THAT SURE WAS A FUCKING RIDE HUH
If TOHO made a trailer for Pacific Rim.
Rewatched A Piece Of The Action with my siblings and they were very amused at the amount of spirk there was
First there’s Spock trying to Spare Kirk’s feelings over how bad of a driver he is (feelings are illogical unless they’re my husbands feelings)
Then we have a series of completely logical and emotionless reactions from Spock
‘Why is this man touching my husband?’
‘WHY is my husband touching this man? Right in front of me’
Then his look to McCoy after ‘ah, no need for concern, he’s getting me a suit too’
Spock realizing he was kinda into it when Kirk started ordering him around
Then Kirk’s reaction to Spock copying him is also adorable of course
This one’s a bonus since it isn’t really spirk, I just love how Kirk’s master plan was distracting them for a minute and then flipping the table. Spock reacts immediately, naturally, and then it’s all topped off by McCoy executing a beautiful neck chop
All around perfect episode, loved it from start to finish

sesame street (pbs) in general is such an important part of television.
my mom was very low income growing up, like barely could afford to put food on the table, her single mom worked three jobs, and they didn’t have a television. but her friend did and every time my grandmother dropped my mom off at her friends for babysitting, they watched sesame street. it taught my mom the alphabet, how to communicate with others, the importance of friendship, how to be accepting of everyone (gay, black, asian, etc).
and my mom made it her mission to allow sesame street to be there when both me and my siblings grew up. my mom was thankfully able to get a college degree and become a nurse. and the one thing she always told me that helped was the pbs.
pbs (sesame street) has been there for lower income families when government and politicians haven’t. and the fact that politicians want to ban this important part of tv is very telling
Remember When… Batman Went Sci-Fi?
Star Trek needs to capitalize on the fact that it has such a cool and expansive universe. They need to make more shows/movies/stories centered around the more niche corners of the galaxy. I want truckstop romance stories between a Vulcan freighter captain and a human waiter whose claustrophobia won’t let them get on a space ship. I want an epic political thriller of an orphan gorn egg raised by a ferengi family, I want to learn how a Klingon family started a barbecue joint on Kronos and became universe famous for their lava butter (there actually is something like this in the Star Trek travel guide but it’s such a short snippet and I want to know more), I want to see the drama of a Klingon opera, i want to see the stories that are always just out of focus.
There are just so many cool ideas. And not to say I don’t love the challenge of the weekly crew style but we saw how interesting the stories can get if you expand past just starfleet (especially in ds9)

Nicholas Britell will score a show that makes you witness the absolute horrors of fascism then immediately drop a party banger of a song while you watch
