Actually, in an interview, he said that JJ Abrams thought he was too thin and asked him to pack on the 20 lbs! He didn’t look chubby at all even with the extra weight! Just beautiful!
remember when chris pine, in image obsessed hollywood, chose to put on twenty pounds of mostly chub without being told to just because he knew it was true to jim kirk’s image and self as a captain, not a young bad boy rookie anymore, and true to his canonical relationship with food? your fav could never
OMG, this is so funny!
Looking back, yes it looked tacky. But the message is as pertinent today as it was in the 60s. Loved the original and love the Kelvin timeline.
Star Trek: Alternate Original Series (2009 - )
“Star Trek [The Original Series] always felt like a silly, campy thing. I remember appreciating it, but feeling like I didn’t get it.” - JJ Abrams
No!
pirk?
Clinton has gone through hell and back. She's an advocate for women, equal pay, immigration, health care. She's weathered everything. She's eminently qualified. Really love what Bernie says, but Republicans would brand him a Communist...and also he's Jewish. Americans are not ready for him! PS: I'm Jewish and understand the mindset of the majority of Americans. It will be hard enough to elect a woman. And most importantly, we seem to have forgotten that the USA is a country of immigrants. And each wave has been demonized and put down. We forget very quickly.
Dear everyone who says “Oh it doesn’t matter who I vote for, Trump will never win”… it does matter. It absolutely does matter.
Britain gave in to the racist and xenophobic rhetoric. And the consequences to the EU - and to the world at large - will be catastrophic.
I don’t care if you hate Hillary. I don’t care if you think Hillary killed your cat and stole your yogurt. I don’t care. You have to vote for her. You HAVE to vote for her. You cannot allow a megalomaniac racist piece of shit like Donald Trump become the President of the United States of America.
Do not give in to fear and hatred. Do not allow xenophobia and bigotry to run this nation. Do not. Do not. Do not.
I never thought I’d see the day where a nation like Great Britain allowed hatred and fear to rule. Don’t let that happen here.
Nothing mediocre about Chris Pine!
Noooooooooo!
why do i stan a trio of eggs
Just hate autocorrect. It's not. That should be Hell, not hello. And A lister, not Allister. Duh!
I just really love Chris Pine.
So totally agree. They were born to play these roles
Can we just appreciate these guys, how perfect they are for these roles and how they have beautifully grown into the characters. Perfect people being all perfect!
I started watching Star Trek in September, 1966. So you might say that I’m an old fan who has found all the new Trek a joy. It’s very important that Star Trek grows but still be true to itself, as it is. There will always be those nay-sayers. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. That being said, I found that first episode of SNW very moving, chilling, and also a warning to us.
#TOS #SNW #Star Trek must evolve
First episode of Strange New Worlds almost made me cry. I can see now why so maybe boomer fans and dudebros scared of progressive views hate this series. People who hate progress and call any kind of honesty "woke pandering."
The idea of World War 3 is terrifying. But with the way the world is now it's a high possibility. Pike's words are true. Horrifying and real. But he's right. We need to overcome these things to ever be able to become more than we are. The things humanity could do if we pushed past our own hate and war? I genuinely believe we could reach amazing beautiful things far beyond our imaginations.
This show is extremely political. In order to reach Star Trek we need to be. We have to self reflect and work against our own broken views. Imagining a world where we could be beyond that is beautiful. But it comes at a cost. Being faced with our own downfalls is hard. It's scary. We'll destroy ourselves if we don't. Some people refuse to see that and aren't ready to.
This is why this show resonates so much with younger fans. It almost brought me to tears. It's everything Star Trek should be. His words are all that it embodies. Now we're in an age when those kind of words can finally be spoken and make all of us look up and think,
"We can do it."
