I am finding myself with a tough decision, I am writing a story inspired by a fascinating idea from @jedineedlove
In summary: it’s a crossover between Black Myth: Wukong and Lego Monkie Kid. However, the Sun Wukong in LMK is actually The Destined One from the game, but is posing as Sun Wukong due to a feeling of obligation from all the mistakes the king has made, and more.
Anyway, what I’m struggling with is the physical differences between the two monkeys. I’m someone who has been reading the books long before the game came out(because of LMK), watched LMK, and has played Black Myth: Wukong. There are a few differences between the three. I’ve decided to go with a mash from all three, but I’m stuck on fur color for The Destined One.
I hadn’t meant to have the poll last a week, my bad!
I know I want Sun Wukong’s to be the same as it is in LMK, but I also want The Destined One’s to be different. Sure, he’ll hide it with glamours later anyway, but still. I am thinking either a less saturated amber orange(closer to LMK) or silver in a sense(closer to the game). I love both honestly and I’m struggling. So if anyone wants to put in their opinion on whichever they like, or even a new idea, that would be wonderful!
In regards to the story I’m writing inspired by the idea from @jedineedlove
This will be where I post for when I finish chapters. I will start posting the chapters on Ao3 once I’ve completed 5 main chapters I am confident in.
Summary: a crossover between Black Myth: Wukong & Lego Monkie Kid. However, the Sun Wukong in LMK is actually The Destined One from the game posing as Sun Wukong. He hides his true personality as to meet the expectations of others and be able to atone for the mistakes the Monkey King made in the past and still linger today. Though, that doesn’t mean he’s able to keep the mask up all the time.
I have completed the prologue! Yes, I write prologues before the first chapter, so technically 6 chapters! I typically get faster as I write because the idea forms more clearly in my head how things will go specifically. Even though I already made an outline.
Here’s a snippet of what the chapter holds
“Idiot! Move!” Bajie yells, and he’s already jumping away. The stone suddenly bursts with an explosion of light, he had to shield his eyes from it as it was like the sun was suddenly before them. Once the light faded, all that’s left are pieces of the stone all around the clearing they stood on, each piece a size ranging from a ripe peach to Uncle Bajie. Speaking of Bajie, he’s by the monkey’s side in a blink and is looking over him, he seems to be searching for something specific. Bajie sighs in relief soon after, and he can only assume what it could be.

The prologue is the only chapter set in the time of Black Myth: Wukong, so the only time we see Zhu Bajie. Every chapter after is set within the time of LMK.
So I just finished chapter 1, that was fast.

Thingy I drew for Chapter 33 of When the Mask Falls.
I really need to look into drawing on something that isn’t my phone.
