Anurognathids were perhaps the weirdest yet cutest-looking pterosaurs. Instead of long, pointed bills, they had wide, amphibian-like mouths that were probably best suited for catching flying insects. Anurognathus itself was a small creature around the size of a robin, but Jeholopterus (third painting) was closer to the size of a hawk and was the largest member of the family. It may have fed on small vertebrates rather than insects.
