Most important: Spend the money you have on a motel. Churches probably will not actually help and shelters can be dangerous or turn you away. At a motel you have free breakfast, access to running water, and a lockable place to sleep. Do not waste money on a gym membership like the popular version of this post says to do, YMCA memberships are like $40.
2. Contact family and friends. Now is not the time to worry about being a burden. Your survival and safety comes first and that is all that matters, anyone worth having in your life will agree.
3. Start a gofundme. Even if someone can’t offer you a place to stay, they might be willing to toss out $5 so you can eat today.
4. Libraries have free wifi. Apply to any and all jobs you can think of if you aren’t already working.
5. Any home is a good home. Even if it’s a dingy apartment in a bad neighborhood. If its cheap and you can afford it, snatch it up.
6. Pancake mix and peanut butter are filling, cheap, and last a long time.
PLEASE SHARE THE FUCK OUT OF THIS
I was just rereading The Sword of Summer and TLT by Rick Riordan, and I came to parts where the Norse and Greek gods were called 'lowercase G gods,' while the Abrahamic gods were called, 'Capital G gods.'
Jeez, Rick, you really had to add that in, huh? You do realise that there are Hellenistic Pagans who view their gods as highly as Christians view their God and Muslims view Allah? Like, holy shit, you did not have to downgrade them like that. There was no need for that. No need at all.
This just reeks of blatant Abrahamic superiority, which is annoying but sadly unsurprising.
All I'm saying right now is that I can see why so many Hellenistic Pagans and Greek people hate PJO. There's nothing wrong with hating it for those reasons.
I hope you get raped until you bleed and die, fucking TERF bitch
.
All right, ok, LISTEN. I don't know who needs to hear this, but I'm pretty sure that some people do. It's ok to hate Percy Jackson because it depicts the Greek Gods in a terrible way. Rick Riordan has the creative license to write them however he wants, but it's still fine to be annoyed at how they're portrayed.
It's ok to hate the fact that PJO wasn't in Greece and that the explanation for why it was in America was terrible.
It's ok to hate the fact that Zeus, Hera, Ares, Athena and a whole lot of other gods were portrayed in a negative light.
It's ok to be furious because Ares is a bad parent in PJO.
It's ok to tear your hair out over the way Artemis and her hunt were written.
It's ok to be angry that Athena had children with mortals when she was a virgin goddess in the myths.
It's ok to be angry that Hades cheated on Persephone in PJO (even if you like Nico and Bianca and Hazel. It's fine to do both).
It's ok to be angry that Persephone and Demeter don't have a good relationship and that Demeter is largely painted to be an overbearing, helicopter mother.
It's ok to resent the fact that Artemis, the former's hunt and Hestia, the goddess of the hearth and another virgin goddess, were portrayed as literal CHILDREN despite there being no reason for Rick to do that.
It's ok to be annoyed with the fact that Poseidon was sanitized when he could've been such a morally gray character.
It's fine to cry about the fact that Aphrodite was largely reduced to a stereotypical, modern cartoonish version of RomANtiC lOvE when she was the goddess of LOVE, not just ROMANCE, SEX AND BEAUTY.
It's ok to like Trials of Apollo but want to smash things because Apollo was depicted as an incompetent dumbass. It's ok to seethe at the fact that Zeus was portrayed as an abusive father to Apollo when in the myths, he was quite loving.
It's ok to do this because PJO is one of the if not THE MOST major media that depicts Greek Mythology. It's basically a Greek Mythology fanfiction MODERN AU. And yes, it's helped thousands of children and adults and made them feel better, and it's almost as popular as Harry Potter for a reason. But it's still fine for Greek people, Hellenistic Pagans and even people who aren't Greek or Hellenistic to be angry with how Rick Riordan is continuously bastardising the Greek Gods and making them look more and more of a joke.
A lot of people who got into Greek Mythology used PERCY JACKSON as their first reference, and while Percy Jackson is a great start for venturing into Greek Mythology- PLEASE, PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THAT PJO GODS ARE NOT AS ACCURATE AS THE ORIGINAL.
POSEIDON IS NOT THAT GOOD.
HADES IS NOT SO VILLANOUS.
ATHENA IS NOT SO COLD AND UNCARING. SHE'S A MAIN PATRON OF HEROES AND RARELY ABANDONS THEM EVEN AFTER THEY'VE COMMITTED WAR CRIMES
DIONYSUS IS NOTHING LIKE HIS PJO COUNTERPART.
ARES IS A GOOD FATHER.
DEMETER AND PERSEPHONE HAD A BEAUTIFUL, LOVING RELATIONSHIP.
HERA IS NOT SO HORRIBLE. SHE HAD HER GOOD MOMENTS
ZEUS WAS NOT THAT BAD IN GREEK MYTHOLOGY AND HE WAS ALSO A CARING FATHER. HE SENT BLOOD RAIN DOWN TO MOURN HIS SON SARPEDON WHO WAS FATED TO DIE.
I know this sounds like I hate PJO, but I really do like the series. It's fine to like PJO and its characters while also disliking how the gods were portrayed. It's ok.
So, we talk about Vivienne not being there for her sisters in Elfhame and letting them get bullied by the other children of the Gentry, but I raise you this-
Vivienne WANTED to go back to the human realm, but Jude and Taryn wanted to stay in Elfhame, and when they were actually able to finally go to the human realm, Jude and Taryn hated it and wanted to go back, which broke Vivi's heart and immensely saddened her, because have we ever considered what Vivienne wanted?
Jude also recalled how angry Vivienne was when she and Taryn finally 'gave in' to Elfhame. I think that Vivienne thought that by choosing Elfhame, Jude and Taryn didn't just choose its perquisites, but also its perils, so one side of her mind decided that she didn't need to protect them so that they could learn a lesson. The other side of her, however, felt guilty that she wasn't protecting them, so she stayed for them. And so this cycle continued-angry one day, guilty the next. Just a theory of mine.
Have you listened to epic the musical bcs if you have I might want to ask your opinion on a little project I did🥺
I'd definitely be willing to look at your project! :D
It's an honour that you'd ask me :D :D :D I'm pleasantly surprised
I listened to some sagas of Epic the Musical, but I didn't listen to all of them-I'll do it today and let you know when I finish them
PJO fandom, can we have more of godly parents and demigod children interacting with each other?
Like, give me Ares and Sherman and Clarisse and Ellis interacting with each other (The REAL Ares, not the PJO version, thank you very much).
And Aphrodite and Drew and Piper. IMAGINE THE COMEDY.
And the minor gods with their children? Like, can we have some Hypnos and Clovis moments, or Tyche and Chiara?
What about Demeter with her demigod children? Can someone please give me Demeter being a loving mother not only to Persephone but her demigod children? (Still mad that we didn't get that much info about her in ToA despite Meg being A LITERAL DAUGHTER OF DEMETER).
HERMES? TRAVIS? CONNOR?
Athena and Malcolm need to have more spotlight.
Add more in the comments please.
I was just reading Death on the Nile, and in the middle of the book I predicted that both Jacqueline and Simon had teamed up to kill Linnet and take her money; I WAS RIGHT-
You did NOT just compare Annabeth and Gabe to each other.
I swear to god you anti Percabeths are the dumbest, most incomprehent people I've ever met. I seriously think you should just kys honestly the world would be a better place off without you.
No I don't think it's wrong you're anti Percabeth so yeah
I did, in fact, compare Annabeth to Gabe!
I don't think that Annabeth is as bad as Gabe (nope nope nope) but I do think that she's very toxic and that she hurts Percy. I think that they need to break up and heal alone. Her lack of character growth is very frustrating.
The lack of specificity in your death threat is annoying. If you do want me to kill myself, you're going to have to be more particular-the necessary tools, how long it'll take, how painful it'll be, etc. I take painless methods only.
I do think that not much would be changed in the world if I killed myself, but it would probably be a somewhat worse off place without me because I have people who love and care for me and I'm not doing anything bad to the world, so there's that.
When I came into this fandom, people told me that Percabeth stans would be rabid and hateful, and I don't think that's the case for the majority of them, seeing as that period already passed and they seem more mature now (or maybe it's just Tumblr) but you seem to be an exception. I wonder if you're the same anon as last time? I'll never know.
In any case, I'd like to thank you for your use of better grammar than the last one, though your not adding a period at the end of the last sentence irks me. I'd also prefer it if you didn't use the abbreviation of kys and said kill yourself. I dislike it when people use bad grammar, though that's just a personal preference.
Your morality is interesting-I forget the exact term for it, but you think it's bad to tell your side to kill themselves but have no problem telling the opposite side to kill themselves just because..............they're your enemies. Which is a terrible reason. Not surprising from a hardcore Percabeth stan, though.
I don't tend to think of people whom I disagree with as automatically bad people-that is a very harmful mentality to have. I have fought with some people, but they're not bad people-we just disagree on certain things and I know that they produce great content and have good morals just like me. Please adopt this mentality and the world will be slightly better, because every change is a change, no matter how big or small.
Anyway, I will be the bigger person and I hope that you sleep well tonight! Au revoir!
Rereading PJO, I've realised that Rick Riordan manages to mock, denigrate and terribly represent literally all the gods except Poseidon and Hestia.
At this point, I don't know if it's funny or not, but someone give Rick one of those reverse award medals where it's actually an award for being the worst at doing something.
The book version of Golden Raspberry for representation of Greek Gods. For Rick Riordan.
Anyway, I'm finishing my Athena essay. Should be here any day now.
Honestly the whole 'follow and unfollow' aspect of social media is just so ridiculous to me.
I don't give a damn if you follow or unfollow me. You don't have to justify unfollowing me-chances are I won't even notice, and if I do, I won't care. You're allowed to unfollow someone without justifying it!
If you want to follow me-great! I'm thankful that you like my content enough to want to follow me to get updates. I'm really glad and no offense to you.
If you want to unfollow me but are afraid that I'll be offended, however-go ahead and unfollow me right now because I don't care and I won't be offended at all.
I prefer if you interact with my posts instead of just following! Like, reblog with or without comment and comment (which is the best thing).
You don't have to follow your mutuals just because you're mutuals. Interacting with their posts is far more valuable than just following them. A person who doesn't follow me but interacts with my posts will always be more valuable than someone who follows me but never interacts with them.
