Of Piacere Girolamo Trombetta!
Alberto introducing the phrase to Luca.
Luca taught Giulia about the greeting and he perfectly did the same handshake.
Alberto reclaiming back their special greeting as their own.
So, what's the meaning of this words?
Piacere is a classic greeting in Italian which means “Nice to meet you!” or “It’s a pleasure to meet you!” It is also a noun that means “pleasure / favour” and a verb that means “to please“.
According to the director, it is a play-on-words that was popular amongst children in the Ligurian town where he grew up.
The first name Girolamo sounds a bit like giro la mano (which means “I twist my hand“)
(You can see Alberto twisting Luca'a hand left and right here)
whereas the surname Trombetta means “trumpet“.
(They were pulling their hands back and forth at the Trombetta word, as if they were playing a trumpet.)
