If youāre having writers blockā¦READ!!!! CONSUME MEDIA
I feel like I donāt hear that given enough as advice for writers block..just read? Watch tv? Movies? Find inspiration in media.
Writers block is a lack of inspiration, so go collect more.
how is their relationship with their family
what are their beliefs, if they have any
what is their motivation (preferably something unrelated to their love interest/romantic feelings)
who were they raised to be vs. who they became/are becoming
what are their plans for the future, if they have any
how they feel about themselves and how it affects their behaviour
how do they feel about things they cannot control
and last but not least: Why is This Character the Protagonist??

hereās how it happened:
we were watching Episode 8 of Seaosn 4, and we were watching The Van Scene.
we get to the part where Mike subtly glances down at willās lips, and my dad says āMike i caught you thereā and i was like huh??? and then my mom literally says āi think they are pining for each other but theyāre too scared to say itā LIKE???? OMG. so i asked them āwait so you guys think that they like each other?ā and my DAD NODDED. and my mom said āmaybe if they made it more obvious in season 5, they could work out. i think theyād made a cute couple.ā

You were the healerāthe last light of your party. But now your final ally dies in your arms, and thereās no one left to save. The enemy jeers, calling you useless. You look up, eyes hollow and black. The light is gone. The Void answers. You're no longer a cleric. You're something far worse.

Dang it, Iām making a novel idea that I love, and now I'm mad that I canāt give it to my English educator. Because I know I canāt provide a queer romance Band AU story to my Christain professor. I guess Iāll post it here then! If you guys want anymore stories, do tell me!
This is the kind of information your first line should provide:
the name of the character (the speicifcity creates and illusion of reality from the get-go)
Notify that something bad is about to happen.
Provide a feeling of motion (it doesnāt neccessarily have to be the character moving)
Talk about a (small) disturbance to the characterās everyday life.
Action (in medias res)
Jump into the story with no delay - have something interesting happening.
āThey threw me off the hay truck about noon."
2. Dialogue
Show conflict between the characters speaking.
āIsnāt it true you ahve a motive to lie?ā / āExcuse me?ā
3. Raw Emotion
Make readers sympathize with the MC, who is experiencing a strong, universal emotion (like sadness, anger, etc.).
āI do not look. I donāt ask where. I donāt because Annieās mother died seven months ago. I stand motionless in the line, looking just like everyone else except for the hot tears that have begun to sting my eyes.ā
4. Look-back Hook
Suggest that there is a not-to-be-missed story thatās about to be told
āThe terror, which would not end for another twenty-eight years ā if it ever did end ā beganm, so far as I can tell, with a boat made from a sheet of newsppaer gloating down a gutter swollen with rainā
5. Attitude
When using first-person narration, show some attitude and unique voice.
āIf you really want to hear about it, the first thing youāll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I donāt feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth.ā
6. Prologues - entice the reader to move to chapter 1
Action Prologue: Start off with some big scene, often involving death
Framing a story - give the reader the view of a character about to look back and tell the story.
The teaser - present a scene at the beginning that will happen later on in the book

You started a scam religion for a quick buck. You begin to panic when your fake god was actually a real forgotten one awakened from new worshippers, declared you it's high priest, and granted you the power of healing.
Random Prompt #13
The vintage radio in the hallway cut on, static buzzing from the speakers. If you listen closely, you can almost make out a voice.
