Part 4 of kind touch as requested by @divia237, I hope you enjoy it!
First three parts on my masterlist.
If you’re looking for some deep character development or plot twists, this isn’t the place for you, but if you’re looking for some completely, (maybe slightly over the top) self indulgent fluff that will make you feel all warm and fuzzy, then you’ve come to the right place, because I was smiling like an idiot the entire time I was writing this.
The hero and villain got settled into bed fairly quickly, aside from the fact the villain was practically refusing to make eye contact with the hero after they had asked to sleep in the other’s bed again.
The only thing the hero was struggling with was not teasing the villain about how absolutely adorable they were. They were so sheepish and embarrassed, all because of such a simple, innocent thing! Whenever the hero would try and meet their eyes, they would blush slightly and look away, fidgeting with their hands. The hero had to bite their lip, though, because they didn’t want to dissuade the villain from asking again in the future.
Once the hero had climbed into bed, though, all they had to do was open their arms, and the villain quietly crawled in to cuddle up next to them, resting their head on the hero’s chest—no arguing or stubborn remarks. Within minutes, the villain was sound asleep at their side. The hero, however, was content merely laying there. They watched the villain snuggle in closer to them subconsciously in their sleep, even loosely holding onto the hero’s shirt with a hand that was resting on the other’s chest next to the villain’s head.
There was something so special about this, these select few moments in time where the villain was truly at peace. The hero knew they didn’t trust easily and certainly didn’t give themselves over any easier.
It was strange, seeing a villain like this. If you didn’t know them, they’d seem like any other normal person. They looked so harmless like this, wrapped in the hero’s arms. There was also this added specialness now that the villain had asked for this, instead of just being persuaded. The hero knew the villain was far from innocent, but right now, they looked the part.
Suddenly the villain tensed in their arms, curling in on themselves.
“Shhhh,” the hero soothed, running their fingers through the villain’s hair. What did villains have nightmares about anyway? As curious as the hero was, they weren’t going to push the other to talk about it. It made their heart ache though, knowing the villain had suffered from these nightmares almost every night since staying with the hero, and probably long before.
Playing with the villain’s hair worked the few times the hero had seen the nightmares happening, but it didn’t seem to be doing the trick for whatever they were dreaming about this time.
“Shhh, it’s okay, you’re okay,” the hero whispered when the villain flinched in their hold again.
Despite the hero’s efforts, the villain tensed again before suddenly jolting awake, gasping for breath as they rocketed upright, hand flying to their chest.
The hero sat up behind them, giving the villain a moment to reorient themselves before speaking, “Are you alright?” they asked softly. Despite their tone, the villain flinched at the noise, having not realized the hero was awake at all.
“Hey, you’re okay,” they tried.
“I’m fine,” The villain snapped in a sharp yet slightly breathless tone, twisting away from the hero further and curling in on themselves.
“Okay,” the hero replied softly, in a way meant to hopefully remind the villain they weren’t trying to fight.
They seemed to get the message, because the defensiveness in the villain’s shoulders deflated, though they kept their back to the hero.
“Excuse me for waking you up,” the villain said after a moment of silence.
“You didn’t; I wasn’t asleep yet,” the hero replied.
The villain turned to them in shock, scanning their face as if looking for a sign the hero was lying just to make them feel better. When they didn’t find one, however, a light blush dusted their cheeks, and they turned their head away again awkwardly at the realization the hero must have been watching them.
The hero saw the villain clench their fists where they rested in their lap.
“Are you sure you’re-”
“I should go sleep in my bed,” the villain interrupted, moving to get up, “so you can finally get some sleep and all,"
"No, wait! Please don’t!’ the hero replied in shock, a hand flying out to land the villain’s shoulder. The villain froze.
"I like having you in here,” the hero admitted, which caused the villain to look at them in shock, eyes wide.
“re-really?"
"Yeah, I do,” the hero replied earnestly, “and even if I didn’t, you asked to sleep in here earlier,” they reminded, causing the villain to blush and look down, “Talk to me, what’s wrong?"
The villain was shocked at just how pleading the hero sounded.
"I just- I shouldn’t get used to this,” the villain replied quietly, wringing their hands nervously, “I’ll probably be better in a week, two max,"
"Yeah, hopefully…” the hero replied in confusion. Wasn’t getting better a good thing? “What’s wrong with that?"
"No, that’s not- it’s just, I’m only staying here while I’m recovering or whatever, so,” The villain responded.
Suddenly, it clicked in the hero’s head.
“Ohhhhhhhh,” the hero replied, failing to keep their amusement out of their tone. The villain’s head snapped to look at them, and they were met with the hero’s fond yet teasing smirk.
Before the villain could reply, the hero lurched forward, wrapping their arms around the villain so they could fall back down onto the bed with them, carefully avoiding the villain’s wounds while they did. The villain was too shocked to fight back, only replying with a surprised squeak noise.
“You don’t have to leave once you’re better if you don’t want to,” The hero stated before the villain had a chance to say something first. The hero’s voice was so fond sounding; it made the villain’s heart pound in their chest.
“What?” the villain replied after the moment it took for their brain to catch up.
“You don’t have to go once you’re all healed up,” the hero replied, twirling a strand of the villain’s hair gently.
“I- well- I can’t just stay-"
"Of course you can silly, what did you think I was going to kick you out the second all your injuries were healed?” The hero asked in amusement.
“Well, no- but-"
"I was actually kinda hoping you’d stay if I’m honest,” the hero admitted in a quieter, softer tone.
Suddenly the villain pushed themselves up, just enough to see the hero’s face, “Really?"
"Mhm,"
"Why?” the villain asked, narrowing their eyes, “Why would you want me to stay?"
The hero gave them a lopsided smile, "What? You think villains are the only ones who enjoy having someone to cuddle with?” they joked, causing the villain to blush, “You’re quite nice to have around,” the hero went on to explain in a more serious tone, “I like talking with you, you always have something interesting to add, you’re so passionate about your interests, at least when you’re not trying to keep up that big bad persona of yours,” they teased before continuing, “Seriously, it’s going to feel so lonely without you around,"
The villain stared at them, completely dumbstruck as they struggled to process what they’d just heard.
"I-,” they shook their head, trying to get their thoughts straight, “really?” they asked in disbelief.
The hero laughed warmly, giving the villain a smile, “Yes, really,"
The villain just continued to stare.
"Come on,” the hero said, opening their arms as an invitation, “It’s late, we can talk about it more in the morning, but you don’t need to worry about it, okay?"
The villain bit their lip in contemplation before nodding and settling back down, readjusting themselves so they could rest their head on the hero’s chest again.
After a couple of minutes of silence, the villain finally spoke.
"Thank you…” they said quietly, so quietly the hero almost didn’t hear it.
Thank you. That was the first time the hero had ever heard the villain say it. The villain had never thanked them for anything, not that the hero required a thank you, but it was clearly something the villain didn’t just say on a whim.
The only response the villain got, and the last thing they remembered before the world went black again, was the feeling of a gentle kiss on the top of their head while a hand continued playing with their hair.
Next Part
Coach Brunt: We should appreciate the small things in life.
Coach Brunt: *picks up Bellum*
Coach Brunt: You are appreciated.
Bellum: Put me down or I will kill you
Hero smirked. "Truth or dare?"
"Truth" villain mumbled, stepping back.
"Do you have a crush on me?" Hero instantly asked.
"Fuck I changed my mind, I pick dare. "
"I dare you to tell me whether or not you like me–"

Here’s some more compliment based dialogue to use in your writing:
“I love that color on you”
“You make me feel at home”
“I’ve never seen eyes the same color as yours”
“You look so cute when you laugh”
“Has anyone ever told you you have really nice hands?”
“I’m not going if you’re not going, it wouldn’t be fun without you”
“How is your skin always so soft?”
“Whoa I didn’t know you could sing”
“You have a great sense of humor”
“I thought you said you can’t dance?”
“I appreciate you”
“Your breath smells really good”
“I’m so lucky to have you”
“You always have great ideas”
“I trust your opinion”
“I would never doubt you”
“You’re so clever”
“I’m rooting for you”
“You always know exactly what to say”
“I feel like I’ve known you forever”
"I know you miss me," they spoke carefully, each word a double-edged sword. "But you can't keep calling me whenever you feel sad, okay? It's time for both of us to move on."
The hero nodded numbly, hand clenched tightly around the phone. "Yeah, I know. But please wait. Don't hang up. I... I messed up."
Villain was especially slow today. They had been off for the entirety of the week, but today it was like fighting a different person.
"Say," Hero asked in between punches. "Is something wrong?"
"Huh? Since when do you care?" Villain scoffed and landed a punch on Hero's jaw. They barely felt it.
Hero retaliated by punching Villain's gut, which caused them to grunt and double over in pain. Hero swore they hadn't hit them that hard.
They slowly approached their enemy, trying to look as nonthreatening as possible. Villain hated the pity in their eyes.
"Stay away from me." They growled and attacked Hero once more. This time, Hero didn't fight back.
Instead, they wrapped their arms around their nemesis, preventing them from moving. Even that small amount of pressure earned them a pained hiss.
"I didn't hurt you that bad." Hero stated. "Who did this to you?"
"That's none of your business-"
"Tell me." They demanded.
Villain sighed. "Supervillain."
"Your boss? I thought you guys were a team?" Hero questioned.
"A team?" Villain chuckled. "We're villains, Hero. As soon as I stop being useful, the alliance is over. Considering how many times I've lost to you this week, I'm lucky to be alive."
Hero felt their stomach twist. This was partially their fault. They knew they had just been doing their job, but they still felt responsible.
"You're coming with me." It wasn't a question.
"No way." Villain struggled against Hero's arms. "I don't need your pity nor your help."
"As a hero, it's my job to take care of those in need." Hero declared as they scooped them up into a bridal carry. "That includes you, whether you like it or not."
"I don't like it." Villain sulked.
"I know."
So while I really loved s4 of Carmen Sandiego, and I enjoyed the finale, it felt more like a season finale than a series one. While the last episode was great, I felt the last ten minutes felt very rushed. So here’s some things I would’ve done different if there was a season 5
Highlights include: tons more of Player interacting with everyone (more Player and Carmen friendship, Player being in danger from VILE), Gray officially joining Team Red, Zach and Ivy joining ACME having more build up, etc.
Season 4
Carmen and Player’s first in-person meeting is shown in FULL like cmon
Have Carmen’s brainwashing last much shorter, only about a month at most (you cannot expect me to believe Team Red would let it go on for seven months)
Carmen never joins VILE’s faculty, but we do see her being quite cruel on cases, and Gray’s growing concern and guilt
Team Red teams up with ACME, desperate to get Carmen back and willing to do anything
Like in the show: VILE lies to Carmen about Shadowsan and she goes after him. Gray realises how wrong all of this is and turns himself over to ACME to try and save Carmen
There’s a big Team Red/ACME vs VILE/Carmen fight. Gray tries to get the headset on (we’re keeping the “please come back” line because it broke my heart) but she realises he betrayed her and shocks him. It’s a big fight between Shadowsan and Carmen, he gets the headset on her and her memories start to come back, but she destroys it before it can work completely. Shadowsan is down, and Carmen’s about to take him out when…
Player shows up!
He’s been beside himself since she went missing. When he finds out about the plan to save her, he says he’s coming with them. The rest of the team thinks it’s a bad idea, that it’s too dangerous, but he says it’s worth any risk to save Carmen. “She’s my best friend! My first real friend! I’d do anything for her, please!’
Player’s always been Carmen’s secret weapon, even back on VILE island. He was her first real friend too. Even if they erased all those years of Carmen Sandiego, even if they took away her heart, Player’s always gonna be in there.
Player tries to talk her down, tries to remind her of their time working together, tries to get her to leave Shadowsan alone - ‘Come on, Red. You gotta remember, please! Remember me, remember who you really are!’ She’s confused, conflicting memories tearing her apart. But she still refuses to listen and maybe pushes him away (he is still a kid, even without empathy, I doubt she’d just attack him). Carmen goes to take out Shadowsan with the crackle rod and Player puts himself between her and Shadowsan.
Carmen demands that he move out of the way. She’s starting to cry, starting to break. Player refuses. ‘I told you, Red. I’m not going anywhere.’
And it all comes back to her at once. She remember everything, her life, her friends, what happened when VILE kidnapped her. She’s overwhelmed - relieved, heartbroken, confused. Player just hugs her, so happy to have his best friend back.
As they start to pick themselves up after the battle, Carmen’s heartbroken at everything she’s done. She tries to apologise, but all her friends refuse to hear it, just glad to have her back.
When Gray wakes up in the hospital, Carmen’s already there waiting for him, to make sure he’s okay and to apologise. But he just apologises for not doing something sooner. They call it even. The Chief shows up to tell Gray ACME’s not after him. Carmen offers him a spot on her team, but he says he’ll have to think about it.
Team Red officially teams up with ACME, of course partnered with Jules and Devineaux. Jules is continuing to look into the mystery of Carlotta Valdez, and everyone’s ready to work together to take down VILE.
The very end of the season is VILE faculty talking with the Troll. He’s got the security footage from when they lost brainwashed!Carmen. The know everybody in the footage except for one. The piece they were missing from the puzzle. They zoom in on Player.
Season 5
With Team Red and ACME working together, they finally start to take down VILE. They still don’t know their new Headquarters, but they start to take out VILE strongholds, like Doctor Bellum’s lab.
Zach and Ivy start working closely with ACME, realising their skills and what the might want to do in the future.
Carmen’s pretty shaken by what happened to her. She’s terrified of being captured again, haunted by what she was forced to do, but refuses to let on that anything’s wrong. Eventually it all builds up and she ruins a mission. She and Shadowsan talk things out, have a wonderful father/daughter scene and Carmen slowly starts to heal as she realises she doesn’t have to take on the world herself.
Even without the need for revenge, there’s some tension between Carmen, Shadowsan and the Chief. They slowly start to trust each other and gain more respect.
We get some great team ups: Jules and Carmen get to work together! Also the chaos that Devineaux, Zach and Ivy would wreak as a team, or Devineaux and Shadowsan trying to work together - think of the potential! Also we get a callback to the first episode - Devineaux yelling ‘where in the world is Carmen Sandiego’ during a caper, but it’s waiting for her to come and help him
Gray of course joins the team, changed by Carmen, her faith in him and the remorse after what happened with Carmen’s brainwashing. Parts of the team don’t trust him right away, but he proves himself.
We get some backstory on Player! Apparently he became a hacker to try and find his father after he left, but is now happy with his mum and stepfather (this was in a tie-in novel?). But we see this! We get to see Player’s family! How much they love him, why they’re so overprotective. He’s still happy and comfortable in his room but his experience with school and finally meeting Team Red makes him want to push outside of his comfort zone. He tries to make some real life friends (joins a pride group, or a coding club or something). And if I’m writing this, what the hell, he also gets a boyfriend.
But of course, VILE has their sights set on Player. Now that The Troll has a target he’s been trying to track the kid, and finds him through security cameras. Player’s having dinner with his family one night when a knock comes at the door. It’s Coach Brunt. She bursts in, Player recognises her and tries to go for his room to call Carmen but Tigeress cuts him off. He’s in big trouble.
They take Player and his family hostage and Player’s parents finally find out what he’s been up to.
‘Wait, you were helping take down an international crime organisation!?’ ‘Yes mom, I told you that!’ ‘I thought you were playing a video game!!!’
VILE uses Player and his family as bait to try and finally take out Team Red. Of course they fail, everyone is literally ready to Kill to save Player. Carmen is more furious than we’ve ever seen her. Player gets to do something cool like knock out Tigeress with a computer screen or something. ACME takes Coach Brunt and Tigeress into custody (continuing the fall of VILE).
Player’s parents get to see that their son is friends with bunch of secret agents and ex-criminals. They also see the big sister/little brother relationship between Carmen and Player. He talks about her all the time and they’re really happy to finally meet her, and she becomes an honorary member of the family. They’re still worried about Player’s involvement, but they see how much it means to him (and with ACME assuring their safety) agree that he can continue.
Jules finally finds Carmen’s mother. She brings her the information and Carmen admits that she’s afraid to go and find her. We find out a bit about Jules, how she’s not that close with her own biological family, and how much this new team has meant to her. How family is who you choose. Carmen is comforted by this. She decides to set aside her mother until she finishes up her business with VILE.
They’re building up to the final fight, they’ve found the location of the headquarters. Carmen recruits whoever wants to join (Team Red, ACME, different friends from their journey like Sonia). There’s a big battle, bringing back different VILE characters (Mime Bomb, Flytrap, Spinkick, etc.), gadgets and robots vs the new team.
Of course they defeat VILE, finally bringing them out of the shadows and taking them in.
The Chief officially offers everyone on Team Red places with ACME. They all talk, and Zach and Ivy decide to accept. It’s not Carmen, Gray or Shadowsan’s thing, but they agree to stay on as consultants. Shadowsan decides to retire and go home to his brother. The team “splits up” but promise to see each other again soon.
Carmen gets permission to take Player sightseeing over the summer, so he can get out and go see the world like she did.
Carmen goes to meet her mother, encouraged on the phone by Player and his family (because he’s not sitting alone in a diner, he’s hanging out with other people, showing his character growth).
There can still be a timeskip, but it’s where everyone’s still working together to take down any last traces of VILE
