oikawa was shocked. no, “shocked” was an understatement. he was dumbfounded. all the tricks, the games - he’d never meant for you to find out, to see through his facade. he’d been doing so well, too. to think that it would all come crashing down because of a slip of a tongue. how reckless. heaven knows how long he’ll ponder over this. “i could’ve done better!”, is all he’ll tell himself. you’ll never let him live this down, either.

he wasn’t jealous, he said. his smile wasn’t forced at all, he said. he’d love to meet your friend—your annoyingly attractive friend, who acted too nice in his opinion, he said. there was no issue. none. however, the longer kazuha tried to downplay what he felt, the more the opposite took place

with a tight-lipped smile, kazuha hummed, “that’s nice.”

you weren’t an idiot. you could tell something was wrong with your boyfriend, but you couldn’t pinpoint what. hence, you continue to keep an attentive eye on him for the next few days. which, was smart of you because now you were beginning to see a pattern arise. hm, he only seemed to act this way whenever you mentioned luke…could he be…?

“do you feel threatened by luke, ‘zuha?” you asked one day, as you two cuddled on the couch while you watched the latest netflix series everyone was gushing about online

he hid his face in your hair to hide the expression he wore and prevent you from moving and looking up at him. he whispered, “…no?”

“really?” you chuckled, rubbing his bicep to ease his nerves, “then why do you always glare at him like he wronged you?”

“you noticed?” his intentions of hiding his distaste for your friend long gone. he knew he’d only make himself look like a fool if he continued this charade
