Please Vote!  No Matter What The Political Bots Say, There Is A World Of Difference Between Democrats

Please vote!  No matter what the political bots say, there is a world of difference between Democrats and Republicans, and every vote matters.

Also, make sure to look at the candidates and vote in your local races.  A lot of work is being done on school boards, library boards, town councils, and other very local levels to ban books, limit what can be taught to children, restrict library programs, and much more that chips away at your rights.

How do I put this gently . . . You fuckers wanna see Trump actually face consequences - see Roe protected - not lose all the progress of the past 2 years under Biden? (yes ik we need more to be done i know) YOU HAVE TO FUCKING VOTE IN THE MID TERMS - POLLS ARE SHOWING A RED RESURGANCE BC PEOPLE HATE INFLATION AND THEY'RE VOTING REPUBLICAN LIKE IT'LL DO SOMETHING TO STOP IT.

Exactly!!  Take it from someone who is Queer and Old -- rainbow capitalism is definitely an improvement.  Could corporations do better?  Yes!  Should we keep pushing them to do better?  Absolutely!

However, it’s important to remember that rainbow capitalism means the corporations want (and think they can get) more money from the LGBTQIA+ community than from homophobes.  That’s definitely a step in the right direction.

i’d rather have rainbow capitalism then living in constant fear of discovery. the woman in the pride flag disney t-shirt might be missing the nuance, but at least i know i can be myself. a street full of rainbow flags makes me more comfortable holding a mans hand. look. corporations aren’t your friend. they will sell to whoever will buy. but kids seeing gay everything every year is only ever a good thing, and a massive improvement in history

I was well over 20 when I *started* reading fan fiction.  One of my best friends finally convinced me to try it, and I’ve been addicted ever since.  I’ve been active in science-fiction/fantasy/gaming/furry and various other fandoms for decades.  I have seen everyone from infants to senior citizens having fun at conventions.  The idea that fandom could have a use-by date or age range is laughable.

Reblog if you’re over 20 and still read/write fan fiction.

I’m curious!

If you don't have the manual for your car, you can probably find it online. Once you find it, download it! That way, if it gets moved or taken down because your car is older than the company wants to deal with, you still have a copy of the manual. (If your car is relatively new, you may be able to get a physical copy from a dealership, but they will probably charge for it.)

If possible, put the file on your phone so you have it available when you're away from home. Even if you only have access at home, at least you can look up things.

If you can't get a manual or your manual doesn't have instructions on changing a tire, print out instructions and put them with your spare tire. As other people have mentioned, having to change a tire almost always happens in miserable conditions. Having instructions easily available makes it less bad.

in the same spirit as those posts reminding you to drink some water and take your meds:

if you have a car, when’s the last time you checked your spare tire? because i know at least two people who’ve recently discovered that they couldn’t actually access their spare because they’d misplaced the necessary tool or some other thing. check your spare tire!! make sure you’ll be able to use it when you need it!!!

Squee!  I love Gail Carriger’s Parasol Protectorate series, and I’m looking forward to her new M/M romances in a modern setting.  I made the mistake of reading the prequel short story before I realized that The Sumage Solution hadn’t been released yet.

I laughed so hard I woke up the cat.  Now he’s staring at me, trying to decide whether he needs to be concerned about this.

Is there something about aces and coffee?  Honestly, the only time I can stand the flavor is when I’m kissing someone I love who has just drunk coffee.

Ready for a long ace-centric metaphor about sex?

Alright, so. Coffee. I don’t drink coffee. I have no desire to drink coffee. I find people who enthusiastically go on about the flavor differences of lattes, espressos, and french press brews, both amusing and mildly baffling. All the coffee ads. Coffee jokes. Bustling coffee shops. To me, all coffee is similarly bitter and unpleasant. I have been through so many “Try this, it’s sweet! You can’t even taste the coffee!”  Alas, I always can. And I’m  sensitive to caffeine anyway. So, I don’t really think about drinking it when I wake up or am tired.

Yet I love the smell of coffee. I love the idea of coffee. The feeling of a warm cup taking the chill from my fingers, the cozy ritual of having a drink and chat. I might try someone’s coffee. If they ask, if I want to please them and share in something they enjoy. I am also perfectly capable of learning the preferences of those I care about and creating a cup for their pleasure.

But I don’t want coffee, generally speaking. I will probably make a face after trying their coffee and wash the taste out with something else. They may rush to reassure me that it is an acquired taste. And I’ll have to reply that it’s a taste I don’t particularly care about acquiring in the way they did. ‘Drink it till you like it’ will never work for me.

But that doesn’t mean I am against coffee or think people shouldn’t drink it. Doesn’t mean I’ve taken a vow to never drink any. And sure, maybe if you get one of those sugar and whipped cream disasters, more of a warm milkshake than a cup of coffee, I’ll probably be happier sipping it with you. But honestly? I’d rather smell someone else’s coffee and not be expected to drink it. I’d really rather have the heat and sweetness of my hot cocoa.
