Marlit was an enthusiastic and outgoing little girl in a small Rito town in the low mountain. She loved to sing and dance and make flower crowns with the other girls, often spending time in the meadows by herself, learning about all kinds of flowers. She gradually spent more and more time alone in the meadows, learning that flowers were not so simple, so helpless. She learned that flowers had thorns and thistles…and other defenses.
She became fascinated by the more poisonous species of plants, the nightshade and the poppy, the wolfsbane and the featherrot.
Soon she was obsessed.
She learned to extract the essences of the flowers, to concoct her own poisons. But when he experimentation caused several other children to fall ill, and one to die, she was chased out of town.
She felt lost and confused, terrified to be on her own. Guilt ate at her, but soon resentment and bitterness took over and she became cold, more obsessed with flowers and poisons than ever.
She ran across some Yiga foot soldiers, and after some initial misunderstandings she decides to join them. After a couple years she raises through the ranks and becomes the potion master for the clan.

Being part of a new clan, a new family, healed some of the heart soreness Marlit had from being abandoned by her people, but she was still a little withdrawn and quiet. She spent most of her time learning to grow flowers in the desert and concocting poisons for the assassins and foot soldiers.
She began working closely with Sango, growing whatever the Zora needed for her alchemical endeavors and potions. She felt a kindredness with the Zora, also being alone among the more human members of the clan, but she had no desire to force a more intimate closeness with the withdrawn girl than a business partnership.
She occasionally flies reconnaissance for the clan, but spends most of the time with her plants.
