on my worst mental health days, when I need to keep up but can’t stand the dread of scrolling, I look to Let’sTalkPalestine’s Instagram channel for news updates. Today I read something that really fucked with me. It said that even if there was a ceasefire called tomorrow, and aid allowed in and etc. that it would take Gaza until 2092 for its economy to return to 2022 levels. 70 years of potential progress, stolen from them in 4 months. And you just know that even when that happens (because Palestine WILL recover and WILL be rebuilt after Israel’s settler colony fails) the world will see that they’re still years behind the West for reasons completely out of their control and power and use it as justification to be even more racist and demeaning. And y’know how I know that? Because they already do it to the rest of the Middle East.

Have you heard that the IDF used to be a terrorist group that was recognized by the US and the UN? And apparently the same terrorist group that carried out the Nakba? Basically meaning THE terrorists?...Because BOY, it sure would have helped learning that little detail earlier!

Oh yeah, the Irgun? Haganah? Lehi? All of these literal terrorist gangs made up what we know today as the IDF. Before that, they carried out terrorist attacks against the British as well as commit massacres against Palestinians such as the Deir Yassin massacre in 1948.

All of their terrorist acts are well documented and can verrrry easily be found if you look them up. For instance, the Lehi's focus was literally assassinations of British officials and the Irgun was in fact regularly described as a terrorist organisation in US media outlets, and they were all also described as "terrorist organisations" in official British and UN documents that detail their terrorist activities.

To add, the leaders of these terrorist groups later became Israel's prime ministers (David Ben-Gurion, Menahem Begin and Yitzhak Shamir).

If you're interested in learning more about this, The Institute for Palestine Studies has recently published The Roots of Zionist Terrorism, a paper that includes more info and a rundown of these gangs' most infamous terrorist acts committed against Palestinians starting the years leading up to the Nakba.

it was for hagar

I never understood why God would tell Abraham to sacrifice Isaac. It always seemed cruel - but isn’t God supposed to be a loving father and a just ruler? How could telling a righteous man to kill his own child be fair?

And then you go back and read the story. Abraham, a righteous follower of God, had failed. He and Sarah couldn’t tolerate the presence of their slave Hagar since Isaac had been born. They hated her child Ishmael. (Abraham’s child too, remember. Just as much as Isaac was.) Abraham gave Hagar a death sentence - he sent her out into the desert with her son and left her to die there. To die of thirst, of heat, of exhaustion, of hunger, of fear.

Yet God saw Hagar. A slave, a foreigner, a mother to an illegitimate child, an imposter - those were human words for her. God looked down and said My Daughter, My Beloved, You Brave and Selfless Mother - I see you. He overturned the sentence Abraham had set and not only provided water to save the lives of Hagar and Ishmael but whispered the same promise in Hagar’s ear that He had whispered in Abraham’s. Maybe He took her to a hill and showed her the stars too. Maybe He sent a soft breeze across the desert to stir the sand and say to Hagar - your children will outnumber these. The God of living water has seen you.

And then God turned to Abraham and said your turn. Take your son, your beloved son, Abraham, the promise for your future, and take the life from his lungs. You had no remorse to do the same thing to Ishmael - Ishmael, your son. And Abraham felt the sun burning his face and his body faint from thirst and walking through the wilderness, and he felt the pain in his heart at the fear of losing his child. For a moment, he sees through Hagar’s eyes, squinting from the sun and sting of sand. And this time Abraham listens. This time he obeys God - and obedience comes in the form of the sun glinting off a knife, of Isaac’s terrified sobs. God does not need to say this act is justice. No words could make Abraham understand deeper than the terror and grief in his chest.

Mercy comes for Abraham as it came for Hagar first.

Ishmael and Isaac are both spared, both protected, both children of the same promise.

The sacrifice was never just a test. It was not some story to confuse or contradict the character of God.

It was justice for Hagar, justice from the God who sees.

are you terrified of the fact that western medicine is dependent on an extractive industrial complex that's collapsing at increasing speed?

Me too buddy :/

...at a complete loss for where you'd even start without access to a pharmacy? I CAN help with that!

Are You Terrified Of The Fact That Western Medicine Is Dependent On An Extractive Industrial Complex

An Anarchist Free Herbal is a zine that's intended to help people start thinking about autonomous medicine in concrete, practical terms. It won't answer your dire questions--because we all start as beginners! What it will do is get you set up with some skills to start turning those big, scary, hard to think about questions into a set of smaller, researchable, solvable questions. Itll give an idea of some of what's out there in terms of medical approaches that aren't reliant on industrial production, and an array of basic skills (from research to making medicines) that you can build on as you continue learning.

You can read it here as an ebook/pdf for free, or not free if you want to be very nice to ur local cripple herbalist. Got money? Lucky you! You can get a physical copy in the mail at-cost AND donate one to someone else in one fell swoop right here for $12 (or more!). Don't got money? Me neither! You can request one o them donated physical copies by emailing mildewamyx(at)protonmail(dot)com and telling me where to send it.

Good luck!

While we are on the subject - financial abuse is not always just physically taking money away or not having a savings account or escape stash. For a lot of people it is the other spouse sabotaging your credit score, constantly overspending, and you being unable to trust that joint household bills and loans are paid. Did you know that once you add an authorized user to your bank account it’s nearly impossible to remove them without their permission? Did you know that your spouse, who likely knows your birthday and SSN, can often gain access and reset passwords for any online accounts and create new ones?

Financial abuse will ruin your life and there’s really nothing except significant time that fixes it. If you are in a situation where you think this might happen to you you should freeze your credit with all three major agencies. You can find info on how to do this at USA.gov/credit-freeze

This is not something that only happens to tradwives. You are not exempt because you are independent or competent.
