Sirius crumpled onto his trunk, Regulus’ arms guiding his fall. The pavement was cold beneath his feet.

Sirius blinked.

Regulus stepped away, pausing only to check he hadn’t fallen before retreating back across the street. Sirius watched him climb the front steps.

James yelled his name from somewhere round the corner but Sirius kept looking at his brother, their eyes locking one final time before the door closed.
