It is still a balance of trying to let go and not be rigid despite knowing this. I am not expecting to reach perfection, but just getting through every day, a day at a time, and knowing that bending is okay.
in all seriousness it’s very alienating knowing theres Something Wrong With You. like seeing your mental illness come through in your behaviour and thought processes and knowing it’s irrational and unhealthy, knowing other people are reading you as weird or stupid, and not being able to do anything about it is such a lonely experience
please dont use spoon theory terms unless you have physical disabilities / chronic pain/illness. the woman who came up with it used it as a metaphor for what it’s like to live with lupus, and as far as I know it’s not applicable to people who do not have physical disabilities or chronic pain/illness. if you do then carry on but otherwise please don’t.

Not to sound like a 90s shallow prep, but how you dress can affect your self esteem, and putting energy into wearing things you actively like and projecting an ideal of yourself through fashion instead of seeing clothes as things you have to put on out of obligation helps.
It also can give you a sense of control over your appearance that you otherwise wouldn’t have lmao
I literally cannot overstate how important creative hobbies are when dealing with mental illness. If you can’t draw, there are coloring books. If you can’t write a novel, you can write in short journaling bursts. If you can’t sing in the shower, you can listen to music. Sometimes with mental illness it feels like we have this dark presence inside of us that is bumping around in our brain and organs, causing problems. It helps immensely to let it out.
Finally got around to making an ADHD, Bipolar and Autism Diagram to show the overlapping symptoms.
(Both low self-esteem and inflated self-esteem are listed for Bipolar - this is because it is made up of a depressive and manic stage. When they’re in the depressed state, they have low self-esteem, but have high self-esteem in the manic stage.)

Some disability flags based off of the stripes from the original (@capricorn-0mnikorn) flag! These are intended for each specific/sub community. All colors and such have the same meanings, just narrowed down for each category; The grey stripes were added to represent the grey area of being recognized as disabled, in general society, in a medical sense, or otherwise.
Red - Bodily/Physical Disability

White - Invisible and/or undiagnosed Disability
Blue - Mental/Emotional Disability
Green - Sensory Disability
