Modern-day Changeling Tales

A black and white comic featuring Stan and Ford Pines. They sit together on the Stan O' War II, their backs to the viewer. Ford says, "You know, there were several reasons I was furious you took my name while I was in the portal. At first it was that you did it at all--" a silhouette of Stan as Mr. Mystery talking to a crowd is shown, "--but then I was furious that it worked. To the outside world, Stanford Pines changed his voice, his personality, his job, his hands, and you got away with it." Three shots are shown of Stanford writing in his journal, looking up at Bill Cipher, and standing in front of the start button of the portal. Then a silhouette of Ford reaching out to shake a man's hand, the man rebuffing him. "I spent so long hoping to make my mark on the world, hoping to make sure I was remembered beyond my physical oddity, that I never considered that I wouldn't be remembered at all." A grave for Stan Pines is shown alongside two other graves with flowers left in front of them. Stan Pines' grave has no flowers. "That I could be good as dead, and there would be no one left to care." A silhouetted Ford stands in the window of Mystery Shack back when it was his cabin, gazing with one visible eye out to the distance, barbed wire fences looping around the cabin. "That it would be my own fault I was forgotten."

<- prev they both deserved better and the flip side- stan faked his death and there was no one who cared he attended his own funeral and the only people who showed up was a tax man and his mother The fact he proclaimed he’d make it on his own and earn big money but all his successes (primarily the mystery shack) came AFTER he had assumed the ‘more successful twins’ identity and suddenly he’s left to wonder what success is his own? what does he even have when he becomes Stanley pines again? not a house you paid the mortgage off on yourself not the business you built up from the ground not the reputation and connections you made among your neighbours not the family who are all under the impression you died 30yrs ago god. the tragedy of it all
