From Les Bords de Mer. illustrated by Carl Brenders in 1981.
“You’ve got DOOMS,” Daud whispers to Thomas, just to take his mind off their impending death. Thomas glances at him. He presses his lips together. Then he nods. “I can sense them.” “Can you see?” He shakes his head. “I just feel the cold. They echo.” Daud keeps moving. His body hums with adrenaline, but ironically he feels a bit better. With Thomas able to sense the BTs, their chances of survival have just gone up by a generous estimate. They’ve almost made it to the more level ground when the odradek chitters, low and urgent. Before either of them can react, it starts spinning.
Aka the Dishonored/Death Stranding crossover no one asked for. If you haven't played Death Stranding, here's a good exposition video about the world.
Title is from Anne Boyer's poem What Resembles The Grave But Isn't.
