Little blurb fanfic I’ve had the animation to in my head each time I hear a soft song :[

The night air was cool.. not cold, but breezy. It was a wonderful night for the summer dance. The warm, almost sweltering day was spent putting up decorations, hanging lights and streamers across the pavilion, moving the tables and chairs from in front of the moo mart, and of course- picking the music.

Hyped up songs for the most part, Sabrina carpenter, Chapel roan, Will wood-

And some slower songs for the couples..

Yes.. truly a wonderful night for a dance.

Except for- one thing.

Just a little thing that Professor Ludwig Von Drake noticed. (And seemed to be the only one who did so.)

Toodles was no where to be found.

He helped put up so many decorations, helping out with the preparations and- he didn’t come to the dance. It was concerning.

Von Drake knew he and Quoodles were still together.. maybe she didn’t want to come? She wasn’t very used to large crowds…

No- he still would’ve come- to hang out with his friends.

A slow song came on, everyone who wanted to, or could- partnered up, waltzing and swaying to the melodic rhythm.

Ludwig needed to clear his head, the question bouncing around like a rubber ball… Where *was* his son?

Then Goofy tapped him on the shoulder, mentioning something about seeing a girl who wasn’t from the clubhouse or surrounding area walk into the forest to the left.

The professor went to check it out.

As he walked through the woods, he started to hear music-

Soft music… much like the song that was playing at the pavilion.

And laughing.

And bells

Upon breaking through a clearing, but staying crouched behind some bushes, he found who he was looking for.

Toodles, gleefully spinning around a much taller- much older girl. Her skin a dulled brownish grey, her hair jet black with a red streak through it- pulled back with a golden ribbon, shorts and a loose fitting tank top- a thin tail, tapered into an arrow shape at the end.

His bells ringing happily as the two spun around and around to the rhythmic the song- playing from not a speaker, but another robot.

He was more boxy, and had a speaker for a chest. His screen had a bright animated expression, and a was a deep blue. He wore headphones, and was chuckling softly to himself, legs crossed over one another as he leaned against a tree.

The girl spun, reaching out and grabbing Toodles by the sides- and Von Drake watched as his son went limp in her hands- as she dipped and twirled him through the air.

Now he knew why Toodles hadn’t shown up.

He was having his own summer dance.

With people who mattered a little more to him.

The professor left the trio in the woods, to dance their hearts out… or- circuits.

Returning and acting as if nothing had happened.

He’d maybe bring up the idea to the robot helper at a point in the future. But for now- he let him be-

Free…

And happy.

Showing off some very messy sketch drafts of Quoodles along with my first ever attempts at drawing Boodles. My mind has been plaguing with ideas for the latter ever since I started my rough drafts for Toodles lol. Don't mind me I'll just be rambling about my "process" and ideas for these along with my other Oodles designs under the cut lol.

In terms of everything I have to say about my personal takes on the Oodles' anatomy, I don't exactly have much to say at the moment. My overall idea is that I kind of want them to have a more uniform appearance (and by that, I mean it's really just Mickey's body shape, as a reference to how nearly everything in Clubhouse is based on Mickey lol), with certain aspects of distinction between each Oodles comes from things like clothing, color palette, personality, etc. Another thing I want to add is I plan on moving forward with a "clown" or "clown-like" theme with my designs. This idea came from when I was first brainstorming my design for Toodles and wanted to incorporate that specific element into his design. Then, I thought, "Well, why not do that for the others? They're just as silly!! :oD," and the rest was history. I plan on elaborating more on this whenever I feel confident in what I have planned out, but as of right now, I think this is a good enough summary of it all lol.

Now, starting off with Quoodles, I've mentioned this before in a different post, but one of the core principles I had in mind with her was the idea of some sort of "Space Clown Doll Girlie Thing." The space part coming from the idea of her possibly counting as Toodles' Martian equivalent, considering we're first introduced to her in Space Adventure. In terms of references, I've looked at different things such as Minnie's various outfits throughout Clubhouse, Lalaloopsy dolls, Moon Dreamers, etc. As of now, I think I'm finally starting to figure out what exactly I want to do with her, giving her more poofy/fluffy skirt and having her dress decorated with little stars instead of polka dots, having her mimic Minnie in a way while still keeping the space theme (Also, they glow in the dark :oD). These current doodles for mostly for the sake of figuring out her color palette and how to apply it to my design. Overall, I really like the direction I'm taking with Quoodles and am hoping that Clubhouse+ doesn't abandon her as a whole. (Clubhouse+ proceeds to introduce an entirely new character named Martian Toodles or something like that. 💀)

Now, for Boodles, I somehow managed to have and also not have much to say. My mind has been filled to the brim with ideas for her for a while now, and only NOW am I barely putting them on paper. I haven't really gotten the chance to broaden my horizons in terms of inspiration yet, so the words "Goth Clown" have been ringing in my mind for a while. As of right now, I'm looking into more pierrot-ish vibe while leaning a bit more on the theatrics side. Oh, and another thing!! Since her face screen kind of stylizes her to have "hair" in a way, why not just...let her have hair? (It definitely isn't a wig SHHH!!!) She's still a massive WIP compared to how far I've come with the other two, but it's still a huge step forward compared to the current remaining Oodles. (There are like 2 or 3 left for me to design and with the possibility of Clubhouse+ introducing even more is... 🥲)
