Not physically nonhuman as in “I identify as a dog, therefore I am one”, but in a “if you slit me open you would literally find dog organs” way.

I forgot to post this here but some months ago me n my friends created the term adopthing/adothing (ado(pt) · adopt + thing) which stands for "term for something you feel that belongs to you (as something adopted/offspring/child of yours) in a nonhuman way".

For example, an adopthing could be a plushie you treat as a pup of yours, like a wolf plushie. Or a doll or object you really like; even an animal or something similar.

You know when someone says that a character is “their child”? I feel like that's adopthing, but for nonhumans™.
