I wanted to try some casual scenes in Garak's shop. It is his shop in spirit and vibes, if not in canon appearance. I imagine Julian went to bother him after work with his vain federation reading of some book and after a nice bit of arguing and discarding of that horrid uniform, they went out for a nice dinner. I love the random replacements for clichés writers insert in science fiction shows. like when a 21st-century human would say "stop pacing you'll wear a hole in the floor" but in a space show the alien/future human says "you're oscillating like a Betelgeusian night badger" or some shit. like fuck yeah he is. amazing drive-by worldbuilding. I'm gonna spend the next half hour wondering why the Betelgeusian night badger evolved to do that

"teens are prone to tantrums and are emotionally unstable" - okay, yeah, puberty is real, and emotional regulation is a difficult skill to learn. but also. any adult person would be pissed if their opinions were disregarded, they had no say in what happens to them, their emotions and feelings were downplayed and their privacy were intruded on.

My favorite thing about Damar is that he’s just a dude. Garak and Dukat are constantly scheming, speaking in euphemisms all the time, never fully honest with anyone around them or even truly with themselves, and Damar is just like, there. Like he proves this isn’t a Cardassian thing, they’re just Like That.

Dukat, talking about killing someone: I’ll make the necessary arrangements to ensure they’re properly taken care of.

Garak, talking about killing someone: You can rest assured I will do all that is in my power to make sure their stay is as pleasant as possible. But,, once they’re back in their own ship, it’s simply out of my hands.
