I just realized that during the food fight in season 1, just after Keith flings the food goo at Allura and Coran protects her, throwing food goo at everyone, Pidge just stares at Keith in almost amazement:

She is clearly looking at Keith here. 

This guy just threw food at a princess for her sake. Getting annoyed at Allura starting it and yelling out “GO LOOSE, PIDGE!” to show that he’s got her back.

It doesn’t matter if you intepret this as platonic or romantic or whatever, but that look is one of shock and amazement and I love it. This is probably where the whole “they secretly adore each other” started - at least for Pidge.

It really is too bad that we haven’t gotten much more interactions through the past seasons, I would love to see more of these two bonding with each other.

Being Bakugou’s Crush

Acts annoyed when you do or say sweet things.

Isn’t actually annoyed, he just can’t handle the sweetness.

It makes him blush super hard, so he always turns his head away.

Super jealous, doesn’t like you talking to Deku.

Always drags you away.

Is new to being affectionate so he gets frustrated with you easily.

Overprotective of you.

Isn’t that great at expressing his emotions,so he wants to show you he cares by protecting you.

Ready to fight anyone who hurts you even if it was an accident.

Doesn’t tolerate anyone looking down on you.

Still very competitive when you guys play games together.

Telling Bakugou you love him for the first time(blurb):

After a few months of hanging out with Bakugou, you decide that you have fallen in love with him. You decide you want to tell him, but the idea makes you nervous. You aren’t sure how he will react or if he feels the same about you. Worst of all, you don’t want to ruin things by bringing such heavy emotions into it and scaring him away.

One day, while playing video games after school you finally beat him. You begin to taunt him as you run away from him.He catches you, you trip and you land on top of him. You make eye contact for what seems like an eternity.

Then it slips, “ I love you Bakugou…”   

His eyes immediately widen as his cheeks turns red. He is stunned and silence passes between you two. Anxious and scared you quickly get off of him, grab you bag and head towards the door, “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to!” you yell as you open the bedroom door.

Last thing you hear is him calling after you, “Y-Y/N!”

But it’s too late, you run out of his house and keep running until you reach home. When you do arrive home, you immediately go to your room ignoring your parents. You close all the lights and jump into bed. You begin to scream into your pillow with tears in your eyes.

“Why did I do that?!” 

“ I’m so fucking stupid!”

Bakugou’s POV

His eyes look up at you, speechless. He had never heard those words before. Unsure of how to comprehend those words his lips refused to move. But before he could say anything, you were running out the door. 

 “Y-Y/N!!”  “Y-Y/N!!!”  “Y-Y/N!!!!”

He quickly got up and chased after you. But, by the time he reached the street you were already gone. He buried his head in his hands.

 “SHIT!!!!!!” he screamed kicking over the trash can and stomping on it enraged.

 Clenching his fists tightly he began pacing furiously.

 “FUCK!…Why didn’t I say anything??”

“UGH! WHAT THE FUCK!!?”

Hearing all the noise, Bakugou’s mother appeared, “What the hell!? What did you do with the trash can, little punk!!” she began yelling. 

“Bakugou, you better clean this up and buy me a new trash can you ungrateful punk!’

 “ Shut up old woman! I don’t want to hear it!” he yelled storming past her and making his way back to his room slamming the door

The next day, you stay home from school. You didn’t want to have to deal with the possibility of seeing him and being embarrassed. Plus, your eyes were swollen from crying from embarrassment last night. Your parents were worried about you,but you manage to convince them you just weren’t feeling well. Time had passed, and you spent the majority of the day in bed watching cartoons. If you could, you would have much rather stayed home a second day instead of having to face seeing Bakugou tomorrow.

Lucky for you, your parents were at work and you had the house to yourself so you didn’t have to pretend to be sick. You picked up your phone checking your messages. You had a lot of messages from your classmates wondering about why you didn’t show up to school today. It made you feel a little bit better to know you had friends that cared about your well-being. Some of them had mentioned stopping by to check in on you. Some time had passed and you had grown hungry so you decide to put on some clothes and head downstairs to find something to eat. As you put your sweater on, you hear your doorbell ring.

You head downstairs to open the door, only to be shocked to see Bakugou standing there. His back was to the door and he was still in uniform, meaning he came here straight from class. Before you can try anything he turns around, “ You weren’t at school today, and the girl’s said you weren’t feeling good…” he explained rubbing the back of his neck.

You look at him embarrassed, “Yeah, but I’m okay now so see you at school tomorrow!” You quickly blurt out as you try to shut the door. But, Bakugou’s hand stops you.

“DAMN IT! Y/N WE NEED TO TALK!” he stated raising his voice, which immediately alarmed you. 

He was clearly frustrated. “You are so infuriating you know that?” he added. “You are annoying and you talk way too much. You hardly ever listen!” he continued. You were surprised by his words and was unsure what to say. “You always butt into business that isn’t yours, because you are too kind and want to fix everyone’s problems.” he added. “You are always looking out for others, but when was the last time you did something for yourself?” he continue his rant. “You are really clumsy, and you have no sense of direction.” he continued to rant. Fighting back tears, you interrupt him, “Are you done?” you ask getting ready to slam the door.

Bakugou stopped releasing a deep sigh, “ You know what annoys me the most, the fact that you run away.” he replied. “You didn’t even give me the chance to reply.”

“Well, If that’s all you wanted to say we are done-” you began but he stopped you.

“FOR FUCK’S SAKE! Y/N I LOVE YOU TOO!” he shouted angrily. “Despite the fact that you annoy me to no end, I love you. I love being around you. I love playing games with you. I love when you tease me. I love when you try to calm me down. I love you, Y/N.” he admitted. “Yesterday, I hesitated, because I had never heard those words before, nor did I think you would feel that way for someone like me…” he explained dropping his head to avoid eye contact with you.

You couldn’t help but crying now. You couldn’t believe what was he had just said. He looked up at the tears on your face. “Fuck, I didn’t mean to make you cry-” he said growing frustrated with himself. But, before he could finish his sentence you threw yourself into his arms. Unsure of what to do, Bakugou looked down at you stunned. No words came out, and you stood their in silence, but he wrapped his arms around you resting his head on yours.

Dating Bakugou:

Falls asleep when you play with his hair

Likes to be the big spoon when you sleep, refuses to let you go.

Always pretends to fall asleep first, so that you fall asleep. But then wakes up to appreciate your face.

Knows he lacks romantically will secretly read magazines and read Shoujo mangas to learn more.

Being affectionate maybe hard at first but he really tries.

First time he called you babe he turned red, but now he loves to call you it all the time, especially in from of others.

Relationship insecurities:

That you are too good for him

That he’ll accidentally hurt you.

That he doesn’t do a good job of showing you he loves you.

Hello and welcome to my kidge Ted talk. We’ve wrapped up season 8 and I’m sure everyone who wants to see it has seen it by now.

I figured I’d make a little post dipping into pidge and Keith’s relationship through the entirety of the show.

To my fellow kidge fans, we hear a lot of “kidge? They hardly interact.” Which is… not true. But even if they didn’t, why hate on creativity? I’m here to compile the moments that really set the kidge shippers into motion.

I’m on mobile, so unfortunately I won’t have too many pictures, but I’ll try my best. (I also have no idea how to insert a read more on mobile so I’ll apologize in advance)

The obvious

Keith and pidge are often depicted next to one another.

Since the beginning of the show, the animators make it a point to depict them near one another. This is an obvious, as for half of the show they’re the “arms of voltron”. It makes sense, in the same way lance and hunk are depicted next to one another. However, after Keith is no longer piloting the red lion, these two are still always kept in a close proximity. Without getting too “shipper goggles” I’d like to point out that this displays a closeness between the two.

Now that we’re past the basic, surface level observation, I want to get a bit more into their character arcs.

Parallels

Keith and pidge have one thing in common as kids: bullying. Pidge is picked on by kids in her class for being a nerd. Keith is taunted for being “emo” and the loss of his parents.

But they both have something else in common

They both have a similar “comfort person”. Pidge finds this in Matt (her brother). While Keith finds this in Shiro (someone he has regarded as being like a brother). These people inspire them and make them want to excel and do better, despite the bullies or feeling lonely.

Another big parallel is that these people who mean so much to them go missing and propels them both forward to start their arcs.

They become obsessed with finding them

While Keith finds shiro in the first episode, his journey is not done there. While pidge is looking for her father and brother, Keith is trying to discover where he comes from and how he’s related to the galra.

He ends up finding his mother around the same time pidge is reunited with her father. These arcs resolving around the same time is very harmonious and gives them both a sense of peace that makes them stronger characters.

Now that all that’s out of the way, let’s look into the big interacts they’ve had.

S1

We get the Paladins learning to work together, which gives us this excellent “go loose, pidge!” Scene. They work well together from the get go. They are the arms of voltron, after all.

But there’s a dissonance when pidge tries to leave the team. Keith is furious. And I think this is more than a “The team won’t function” right sort of thing, but an abandonment issue. Keith has lost people. Being the arms of voltron, they are a team. If pidge leaves, Keith is alone in that regard and I think it’s evident in how happy he is that she decides to stay.

S4

In the beginning of season 4, keith leaves voltron. They all go to hug him and pidge expresses how much they’re going to miss him. This is another display of closeness. As pidge is on the verge of tears at the idea of him leaving and he gives her a very soft smile that we rarely see from him. (I don’t have a picture of this my bad).

S6

Keith returns to voltron. When he is down pidge helps him up. Not much to say about this but I liked this moment.

S7

This is the big daddy of kidge moments for the show.

We gonna start with the obvious when they get captured. Lance is the first to move, being immediately taken down by Ezor. This is also huge for plance shippers, but I won’t get into that right now. Keith yells for them to let her go. He’s angry and panicked, but they have some sort of blaster pointed at him, showing that they deem him as a threat. He can’t do anything. This will connect to a point I’ll be making for season 8.

We get this cute little moment when pidge asks “what’s that?” And Keith tried to gently explain the drills to her, with a soft smile. This is behavior Keith doesn’t usually display. Zethrid was completely right when she says the team has a soft spot for pidge. Keith is no exception.

There is the scene when they’re fighting the Druid. From Keith’s vision we see him look from Kolivan to pidge. These are people he wants to protect and keep safe.

While they’re floating in space, throwing insults at each other, no one has anything to say about pidge. Because they don’t have negative feelings towards her.

In this same episode, we get the famous scene of pidge grabbing Keith while he’s hallucinating. I’ve talked about this in another post, but I’ll reiterate it here as well. Pidge is on the tail end of the chain when Keith starts swinging. She jumps up from the very end and goes to grab Keith, breaking the hold hunk has on him. This immediately snaps Keith out of it. The animators made it a point to have the person farthest away from him be the one to pull him back. Animating isn’t easy so this is something they had to have gone out of their way to do.

It’s another display of closeness. Much like in the scene with the Druid when he looks to pidge, this is someone he cares about.

S8

Pidge and Keith didn’t get a huge focus this season (which I’m fine with. Gotta let the others shine). But there were two significant scenes that the kidge shippers lost their marbles over.

Not only do we see them sitting together through most of the season, but we get this cute lunch scene during episode 7. Judging by how most of the people kinkade and razavi interviewed were intruded on, I’d say this is probably no different.

There is a moment where Keith is looking at pidge, even afters she’s finished talking. He only stops when Razavi calls out to him. Through his portion of the interview, he visibly becomes more annoyed. At the end he’s asks “is this interview over now?” (Or something along those lines) indicated that he felt intruded upon.

Keith and pidge had seemingly planned to enjoy lunch with one another but were intruded upon, this accounting for Keith’s long look and continuos annoyance.

Then we have the hand grabbing scene. Keith could have reached for anyone; lance, hunk, allura. But as usual, pidge was closest to him. His focus in this moment doesn’t seem to be entirely on the team, but mostly in pidge. They’re clinging to each other and he’s trying with all of his strength to pull her back up.

When the Paladins finally disappear, Keith falls to his knees and begins banging on the ground in distress. Much like the scene with Zethrid and Ezor, Keith gets very panicked and upset when he can’t help those he cares about. He feels helpless.

But an important thing to note is that pidge is holding onto Keith as much as he’s holding onto her. This a mutual bond between the two. It comes back to the scene in space when she grabs him. They’re a figurative lifeline for one another. Both literally and figuratively trying to pull each other out of dispair.

Whether romantically or plantonically, I think it’s important to regard how close these two actually are. As Bex said and the writers and animators have indicated, they “secretly adore each other”.

A/N: how we liking the header? Your local writer who cannot draw for shit decided that she’ll spend time drawing instead of working on things she should actually do uwu I’m such a diehard harvest moon stan and I’ve debated for so long if I want to do this but since its the one year anniversary of this blog, I feel like there is no better time than now ouo this is a passion project for me and I hope that you’ll have as much fun reading it as I do planning the whole thing out!

The neon lights were bright in the big city but with a pace so fast that you couldn’t keep up, it was easy to get lost and slowly questioning if that really was the life you wanted.

When you found yourself barely able to breath amidst the mundane routine that you were stuck in, the letter that came in from your grandparents seemed to be the answer to your calls for change. With them wanting to retire, they had asked you to take over the ranch for them and though hesitated to make such an important decision in your life, you said yes and moved to Yuuei Town with a heart filled with excitement and nerve.

Working on the ranch is a lot of hard work but you were sure that you would manage with the help from other lovely town folks.
