Do y'all ever read a fic so good that it makes you want to elevate your own craft and also befriend the writer? It's almost like, "Hi! You write so well that you've inspired me to embark on a creative training arc. Also, can I yell about the character in your dms because you get it?"

Caitlyn rolled her eyes. “Gods, you can be quite dramatic sometimes.” Outrage filtered through the tether, but then gave way to shock when Caitlyn reached out and laid her hand over Vi’s, which she could just make out in the dark. “What the hell are you doing, Kiramman?” Vi asked. Caitlyn felt Irelia sigh contentedly, and the pulling stopped. “Compromising with the tether,” she answered. “I don’t know about you, but I’m exhausted after today and would like to sleep instead of fighting it. I’m not saying we should let it do what it did last night, but maybe this will tide it over.” Vi hummed uncertainly, but Caitlyn felt her relax against the mattress again. “Fine. But the little parasite better not try anything.” Caitlyn tutted in disapproval at the nickname. “You’re incorrigible.”

Caitlyn was far too well-versed in how to get in and out of her window to have never done it before they went to Zaun. Vander narrowed his eyes at the Councilor. "What is that supposed to mean?" he asked with a low growl. Cassandra seemed unmoved by his flash of anger. "Caitlyn never would have behaved so abhorrently before she met Vi. I'm not sure I like the influence she is having on my daughter," Cassandra stated matter-of-factly. Righteous indignation flared through Vi as she heard the couch creak as Vander gripped the frame of it until his knuckles were white.

“Does this have something to do with why you wanted Caitlyn to escort me to this?” Vi asked with a raised eyebrow. Cassandra smiled and gave Vi a look that told her she was right. “Let’s see if, by the end of the night, you can guess why, specifically, I wanted that spotlight on you and Caitlyn, and by extension, myself.” Vi thought back, again, to Caitlyn wondering why her mom was playing chess with her and changing the rules. Vi felt like this was one of those moments, but she just couldn’t figure out why Cassandra was playing it with her, as well. “Ah, here comes Councilor Bolbok,” Cassandra said, plastering on a bright smile. Game time, Vi thought to herself. She took a sip of her drink and braced herself for the onslaught.

Vi attends the Kiramman Gala as Caitlyn's date, officially being introduced to Piltover high society. If that weren't nerve wracking enough, Cassandra has another strange task for Vi to complete during the party.

Opening up a little bit wouldn’t hurt, she thought. “Fine, I am angry,” she stated, allowing some of her fury to break through. Mohan just stared at her, taking a drag from his cigarette. After several moments, he nodded. “Okay, then. Let’s guard your family’s shit,” he said, stamping his cigarette out.
