Gwen is in her lane. Focused, thriving, flourishing.
They walk over to Stan, who remains invested in the boxing match. “Uh, Grunkle Stan,” he starts, clearing his throat, “do you think you can take us to Greasy’s Diner.”
His focus remains on the television. “Quit asking things from me, kid—can’t you see the tv’s on?”
“Stan, this is important. There’s a ghost in the diner and I need to go capture it.”
“Wha—ghost in the…?” He turns to look at them. Dipper’s face warms as he gestures awkwardly to Pacifica. And realization finally hits his uncle. “Oh, ghost in the diner. Is that what you kids are calling it these days?” Pacifica blushes slightly as he stands. “Sure, I guess I can take ya. Lemme just get my keys.”
“What happened to, ‘Don’t ask me for anything while the match is on?’” asks Mabel in protest.
“There’s a ghost in the diner, Mabel. Pay attention,” mumbles Stan, gesturing toward Dipper and Pacifica as they stand awkwardly together.
Mabel smiles as Stan disappears to get his car keys. “Oh. Ghost in the diner. Got it.”
Dipper massages his temple in frustration, feeling his face heat up even more. “This isn’t some euphemism, guys. There really is a ghost in the diner.”
“Yeah, it’s, like, possessing people and stuff,” adds Pacifica.
“Stop tryin’ to convince me, champ,” Stan says, returning with keys jingling in hand. “I already said I’d take ya.”
