I think very deliberately calling a trans man a "stupid bitch"/"dumb cunt"/"hysterical"/"whiney" (especially when that person never uses such language for cis men) is coded misgendering. Transmascs, I think you should get angrier about it.
I've noticed that when people don't know I'm intersex and think I'm just a regular cis guy, they will almost never use such language for me, even if they hate my guts. That changes the second they learn I'm intersex + have some "female" sex traits (uterus, & breasts notably), or if they believe I'm a trans man.
It is 100% targeted. You aren't overreacting.
i’m a guy but like. Approximately
shrinkflation means theyre 8.5 inch nails now
things that happened to me when i was a woman in STEM:
an advisor humiliated me in front of an entire lab group because of a call I made in his place when he wouldn't reply to my e-mails for months
he later delegated part of my master's thesis work to a 19-year old male undergrad without my approval
a male scientist at a NASA conference looked me up and down and asked when i was graduating and if i was open to a job at his company. right before inquiring what my ethnicity was because i "looked exotic"
a random male member of the public began talking over me and my female advisor, an oceanographer with a pHD and decades of experience, saying he knew more about oceanography than us
things that have happened to me since becoming a man in STEM:
being asked consistently for advice on projects despite being completely new to a position
male colleagues approaching me to drop candid information regarding our partners / higher ups that I was not privy to before
lenience toward my work in a way I haven't experienced before. incredible understanding when I need to take time off to care for my family.
conference rooms go silent when I start talking. no side chatter. I get a baseline level of attention and focus from people that's very unfamiliar and genuinely difficult for me to wrap my head around.
like. yes some PI's will still be assholes regardless of the gender of their subordinates but, I've lived this transition. misogyny in STEM is killing women's careers, and trans men can and do experience male privilege.
I was listening to the connoreatspants elon musk fortnite interview bc i wanted to laugh at elon musk but man I can't believe I didn't realize how brazenly nazistic he was even before he straight sieg heiled. Like I knew that he was a nazi for a long time but going back and hearing him talk about social pathogens and the west falling while playing fortnite really got me. Got me even more annoyed with how he and every other neo-nazi has been permitted to deflect criticism by saying they're "not antisemitic" or "I support israel so I can't be a nazi."
I fuckin hate how the broad understanding of what a nazi is stops at antisemitism as if the only thing that made them bad was that they killed jews. Thats bc that was the ONE line they crossed too far. Everything else they believed ideologically: social pathogens, eugenics, cultural purity, and authoritarianism were all common ideas of the historical context the third reich was in. it wasn't until they went too far that they were recognized as bad (in the US at least, at least that's what got the manufacture of consent spinning) and even then the ideology of nazism has been erased in favor of JUST the antisemitism bc they didn't disagree with the rest of it. The ideology of fascism and nazism has been picked apart and talked about to death in universities which is why you have Jorkin Depeanus Vance calling professors the enemy.
They're wanting to change the definition of water to see which water would qualify under the Clean Water Act...I wish I was making this up.
What this means, in layman's terms, is that not all water or wetlands would be under environmental protections, so some could legally be dumped in, scraped out of, or otherwise harmed.
The comment period for this is pretty short (just a few days left!) so please submit comments asking for ALL water to be protected.
