reassured you that your prom night will still be incredibly memorable. for the rest of the night, the two of you shared inside jokes, danced, chatted, and overall had the time of your lives. and if the night ended with you leaving a fleeting kiss on his cheek, maybe it just meant your prom night was a total success, with your formerly unnoticed feelings for CHILDE finally coming to light.

diluc.

DILUC is ready to go all-out for your prom night, he's spent weeks preparing himself to ask you, and when you agreed to be his date he was over the moon. with an endless supply of cash at his disposal, he had nothing to worry about - or so he thought. somehow, he seemed to have taken a leaf out of your junior bennett's book, as every possible thing that could have gone wrong, went wrong. the limousine he rented had a flat tire, wine stained his suit thanks to a clumsy drunk venti, the flowers in the bouquet he brought for you had wilted from the heat... the list went on and on. DILUC was about to give up and declare that the universe simply despised him when you burst into laughter. pulling him closer with his crimson tie that matched his hair, you nuzzle against his cheek, "having fun with you is more important than any of these gifts, silly."

eula.

EULA is dressed stunningly, and even that's the understatement of the century. with the lights flashing and the beat thumping through your blood, you can hardly form the words to invite her to dance after seeing her in an elegant midnight dress which hugs her figure perfectly. however, she seems to have let loose tonight after perhaps one too many drinks, as she smiles and accepts your invitation with only one proclamation of vengeance. but when you intertwine your fingers with her, leading her around the room in a peculiar fusion between a classic waltz and a modern dance, you swear you see pink dusting EULA's cheeks, a fact you're sure is mirrored on yours.

kazuha.

prom night with KAZUHA is barely spent in the large hall the school rented for your grade. after a few minutes wasted dawdling around the drinks table together, he grabs your hand and leads you out into a city with an enigmatic smile. with his hand in yours, you're sure you can conquer anything, and you'd follow him to the ends of the earth, even if it's just for tonight. this ends up with the wildest night you'll possibly ever have, from screaming offkey in karaoke rooms, jumping in puddles with neon lights reflected in their surfaces, reels of photos with silly faces from the two of you, KAZUHA almost getting into a bar fight at 2a.m. to 'defend your honour', lipstick stains on his neck and bruises from harsh kisses on yours. no matter what, at least you know tonight is unforgettable.

kaeya.

KAEYA spends at least a quarter of the time whispering compliments in a sultry tone, his hands roaming down your torso and clasping around your waist in a tight embrace. he can barely wrap his head around how someone as amazing as you agreed to be his prom date, and he'll be damned if he doesn't make the most of it. dressed in matching outfits, the two of you are unquestionably the hottest couple in the room as you sway on the dance floor. KAEYA's eyes never leave yours, though they occasionally dart down to your lips as if he's tempted to be reckless and close the gap between you both. surprisingly, you're the one who grows tired of this little tête-à-tête first, and you smash your lips against his, hands tugging on his cobalt hair. when he pulls apart, he's breathless, but he leans his forehead against yours with an overjoyed smile before stealing your breath once more.

xiao.

XIAO is incredibly awkward in the crowded room, and it's after two minutes of total silence, that he gains the confidence to pull you outside into the corridor. here, the surroundings are peaceful and quiet, not to mention secluded, as no one else deigns to exit the room. the privacy of the room prompts you to start a game of truth or dare, which starts wholesome in a slow dance around the area, but somehow ends up with XIAO shirtless, his white dress shirt discarded to the floor. no longer able to focus on the game, your eyes rove over the green tattoo snaking around his arms, and the tensed muscles of his toned chest. thankfully, the two of you lean forward at the same time, meeting in a wonderfully heated kiss that leaves sparks flying between both of you, your hands gripping onto his shoulders tightly as if you're scared he'll disappear. maybe XIAO fears the same of you, for he keeps one arm securely around your waist and the other tangled in your hair as he tastes your lips once more, and he swears there's nothing sweeter in the world.

yoimiya.

YOIMIYA asked you out to prom in a marvellous display of fireworks which illuminated the night sky outside your home, though nothing could compare to the brightness of her smile as she awaited your reply. after a showcase like that, who could say no? and right now, as you gaze at your date, you think to yourself that she actually looks like a firework herself, as her dress is decorated in blazing pops of vibrant colours - it suits her to a t. when YOIMIYA turns to you with an enthusiastic beam, querying what you'd like to do first, you find yourself mimicking her expression as a smile curves your lips too, "whatever you like, darling."
