the writing in hotd has reached such a high levels of nonsense im kind of finding it impossible to have opinions anymore. I cant make sense of this writing. I cant figure out these characters. I cant follow their motivations. I dont know what this story is trying to tell me. One thing that stands out to me at the moment is it seems to be indulging in the myth of targaryren superiority (despite questioning it earlier in the narrative??) and indulging in the idea the greens are somehow less targaryen than the blacks when the whole point of the text is BOTH sides are targaryens. They're family thats the whole point. And the show indulging the warped propaganda created in-universe to imply one side was less targaryen is exactly that - Warped ! Not accurate ! Missing the point !! At the moment it feels like the real war is happening in the writers room. Someone get this creative team a divorce lawyer i need them to come to a speedy custody agreement.

it’s kind of funny how the same people who never shut up about Criston having a madonna-whore complex unironically subscribe to the same belief when it comes to Alicent vs Rhaenyra
Alicent having sex with one person as a widow has people blasting her as a whore, both in the story and in fanon people treat her having sex like it’s a character flaw and she’s portrayed as responsible for blood and cheese because she dared to have a romantic relationship.
on the flip side Rhaenyra having an affair with Harwin is treated as something noble and respectable, her having sex with Daemon the night of his wife’s funeral is seen as loving and no one puts the blame on her shoulders for the eye incident because she dared to have sex.
everything Rhaenyra does is treated as inherently virtuous whereas Alicent was getting called a whore when her only crime was being forced to marry Viserys and now that she has a relationship with Criston the misogynistic comments are only worse.
