Vi began to remove her clothes to change for Caitlyn’s lessons that would start soon. “You already apologized, princess. Not sure what you think has changed between last night and this morning,” she replied, pulling on a plain brown linen shirt and her most comfortable pair of leggings. “I’m not saying it just to say it, Vi. I truly didn’t mean what I said, I promise you.” Anger flared up in her, and she rounded on Caitlyn, startling her into taking a step back. “You Pilties and your promises. Do you have any idea how many of them your people have made to mine, only to break them? All you know how to do is talk. Like that will solve any of our problems,” she scoffed. “If you think that your words last night were the most horrible thing I’ve ever experienced at the hands of a Piltovan, you’re as arrogant as every other Topsider. So, why don’t we just chalk last night up to yet another win for the Pilties against a trencher and move the fuck on?”

She raised her hand and pushed Caitlyn’s hair behind her ear, then cupped her cheek. Caitlyn sighed and gripped her fingers, pulling Vi closer as she kissed her palm so tenderly it made the back of Vi’s eyes burn. “I could never have done this without you, Cupcake,” Vi whispered. Caitlyn shook her head. “You are so strong, Violet,” she replied and brought a hand up to Vi’s chest, laying it over her heart. “And you love so fiercely. You are the daughter of revolutionaries. You never would have taken everything my people did lying down. At one point, sooner or later, you would have acted. You love your people too much.” “No. No more of this my people and your people,” Vi said, and the intensity of her tone made blue eyes widen in surprise. “Our people. You and I have bled and lied and killed and sacrificed for this moment. Soon, this will be over, and we can begin building a future that all our people deserve. We can be the ones who show them what they are capable of when we work together. We will show them, Cait. We will show them all.”

I started rereading today and saw the aside of Cassandra being jealous of the chemtech battle bots. I’m curious, do you have any plans of that get her, powder, and Jayce in the same room together? I foresee the ultimate chembot if so.

I don’t have any plans for it but I’m not ruling it out completely. If I don’t do it in this one, there’s a chance I will in the sequel. It would be pretty epic if they built a bot together though. They’d destroy everyone 🤣 so glad you’re rereading it 🥹

I swear on Janna I'm not abandoning Low Lays the Devil in Me, but I have to write a CaitVi one shot inspired by this. I'm already 3000 words into it and it really only will a one shot. Think of it as like a little balm to the angst in Low Lays the Devil 😂😂

“Did you send me on this assignment because I’m from Zaun?” Vi asked, slowly and carefully. Councilor Kiramman seemed a little surprised by the question as blue eyes widened ever so slightly, but then steeled themselves as she answered once she collected herself a split second later with a simple, “yes.” Vi stared at the woman incredulously for a few tense seconds. Then she stood up and ran her fingers through her hair, forcing herself to calm down. “Violet, what’s the matter?” the councilor asked and her gods damned worried tone only managed to anger Vi further. Vi met the councilor’s blue eyes and scoffed at her audacity to be confused. “A moment of honesty?” Vi asked, her fury barely held at bay. The councilor didn’t assure Vi that she could always be honest again. The realization in the woman’s eyes told Vi that the councilor had now caught on to what Vi was really asking. Do you truly want to hear what I have to say? “A moment of honesty,” Kiramman repeated confidently.

Vi is asked to do a strange and potentially dangerous assignment for Councilor Kiramman. Caitlyn has some eye opening experiences. Vi's errand leads to a surprising conversation with the councilor.

When you make really long sequel to a really long fic, sometimes you make a small continuity error 😬 I fixed a tiny thing at the end Ch. 16 of "Low Lays the Devil in Me." I forgot Caitlyn had never actually been to the Sumps, she went to the level above it. Oops.

I made a bluesky profile for my writing if anyone is interested in a follow, but I'm not sure if I'll keep it. Given that this is a side blog, I feel like I'd actually be able to be more interactive on something like bluesky and I absolutely refuse to make a twitter account.
