Birds of a Feather previous / next

Kagami and Felix are each holding one of Marinette's hands, with equally puppy-dogged eyed looks, hopeful.

Marinette, looking suitably flustered, says aloud "Um. So... I'll have to ask my parents... uh... about heading out... to these events... so I'd better go..." In the background, Marinette's thoughts are saying "what kind of situation IS this" while looking panicked.

Kagami swoops up beside Marinette, stating serenely "Then let's go," clearly intent on joining her for her walk home.

Marinette, frazzled, tries to tell Felix "Uhm! Text me the address of the stage you're going to? Or the, uh, hall? What is something like that called officially-" the speech bubble cuts off mid ramble with Felix peering down at her fondly, clearly happy that she's considering them in her plans.

Felix affectionately ruffles Marinette's hair.

Confidently, Felix states aloud "I'll see you tomorrow, my partner," while Marinette stands stock still, looking dazed by their reaction.

Kagami materializes out of the darkness to repeat "Partner?" disdainfully. Marinette, who's in the process of straightening her hair back out, mumbles "We're working on a project together is all."

Kagami and Marinette walk towards the sunlit exit, talking comfortably.
Kagami: What did you do to your hand again?
Marinette, dolefully: I sprained my wrist while boxing...
Kagami: I told you a hundred times you have a weak grip.
Marinette: In my DEFENSE, having a loose wrist is good for drawing!

The girls have exited, leaving Felix. Peering over to his left suspiciously, the spread of a coiled and hissing cobra fills the background, indicating their dangerous behavior coming to the surface the moment the object of their affection leaves.

Felix firmly asks from out of frame "What are you still doing here, and who are you texting, Rose."
Rose nearby, with phone in hand, flusters and stammers "O-Oh, I'm, I'm about to, uh..."

Felix's face is partially shadowed, with a coiled viper behind her head forming a vicious mimicry of a halo. "You're texting Lila," they state, clearly unhappy.
Rose replies, in a panic, "Well I-! I don't want to let her down!"
Felix responds "So its okay to let Marinette down? Even when she asked you to refrain yourself?"

Felix looms over a suitably distressed looking Rose, as they ask aloud "You know what, Rose?"

Their face is shadowed completely as they speak, with only their hair and mouth distinguishable from a serpent-esque pattern making up their form. "I wish Marinette had never saved you from that Akuma," they state, "I wish she treated you the way you treat her."

The frame is split in half. On the left, Rose looks increasingly tense and frightened, on the right, Felix's mouth is only seen, grinning viciously as they state aloud "And next time, I'll make sure she doesn't come to anyone's aid, especially ungrateful little girls like you."

Rose's phone goes off, the ringtone blasting "I KISSED A GIRL AND I LIKED IT, THE TASTE OF HER CHERRY CHAPSTICK" filling the frame behind her startled form. She's wide-eyed clutching her phone.

Felix is pointing at Rose, the mood broken as they ask "Isn't that a little too on the nose?" as Rose shouts into her phone, embarrassed, "HI YES HELLO WHAT CAN I HELP YOU WITH?"

The frame is split in two, with Lila on the left and Rose on the right.
Lila: Hey Rose!
Rose: O-oh, Lila! Did you find a good club?
Lila: Nothing on my end, but Alya's really fired up. Please tell me you found something good.
At Rose's hesitation, Lila continues: Well, have you?
Rose: ...not really good, I don't think this would be a good fit for you...
Lila: Oh? I'll be the judge of that!

Rose's eyes are seen twice. First, nervously, she replies "Well..."
and in the second frame, she continues "It's just-" and the lighting turns red as her pupils tighten in anxiety, Lila's tone sharpening as she tasks "Just what, Rose?"

Rose has a flashback of coming face to face with White Knight, the moment Marinette hit him with a table. His form looms over her, grand and terrifying, with his armor glinting in the light, her form completely overshadowed in the foreground.

Rose recalls the split second she saw Marinette attacking him, and how she could see the whites over her eyes as she lunged forward with the table firmly in her grip, equally terrified but still attempting to save Rose.

Rose makes up an excuse as she anxiously holds her stomach. "It looks like all the classes and clubs here are getting ready for competitions and finals. If you joined now, you'd be way behind, and I think everyone would just get frustrated... Maybe you can attend some of the uh, plays or, whatever performances they're doing to see if you're actually interested? Instead of joining last minute and lagging behind..."

Rose smiles merrily into her phone as Lila replies "Oh, that's a good idea, Rose! Maybe then I'll have an excuse to not be dragged all around Paris by Alya again..."
Rose replies "I'm sure you'll find a good club soon, Lila! I gotta go now, I'll text you later!"

Felix appears from the background, looming eerily over Rose as they state "So me standing right here must've influenced your choice there huh."
Rose admits "Well I won't say that wasn't a factor..." as she's visibly sweating at their close proximity.

Bashfully, Rose holds her phone in front of her face as she continues "and... um. Just because I don't understand WHY a bunch of stuff is happening doesn't mean that it isn't happening, and Marinette... might have a good reason for not being friends with anyone anymore."
Felix, out of frame, asks "...you think she doesn't have any friends?"

Turning around gracefully, with a smug smile and gesturing with their left hand, Felix announces "Doesn't she have plans with Kagami and I all weekend?"

Rose, surprised, notes "I thought you and Kagami were like, love rivals or something?" as Felix visibly flusters.

Felix runs away in a shape reminiscent of the ass-out meme "everyone is so mean to me" as they yell aloud "I GOTTA GO TO CLASS NOW" and Rose gleefully replies "I knew it!"

As though sensing a disturbance in the force, Kagami looks over her shoulder and notes aloud "...huh, I suddenly feel like fighting for some reason." Almost out of frame, in response, Marinette asks practically "ya want ice cream? Think that'll help?" and resolutely Kagami replies "...yes."
