Post Project Scatter
Just finished up a big push for the Regulation Room new rule. Whenever I have some strict deadlines and a bunch of work, both my real and digital desktop are the first to suffer. Keanu and the Swaze helped me power through though. Now, to clean up those files!
BEATLES UPDATE!
I redid the Beatles print because I wanted it to be a little more get-able for folks, and this one's 60% less money. Also, it looks real great in black and white (with some nice texture), especially given the subject matter. Perfect for any BeatleManiac in your life. Get it in the shop!
Arkon
A little morning warmup of Arkon: King of Polemachus! Some pencil practice, digital ink practice and new photoshop color technique practice. Arkon based on Mike Del Mundo’s insanely awesome Weirdworld design.

Bird 2: Rock Pigeon
The indefatigable Rock Dove a.k.a Rock Pigeon a.k.a “Pigeon” a.k.a a lot of awful names. The quintessential New York City bird is up for today’s small part of the large Birds Of Brooklyn poster set I’m working on. I hope you’ll keep tagging along as I uncover more of the avian element of where I and so many nature lovers call home (even though we should be living somewhere a lot more natural if we’re honest with ourselves). Thank goodness for Prospect Park.
I have begun the Super Trip, wherein myself and two friends travel from Seattle to Los Angeles via car and bicycle. The first day wasn’t so exciting because it involved getting to JFK, sitting in an aeroplane for 6 hours then settling in at the friend’s apartment in Seattle. There is so much to come on this trip, and I plan to post some drawings.
Yoga Me
I started doing yoga a month ago. Doing the job I do, I was in pretty serious need of yoga without really knowing it, with all the sitting and staring for most of every waking hour. I’ve quickly become obsessed, as I am known to do, so I drew a picture of me doing yoga thinking about the things I think about when doing yoga.
Guy Stuff: Things to do to wood
You may’ve noticed that since moving to the city, I’ve missed manual labor and dudely work doubly. When I was home for the holiday weekend, I got a whole lot of guy stuff out of my system, including chopping wood, lighting it on fire and sawing it in half. I also ripped off the paper still connected to a few dozen wire hangers but that doesn’t qualify.
Year In Review
Phew, today marks the 2 year anniversary of my starting this blog. It was a slow starter the first year, trying to figure out exactly what to post and how to talk about my work. The blog underwent a huge shift this past year, in tone, content and importance for me. It has become a place to experiment with new techniques, make jokes, write music, and share what goes on in my everyday life as an illustrator and designer. I plan on pumping up the volume exponentially this year on the blog and all things AE. Looking back at the year, I picked out a few posts I was particularly proud of and hope to match and maybe top in 2012.
2011 was the year of illustration. My work shifted heavily towards hand-crafted, fun imagery - a departure from my more precise and clean design previously. My 6 favorite images of the year pretty clearly show this trend.
Being from Maryland, this baseball season was the best anyone could have hoped for. Despite the Nationals having the best record in the league, my allegiances remain with the Baltimore Orioles. Tonight, they battle for the wild-card spot, so in support, I drew the new/retro logo that I'm quite fond of (glad to be over the lifeless bird silhouette). Go O's.
More art in a long line of art for DJ Lani Love. This mix was done for the nail art magazine Tipsyzine. They're both pretty excellent at what they do, so head over and check out the pretty wicked nail art and Lani's other mixes. Yeah, and don't forget to actually look at the album art!
Finally put up a Birds of Brooklyn poster for myself. You can see it here with a childhood bat I reshaped and painted some fun patterns on. There is 1 MORE LEFT! of the original run of posters if you're interested in getting yourself one.
